Gale shook her awake, lacing his fingers in hers. |

She woke, wild eyed and fearful. "Gale...Gale..." She breathed, calming slowly |

"You're alright," He murmured, gaze dull. |

She took in his eyes, realizing he'd been in a dark place as well. "Something's wrong. You were drowning" She said |

"Ain't wrong about that," Gale muttered, casting his gaze off. |

"Come here" She said, shaking. Her arms encircled him, holding him close. "It's gonna be alright, babe" |

Gale let her, breath coming short. "I just...I was so excited and s-so ready and he was just, gone. It was gonna be a boy, too." He whispered, eyes stinging again. |

"I'm so sorry, baby" She said, eyes filling with tears agaain. She held him tightly. "We'll try again, yeah? I promise I won't fail us again" |

"Yeah..." He murmured, holding her tight. "You couldn't do anything about it, it happens--still hurts though." |
