Its fine!
Dakota huffed, Once again, He was left with setting up the training course for the today. Sometimes he thought that the stables decided not to hire stable hands just to see the rider's suffering, especially him. While other riders were off on trail rides, practicing, and other fun activities he was stuck with the dirty work, Yet what else was he to expect? He was one of the barn manager's most trusted riders- and one of the best competitors on their showjumping team. The worst part of setting up the course is that the arena was huge, Which defiantly tired him after finishing. Dakota placed the rale a space above the other one, He secured it into place, Shit. Dakota had scraped his hand while adjusting the pole, It wasn't bleeding, But with him practicing, He didn't want it to get infected so he stopped what he was doing and walked back into the stables & into the space-ish tack room. To the right of the door was a small med drawer which was there in case of accidents, He opened the drawer and grabbed the soft thread bandage, and wrapped it around his hand before tossing it back in and closing it. The temptation to abandon his duty seemed to catch his mind as he looked over at all the saddles.

A black 2000 Chevy Corvette pulled up the stable driveway. The engine shut off and the driver door swung open. A girl with long blonde hair and blue eyes stepped out. She was wearing nice ridding clothes, and tall black ridding boots. She pocketed the keyes and closed the car door. Lyla walked to the barn and to Star's stall. The Flea Bitten Gray mare stuck her head out of her stall and nickered to Lyla as her owner walked to her stall. Once Lyla reached her horses stall, she grabbed her halter off the hook. ''Hey girly'' She said as she entered the stall. The young woman slipped the halter onto the young mare and led her from the stall and to the crossties. After tying the mare, Lyla went and got her brushs and tack from the tack room. She set the tack on the saddle rack by the tie stall and brushed Star. Edited at April 7, 2023 06:38 PM by KA Horse Co.

After much debate of discussing the pros and cons with himself, Dakota decided that he would abandon his job and deal with the consequences later. Before he started competing in Showjumping, He use to compete in CrossCountry, So hopefully, If no one was there... He would ride the course with Grace. Dakota grabbed a Cross Country saddle and headed out of the tack room- And if anything could get worse, There, not very far from him, was his worst rival, Lyla. He prayed silently she didn't notice him as he opened the stall and pat Grace who seemed quite excited to see him. He slid the sage saddle pad onto Grace and then the saddle, Slipping out of the stall he grabbed the equines sage bridle that was one of many with the name "Grace" engraved on it in copper rose. He put the bridle on Grace who was now getting impatient. Edited at April 7, 2023 06:26 PM by Savannah Stables

Lyla saw Dakota carring a XC saddle. "I thought he quit Cross County'' She mumbled to Star as she placed the light pink saddle pad onto the mares back, then her saddle. She leaned down and put Star's athletic boots on. The woman stood back up and slid the mares halter off, placing the ear bonnet on, and slipping her bridle on Star. Lyla led her young mare from the tie stall, her brushes and halter in the other hand. She set them outside Star's stall. As she passed Grace's stall she said to Dakota, ''Thought you quit Cross Country''not waiting for a responce, she led the young mare to the arena and put her helmet on. After mounting up, she started around the arena, warming Star up

Dakota had finished adjusting the saddle to make it comfortable for Grace when the unforgettable voice of his rival passed by, He was about to respond when Lyla took off with Star, 'It wasn't your business anyway' he said quietly, to himself as Grace neighed loudly. "Okay Okay we are going." He took a hold of Grace's bridle and led her out of the stable towards the Cross Country course, He looked over at Lyla who just had to be warming up in the arena closest to the Cross Country course. 'Great' A few steps away from the Course Dakota put his foot into the stirrup and mounted Grace. He warmed her up as he walked down to the course prepping Grace for the jumps.

Star whinnied to Grace as they passed eachother. Lyla glared at Dakota. She turned Star towards the jumps and approached the first one at a canter. Being 2ft high, Star cleared it easily. They approached the next one, 2.5ft high. Star cleared that one easily too. The jumps got higher, each one higher than the last, the smallest being 2ft, and the highest being 6ft. Star cleared each jump perfectly. Lyla went over them 3 times, then cooled Star down. She dismounted and led the young Arabian out of the arena and mounted back up. She rode to the trails and took a left, going down one that led to the waterfalls. Star trotted down the trail, Lyla posting in time with the beat of the mares trot. They soon reached the water fall.

Dakota took a moment to watch Lyla, Look at her.. Showing off, I bet she thinks she's better than me...yet that's only true in her dreams. As Lyla continued warming up Star he turned to grace and slowed her into a steady, almost perfect trot. After lining up at the start of the course, He leaned down closer to Grace "Show Star, Grace, Show her." He patted her neck before beckoning her into a canter and taking off, The first obstacle was a 4ft barn, With concentration, he came closer to the barn and jumped it nicely with a perfect landing, The next obstacle was a small dip in the ground which was a jump upwards, These jumps were Grace's specialty, So with ease, They cleared it nicely, Dakota was mostly focused on the jumps yet every obstacle they passed he felt more and more impressed with Grace.

Lyla turned back to the stables. Once they got back, she dismounted and took her helmet off, then led Star into the barn. She put her horse in the crossties and unsaddle her, then brushed her. After doing that, she hosed Star off then led the mare to the paddock. She turned Star loose and gave her a few treats. After eating the treats, Star nuzzled Lyla, then trotted off to graze. Lyla walked back to the barn and carried her tack to the tack room. She sat down on a bench and started to clean her tack.
