Elara saw the fear flash through his eyes and frowned slightly, letting out a small sigh when he asked her why. "Just do it, thought I saw something." She lied, her gaze softer as she flicked it to his. Elara wanted to help him, she really did. But, if she wasn't going to let her, why bother trying?

Sage sort of stared at her for a moment, mind whirling. She'd helped so far...maybe she was someone he could trust. Then again, he'd trusted Amy all those years ago and it had turned out...badly, to say the least. Eventually he let out a heavy breath and moved to heasitantly move his hair to the side. It felt vulnerable...showing her the bruises and cuts that clearly spread over most of his body. But part of the weight of how Amy treated him was lifted off his chest once he did. "It's been like this for years," he noted voice quiet. He couldn't look at elara ...what was she thinking? He was supposed to be a fighter, but here he was, letting her beat him up constantly. He just....couldn't fight her. Never had been able to.

"Oh, Sage," She started, silencing as she saw more of the wounds he had. Elara was silent for a moment, eyes looking over every mark she could see. "She did all this?" The woman asked, letting out a breath when he said it'd been like that for years. If the bitch could do that in only a few months, it had to be hundreds of times worse in years. "If I think this is bad for just a few months, I can't imagine how bad it would be for years." She breathed, voice quiet and soft as she spoke. Elara didn't hurt at too many things, but seeing Sage, the man who'd helped her escape the castle bruised and beat like this hit home.

Sage felt his shoulders relax slightly when she reacted ..fairly well. It seemed like she really cared. He glanced back towards her, offering a small smile, though it was anything but good. "She's crazy," he noted with a sort of shrug, though winced when his body protested. "This is why I told her Liz was dead," he added. "She's young....she couldn't take a kick or a broom handle or riding crop or..." He sort of trailed off there, not wanting to recall ony of the things she'd used against him. His back was probably the worst, where she'd put a riding crop to use, but he had a few other nasty places he'd had to stitch up himself. Hopefully, he could keep infection away, though he also hadn't washed himself off in....a while. "Anyway, it...was just better for her here, even if it was without me," he added sadly. He wished he could've seen her grow up. Hear her first word, help teach her things.

Elara let out a sorrow filled chuckle when he said she was crazy, the sound not meant to sound happy. "Well no shit she's crazy," She agreed, knowing it was true. The woman had beaten Sage and made him all skin and bones, no where near the word 'healthy' and probably closer to the word 'death' then 'healthy'. "Again, I don't lame you for it. Probably would've killed her," She started, eyes going wider as Sage started listing the things she did. Elara just stared at him for a moment, blinking a few times. "Okay you're not kidding......" She let the silence settle for a moment. "Yeah, bitch is crazy." The princess said almost too casually as she listened in once more. "Hey, I would've done the same if I were you. If I had a daughter and some crazy hoe after me, yeah, I would've left her." She agreed, knowing he'd missed key moments in Liz's life. Her first word, first time running, and a few others.

Sage hummed softly, letting his hair back down as he sort of drew his knees up to his chest and wrapped his arms around them, setting his chin on his arms with a sort of sigh. "Yeah," he hummed softly, just watching the fire flicker for a while. He got drowsy though, and he supposed he should get some rest....he hadn't slept in a while either. "I'm gonna get some rest," he murmured softly, moving to get up stifly. He was used to being sore like this, but it still hurt. "If you need something wake me," he added, before slipping into the house and practically collapsing on the couch.

Elara felt bad for the man, like really bad. He'd been taken away from his daughter and beat, and practically starved. When he said he was going to go rest, all Elara did was nod. "You rest for as long as you need to, won't wake you up unless some random shows up." She watched him stifly stand and winced internally, watching him go. With a small sigh she extinguished the fire, calling in Varys and bringing Liz inside for the night. Varys hopped up on the bed with Elara, Liz sleeping in a smaller bed she had managed to salvage off the streets. The woman eventually fell asleep, Varys curled up next to her.

Sage had nodded in response to her comment, offering her a grateful smile. "Thank you," he noted softly before moving inside. He didn't wake up before Elara, and when he did stir in the morning, it was close to noon judging by the sun. He noticed Liz awake in her own bed and moved to scoop her up and then wander outside to where Elara was sitting by the fire. "Morning," he hummed softly.

Elara was cooking some of the deer she had caught early that morning, well, the deer Varys had hunted. She was cooking only a quarter of it, already in four portions. "Morning Sage," She greeted, taking the deer off the fire. She plated roughly a fourth of what she cooked and slid it to sage, tossed a fourth to Varys, a smaller amount to Liz, and whatever was left she took. "How'd you sleep?" Elara asked, extinguishing the fire.

Sage took the plate eagerly when she handed it him, stomach growling as he caught the scent of the cooked meat. "Slept ok," he noted lightly, digging into the mela after settling Liz in his lap. "How about you," he asked, cocking his head slightly in curiosity, stroking varys as the wolf settled down next to him happily.
