Aria looked over at Sage and pursed her lips. "I think everyone does." She joked, walking over to the boy and wrapping her arms around him gently. "You okay?" She asked. "You look overwhelmed." She said. "You want me to give you some space to work?"

Sage felt a smile briefly cross his face at arias joke and then leaned into her with a sigh shen she came over to him. "No...I should probably take a break, but I wanted to get this all done and then spend some time with you."

Aria kissed the top of Sage's head and smiled. "Sage... you don't have to do that! I get it. There's a lot of work now days. You can finish it and i'll be waiting for you outside." She grinned. The girl hummed and looked out the window. "I'll be right outside that window. Okay?" Aria said.

Sage hummed lightly and nodded with a sigh. "Alright...I'll finish this letter and then I'll be out," he promised. "This is just important....it's been crazy and if I can't manage to defuse some things, war might break out and..." He trailed off, shaking his head at his babbling. She didn't need to hear it and worry...that was supposed to be his job.

Aria gave him a nervous grin. "Okay. See you soon." The girl smiled, walking out to a tree in the shade. She turned and looked at Sage in the window, giving him a slight wave. Aria smiled at him, her green eyes shining in the sunlight. She was scared. War, could get the best of him. Edited at April 6, 2023 08:01 PM by Brookfield Stables

Sage hummed and nodded lightly, waving to her again before turning back to the stacks of papers on his desk with a sigh. He was awful at diplomacy...so he didn't have much hope of defusing the conflict, but he certainly had to try. The current king, his father, was sick enough he couldn't do anything but sleep in bed, which left everything on Sage's shoulders. He didn't much care if his father died...in fact, it would make a prime source of his worries fade, but ruling a country just wasn't his thing. He supposed he didn't have a choice. He finished the letter and practically slammed it down, breaking his pencil and punching the wall in frustration of everything going on before taking a deep breath and joining Aria outside. His shoulders were tense, and everything hurt, so he just flopped down in the soft grass on his back and closed his eye, wanting to rest a bit. They could talk...but he just needed a moment to pull his thoughts together more.

Aria watched Sage come over. She knew something was wrong, and... he needed some time to pull all of this together. The girl stood up and smiled down at the boy before walking away carefully. Aria hated seeing Sage so angry. She walked to the lake where her mother was and sat in the tall, soft grass. She closed her eyes and felt the cool breeze blow around her as she put a hand on her belly softly. Edited at April 7, 2023 08:51 AM by Brookfield Stables

Sage opened an eye to watch the girl walk away. He knew she was trying to help, but she hadn't had to leave. He lay there for a bit before sighing again and walking over to her, sitting down next to her.

Aria noticed Sage sit down next to her. She laid her head on his shoulder gently, not wanting to upset him somehow. "You don't seem okay. I know this is hard, but... at some point you are going to rule the kingdom. Our baby, is going to be part royalty so... I guess you have no choice. I'll always be here for you though." She said smiling. The girl looked into Sage's amber eyes and grinned, before kissing him softly. "It'll all work out."

Sage smiled softly and nodded. "I know," he hummed. "I just don't know if I can avoid a war," he admitted. "And that's a big thing to have on your shoulders. I mean...I've only been into town twice, and I've never learned how to rule a kingdom," he half complained. "How am I supposed to keep them safe?"
