"Why...why's it not..." He started, face contorting to worry. "Oh my fucking god," Gale muttered under his breath, sinking to his knees as tears flowed over and streaked his face. "We lost it."

Kayla could barely hear him, trying to sit up. "What do...you mean?"

Gale could barely form words through sobs, chest racking with them. "It...it's dead, Rose....after all that time of making sure it was healthy, we lost it." He choked, trying to wipe away the tears that kept coming.

After all the time making sure she and the baby were healthy, 25 years of wanting a kid, just..lost it. Fate decided to take it before he could see the kid's first breath. It felt as though Gale's heart had been ripped out. He never cried, never did. But this? This got him to want to scream, to die. His throat felt raw, breath coming quick.
