The nurse nodded as the two alphas were okay with waiting on their food before scurring out the door. The faint murmur of yelling and machines could be heard as she opened the door before it all died out as it closed.

As the room went quiet again Kyle let out a small sigh, thinking about how many of his people had gotten hurt in the fight. He didn't know the number but he hoped it wasn't too much and that he didn't lose any of them. What many didn't know was that Kyle was close to many of his warriors and would help them in times of need to support their families. He knew many of their children by name, if anything would happen to their families if the warrior died then he didn't know what to do.

Thoughts clouded over Kyle's mind as he thought over multiple things. He knew the beta's could handle most of the things he was supposed to do until he was beter. He wondered if he could teach Tucker some things to do since he was an alpha now too, but would everyone listen to him right away?

He was snapped out of his thoughts as Tucker spoke to him, his gave going back to his mate. Kyle let out a sigh and nodded, "Thanks.. It's just that there is so much to do as an alpha, so it is never easy when they get hurt."

Just as he finished saying this a different nurse walked in with a small cart with their food and water. "I will just leave this here," she says, "we are very busy right now with the warriors, so apologies for my hurriedness." Kyle nodded at the nurse's answer before she rushed back out.

Tucker watched Kyle closely, sensing the weight of his thoughts. It was clear his mind was in a storm, torn between the responsibilities of his new role and the concern for the warriors under his care. Tucker had seen it before—how a leader could be swallowed whole by the demands of the position, especially when things went wrong. He could feel the unease radiating off Kyle, but Tucker wasn’t about to let him drown in it alone.

"You're not alone in this," Tucker said, his voice steady, though there was a small edge to it. "We’ll figure it out together. The pack follows you because they believe in you. No matter what, you’re still the one guiding them."

Tucker wasn’t just talking about leadership, though. He knew the real struggle for Kyle wasn’t about giving orders—it was about carrying the weight of the pack’s wellbeing on his shoulders. But Tucker wasn’t about to let Kyle forget that he wasn’t alone in it, even if the weight felt crushing.

As the nurse came in with their food, Tucker leaned back slightly, crossing his arms. The momentary distraction helped, but Tucker couldn’t shake the unease in the air.

The nurse’s quick departure left a silence that hung between them, but Tucker wasn’t going to let it stay that way for long. "You don't need to do it all alone. We got your back."

Kyle's face softened as Tucker reassured him that he and the others where there for him and would help him. He nodded at this and leaned forward with a grunt and wince of pain as he took his food and water from the cart. He placed the bowl of stew carefully on his lap and, after taking a sip of water, sat the glass on the nighstand. A sigh escaped his lips as he leaned back again, his body stinging from moving so much. He stared down at the bowl of stew and stirred it lightly with the spoon that was in the bowl. Deep down he knew to believe Tucker in the fact that he had people on his side to help him through this, but that was before he had a mate. He was used to being so strict with himself and not having time to rest, but now with Tucker he knew that his life would change. While he knew it was for good, since he did love Tucker, Kyle wasn't really used to change.

As Tucker sat there, a flicker of something primal stirred within him. It was the wolf, Tucker's wolf, rising beneath the surface like the tide. It was both a comforting presence and an intrusive one; it wanted to break through, to assure Kyle that everything would be okay, that healing was just a part of their journey together.

"Hey, Kyle," Tucker spoke, the wolf controlling his mind, more vibrant and alive than ever. “When do you think you’ll be healed enough for us to start having some fun?”

Kyle's head turned to look at Tucker as he spoke to him. He raised a brow at his unusual question. He knew that this wasn't fully Tucker speaking and sensed a change in the other, making him wonder if his wolf was speaking. It wasn't uncommon for a wolf to speak their thoughts through their person, though it was more common in children since they are still learning the balance between wolf and human. A soft chuckle came from Kyle as he answered, "Why? Is someone impatient and wanting to play?"

Kyle noted the change in Tucker's voice as his wolf spoke through him. As he picked up a spoonful of his stew Kyle says, "You seem to want to test me more than Tucker. Which is interesting since he doesn't seem that cocky.." He eats some of his stew as he waits for the wolf's next move. A part of him was surprised that Tucker was letting the wolf speak through him without fighting it, but he wondered if he didn't know that he could fight him.
