Iris answered him too quickly. "Yeah. Yup. Totally. I'm great." They were all lies, but the awkward silence was getting to her. Even her own voice sounded strange. Finally, she couldn't stand it. "Well... I should... Probably..." What was a good excuse? What was she doing before Caden came? Oh, right. Math. "I need to finish that math," she announced, standing abruptly and turning to leave.

Caden looked at her questionably, confused as he knew she was lying. "Uh yes, best you finish." He mused, watching as she walked off before running a hand over his face. Caden left a while later, once the rain had stopped.

Iris heard his comment, and his tone of disappointment almost made her turn around and go right back. But she knew she shouldn't, and instead climbed the stairs to her room. Once she made it in, she closed the door and leaned against it, breathing hard. That was one of the weirdest things that had happened to her, well, ever! . She tried to think through what in the world had just happened and why she had felt so weird. 'Well, after his friends left, I was more relaxed, not as nervous. But then he mentioned the storm, and I jumped because of the lightning, and accidentally stepped closer to him.' Just the memory of those things made her heart pound, and she found herself short of breath. But she had to dig deeper, figure out why things had happened that way. . 'Okay, next it started raining, and he suggested we go under cover. Then we both sat on the bench in awkward silence, and I finally bailed and came up here.' It didn't make sense. Nothing fit together. The answer wasn't there, and that terrified her. Iris felt tears burning her eyes, and she slid to the floor, still leaning on the door. Not only was she an anxious mess, she also didn't know why.

He returned back up to his dorm, shutting the door and putting in his airpods and playing one of his playlists as he flopped down on his bed. His math was left unopened on his desk, begging him to come complete it though he didnt. Caden didn't know why she was so....awkward around him. Had he done something? Or was she like that with everyone? That was his question as he went and showered, brushed his teeth, and stared at the ceiling as he tried to drift off.

Iris cried for a minute before breathing shakily, pulling herself together. She really did need to finish that math. The digital clock by her bed read 7:49, and she hadn't even eaten dinner yet. Iris sighed. 'After math. Math first, then dinner.' She sat down, took a sharpened pencil, and got to work. . Thirty minutes later, the lesson's problems were finished, and Iris had showered and changed. She looked outside to see that the rain had stopped, and decided to get food out. She knew of a place near her house that served really good salad, so she grabbed her purse and headed down to her car.

Caden couldnt sleep. Most likely since he hadn't ate yet. He went downstairs and unlocked his c8, hopping in and driving off to some random chain in town. After he ate he came back to the dorm, seeing it was 8:30 and seeing a party was happening a few blocks down. Caden decided to head over, seeing Max, Brandon, and Dmitri all half wasted and joining them.

She unlocked her little SUV and drove six minutes to the restaurant. She got a Caesar salad and fruit bowl to go, and drove back to campus. She made it back to her room and ate the food, still feeling hungry afterward. Iris sighed. She had finished the night's work and wasn't tired, and didn't know what to do. She finally settled on walking around town. It always helped her think, seeing all the people and coffee shops and such. A coffee might do her good. No, it was too late. Better to just walk around.

Cops got called. Some Karen decided to call them for a quiet party which they described 'disturbance to peace and blinding' when it was still daylight outside. Party got shut down and Caden stumbled out, half carried by his friends as he snatched another beer off the table. Max yanked it away and tossed it, Caden not trying to reach for it and just trying to end up in front of his car and not some random's. He eventually made it back to the c8, driving back to the dorms and walking up to his room. The man went straight to bed, head pounding as he regretted drinking too much.

A small bookshop caught Iris's eye. She had to duck inside, to at least see what they had. She wasn't into fiction, but any book that had something to do with school was always given a chance . She saw a book about why the English language is stupid, and smiled, thinking of Caden. Hardly giving it a thought, she bought the book and continued on. She got back to her room around 9:45, now tired enough that she thought she could sleep. She changed into pajamas and ducked under the covers, sinking into their warm weight. She was asleep within ten minutes.

Caden awoke to his alarm blaring and smacked it, the beeping going silent. He groaned, running a hand over his face as his head spun. The man got up and went over to the bathroom, hurling a time or two before heading to get dressed for the day and what not.
