She gently wrapped her arms around Rex, sitting up and popping a kiss on his head as she looked at Ajax. She rolled her eyes and reached over to ruffle Ajax's hair. "You really are. You should be nice to me for like, a whole ten minutes." She teased, pulling her hand back.

Rex flopped over on his sde and laid his head in Mercy's lap, looking up at her with perfect puppy eyes. Ajax wrinkled his nose slightly when Mercy ruffled his hair. "hey..." he grumbled, raking it back into the position it had been in with his fingers. "I can! Maybe, Possibly. Unlikely, but I could try." Ajax said helpfully, grinning

Mercy smiled down at Rex and gently scratched him behind the ears before beginning to pet him. "Okay, Sir Confident, go ahead. Time starts now. You can't be mean, insulting, or tease me." She challenged, moving to rub Rex's belly with a playful gleam in her eyes.

Ajax opened his mouth and closed it again, repeating this a couple times and looking shocked. "Or... tease you?" He asked in a weak, voice, sinking back onto the ground with a whine. Rex sat up and licked Ajax gently, woofing. Ajax lifted a hand and patted the dog to show he was perfectly fine, then let it flop to the ground again with a loud sigh.

Mercy raised her eyebrows at his slightly pitiful whine. "Fine then, you can tease me, drama queen." She smiled, fluffing Rex's fur enough to make it into a bit of a mohawk. She seemed quite happy with it, planting a kiss on the dog's cheek and scratching his chin.

Ajax let out a loud breath and sat back up with sparkling eyes. "Oh phew, I was hoping I wouldn't have to not speak this whole time." He voiced his past worries cheerily, raising his eyebrows slightly as Mercy started to torture his dog. "Er- um- excuse me... why?" Ajax asked with a slight eyebrow furrow, smoothing Rex's fur back out. The dog looked back and forth in between the two and sighed happily, wanting all the attention he could get

"Ha-ha." Mercy rolled her eyes, glaring at him as he destroyed her art. "THAT was a prime example of not being nice." She huffed, ignoring his question and rubbing Rex's ears gently. She smiled at Rex's contentedness and laid her head on the large dog's shoulder, sighing a bit happily herself.

"What!? I was merely petting the top of his head. I will try to try harder from now forward." He sniffed, really wishing he had a tree to lean against. Well, he really just wished he was back at his own comforting if-very-hard cave. Ajax tried twisting his shoulders to prop himself up with his arms, but got rewarded with a sharp, shooting pain that tried to murder his joints. "Ye-ouch." He winced, bringing his arms back around to the front of his body.

"As you should." Mercy nodded teasingly, watching him quietly. She tilted her head at his wince. "Would you like to go inside, where you can sit on a comfortabke surface? Like a normal creature?" She asked lightly, patting Rex's head lightly and her eyes twinkled with a playful gleam.

Ajax knew Mercy was going to say something, so he just sighed slightly and waited for either the lecture, or an offer for help. When she did speak, he mentally cheered, because he had been right on the two things... since she had chosen one of them. "Well I am not a normal creature..." He paused with a grin. "only if Rex can come." Ajax finished, scratching Rex under the dog's chin with a smile
