She jumped at the sound of a voice. A human voice. "Holy shit." She whispered. (Are you okay with swearing?) She weighed the options in her head. Worst comes to worst it was some old recording or something. She took off sprinting through the woods toward the sound, the sound of infrastructure collapsing reaching her ears. She came in time to see the dust settling. She circled the cabin carefully, looking around thoroughly before she came closer to the cabin. "Hello? Is anyone there?" Her voice was soft and a bit hoarse from lack of use, but it shouldve been music to his ears. She advanced on the wreckage, taking another look around like a wary deer. She kicked some wood from the edge away to try and survey the situation more, but there wasnt much she could do without knowing where this mystery person was. If that mystery person was actually a person, anyway. She thought back to the brief shout she heard. All she could get from it was that it was male, and that male was surprised. Helpful.

( yes...short response cause its 11 am and im tired)
When Xander gained his consciousness his vision was blurry...and for a moment all he could hear was ringing. And then he heard a voice, not a zombie...a person. Am I hallucinating? Or dead? He looked around, coughing as he inhaled some of the kicked-up dirt that had whirled through the area after the cabin crashed. "Yes, I'm over here! and most defiantly alive.." He shouted, just to wince as the pain came rolling in...it was mostly his wrist, well besides from a bunch of wounds from the wood...Xander had sat up and was clearing some of the wood away from him, He wasn't dead... or hallucinating- or hearing things for that matter. This voice, this was an actual human being...probably the first he's heard in months. Edited at May 27, 2023 10:41 PM by Wistera

"Holy shit." An arbitrary grin spread across her face and something bubbled out of her. It sounded like- a giggle. An actual giggle. She shook her head and cleared her throat, walking through the wreckage to the source of his voice and shifting wood away from him quickly. "Im here, i've got you." She was there for what felt like and eternity, digging wood away from him, getting splinters, struggling overall, until... Sun filtered down on a face. A human face. A face that didnt have rotting skin, or sunken eyes, or a green tinge. And all her brain could think to do was stop and stare down at him. The blinked rapidly, her mouth open slightly in shock. She was pretty sure she wouldve hugged him right then and there if he werent covered in debris.

He could feel some of the weight of the wood being lifted away, and then the beaming heat of the sun, which was almost blocked...by a person, and an actual PERSON. "Are you real?" He looked up at her, moving some of the wood away as he was able to slip his arms out of the mess of wood. "Wow.." was all he could say when he got a better view of her, yup, defiantly human. Xan looked around, trying to regain his sense of direction and memory...apparently, the house couldn't bare stand any longer and collapsed, he was lucky to be alive...He soon directed his attention to clearing the rest of the rubble away and brushing himself off. "Your not infected...are you?" He quickly asked, scanning her once more.

She blinked at him as her brain forgot how to English. "Well, I prefer to think of myself as an angel- but- yes, I'm real." She watched him move around, blinking and trying to clear her brain. "What? No, im not infected." She sounded snappy, offended. You save someones life and then, poof, they ask if you're infected. She gave herself a few moments to take in the appearance of the harsh looking man. "Seeing as you just asked me that, i'll assume you aren't. What did you do to get in this mess?" She gestured to the wreckage and stood up, pulling her hair out of its bun in a fluid movement. Her hair cascaded down her shoulders and she looked down at him inquisitively.

"I don't know! I wasn't thinking properly...the building obviously couldn't hold much longer." He laid his head back in defeat but snickered. "Right, I remember, I went into the cabin to look for supplies...all I found was a corpse, next thing I knew the roof was collapsing and I was too far from the door to escape." He finally said, getting to his feet while trying to avoid the pain. "I haven't seen another human in a very long time." Xan looked around, then at the mess of wood..."I lost my gun..." He sighed, looking around in the wood for any sign of it.

"You're the first ive seen since the... well, You know. I can get you a gun, just stop moving." She walked over to him and grabbed his wrist, holding it while she looked around for any obvious lacerations. "Do you have any cuts, splinters, sprains, broken bones?" She tilted her head to glance at his back and inspected his arms. She dropped her satchel on the ground and looked back up at him, holding his wrist firmly in case he tried to refuse treatment.

He tried to jerk his wrist away...but she had already grabbed it. "Don't touch it-" Xan quickly said, attempting to pull back. Fuck that hurts. "Oh well I don't know, it's not like EVERYTHING is hurting." he snapped, looking somewhat annoyed. Xander looked at her, "Let go of my wrist, your going to make my pain worse." He said, still quite annoyed, his wrist was hurting him the most...and now the pain might have doubled, He did feel light-headed, maybe he was just tired? that probably wasn't the case though, he hadn't sustained any major head injuries, it was mostly just cut...and maybe a sprained ankle...probably a broken wrist, yet that didn't seem to bad to him as it could have been worse.

She raised her eyebrows up at him and slid her hand up his arm so she wasnt grabbing his wrist. "So, its your wrist?" She leaned down and grabbed something out of her satchel with her other hand. "I can tell you're in pain, and if you don't want to risk permanent damage, you will sit down or I will make you sit down." She glared up at him, getting just as snappy. Even being a half foot shorter than him, it wasnt hard to believe she would make good on her threat.

"Well obviously." He rolled his eyes, Just let go. Xander said to himself, was he really going to let her boss him around? For now... he would- because the pain was getting worse. "Yeah right, whatever..." He sat down. Looking at himself for any bad scraps...so far so good, there weren't any major injuries which relieved him. He was thankful to her for helping him, but he decided quickly that he wasn't going to admit it. One of the reasons he did obey her suggestion was because this, like he said, was the first person he'd seen in months, he wasn't just going to walk off like it was nothing.
