Quinn flinched, touching her face softly and coming away with her fingers full of dripping blood. "I'll be fine. Come on, we can stop in a couple hours." She hopped on Sahara and galloped through the trees, just running then cantering then running again till they got to the thing she was looking for. A cave. Quinn asked a bird how far away they were... and the bird said really far away. Quinn decided one more day of traveling then we will bed down till Sage got better.. and she got better. She helped him down and into the cave, laying blankets out and immediately going to find the ingredients for the tea she made. Quinn made it, giving it to Sage as waiting worriedly. She knew the cut on her cheek was bad, and it would probably get infected...

Sage frowned slightly at her response. He could smell a decent amount of blood, but she seemed alright. He supposed she wasn't bleeding out or anything, but infection was definitely a worry. Honestly, he could feel an infection bubbling up at his neck, though it was under his shirt so he didn't know if the girl could see it. He was glad when they stopped....he almost fell over when he got off of chaos, and wobbled a few feet into the cave and let himself fall over and curl up. He took the drink and lapped it up when she gave it to him. It did make him feel better but he still felt awful.

Quinn thought if something while she was thinking about infection in her wound. What if.. Sage's wound was infected too? That would be a good reason why the Peppermint and Barmy Root weren't helping as much as they should. Quinn edged closer to him. "Can I look at your neck?" She asked, trying to remember the name to the herb that helped infections... and where it grew

Sage opened his eyes when he heard the girl edge closer and then closed them again tiredly. Though, he figured that if he said no she'd be stubborn about it, so he huffed out a slight breath and nodded, swallowing a yelp from the movement. He shifted so he was in a position where the girl could get wherever she needed. He knew it would be bad....he just didn't know how bad. He could feel tendrils of burn marks and hot infection starting at the place the collar was at and snaking down his chest, shoulders, and parts of his back. He just hoped the girl wouldn't freak out too much...and he did hope she could help him out a bit more. Because it was getting to the point where it was hard to even breathe.

When she got the nod Quinn pulled down the shirt collar, trying not to touch his neck. She looked and stifled a gasp. How could she be SO STUPID she forgot how infected things could get?! There were red lines streaking down she didn't even know how far, and Quinn was sure the infection was terrible. She immediately stood and ran outside, looking for a specific plant. Chervil. It was the best for treating infection, along with some Poppyseed which was like a plant painkiller. She found both of them in record time, sprinting back... even though her pain was excruciating. She stirred them into some tea, giving it so Sage. "Please try really hard to drink this. The Chervil is natures miracle for infections, it will make the swelling and infection got doen immensely. The poppyseed will numb your body... so no more pain. Or at least very little of it. Depending on how bad I think is, the Poppy will wear off quickly, so I will go find more then we are moving. We only need to go a little further." Quinn explained. She refrained from mentioning along with being a painkiller... poppyseed also made you fall asleep. She decided it would be better for him to sleep now. When he awoke, they would go.

Sage sort of just sat there while the girl looked at things. They were obviously bad enough, considering how fast she ran to get herbs to help. Once she was gone, he sort of just lay back down and closed his eyes again, just wanting to sleep and let everything go away. It didn't happen though, and soon enough the girl came back in with a drink. It was admittedly quite a bit of effort to raise his head and drink. But, the poppyseed did settle the pain down a bit, and he passed out almost immediately after he finished the drink. It was a welcome rest...he was exhausted, and sleeping peacefully without nightmares or pain of any kind was very, very nice.

After Sage drank the tea... then passed out Quinn sighed gratefully. She then realized how much pain SHE was in... and how much she had been neglecting it. Quinn checked and had her fears confirmed. Her neck was infected, and there were little metal shavings in it. It was making it hard to breath... and hard to help Sage. She felt the cut on her cheek which was inflamed now... and that was in the beginning stages of infection also. Quinn muttered under her breath, too tired to go looking for more herbs. She laid down near Sage, passing out almost immediately after her head hit the ground.

Sage woke up eventually, though it was obviously late in the evening. Quinn was asleep next to him, and while he still felt awful, his head was clear enough to recognize the sickly scent of infection coming from the girl. He frowned slightly and forced himself up, following her trail as best he could to find the herbs he'd smelled in the drink. He wandered back and put it in some water, drinking more himself and setting a cup near the girl before passing out next to her again.

Quinn woke up drowsily next morning. She reached a hand up to touch her face and gasped. It was even more swollen, and hurt like... no pain she had ever felt before. She wondered how Sage could deal with it... his must be so much worse. Quinn saw the cup of tea beside her, but this looked fresh. She could get more... Quinn drank it, hoping this would help with getting Sage better. She then ran out and got more herbs... exhausting herself but not caring. "Sage? We should probably go. Drink this before we leave." She said quietly, not wanting to wake him up but knowing she needed to get one more trip in. She knew where they were, and she had the birds fly ahead and find a very good spot to stay for a while, a days ride away. When Sage drank the tea Quinn helped him get up, calling over Chaos and Sahara. She helped him onto his horse before jumping onto hers, moving into a soft canter.

Sage looked up at Sahara sleepily, still under some of the effects of the poppyseed but clambered up to his feet willingly when she said they had to go. He downed the drink, not wanting to waste much time. He was able to sit up on chaos for a bit, but after a while he got tired again, and his head started spinning, so he just held onto the horse like he had the days prior. He wasn't sure how long they rode for, but by the time they stopped he felt awful again. He wasn't very surprised, but if he wanted to get better, he had to rest for a few days, not keep this pace up. He trusted Quinn though, he really did.
