(No worries. I'm not giving you much to work with right now lmao, not feeling too good) Mari followed him back to the little stables after a moment or two and gave the boy a bit of a smile. "I'll tell the doctor you'll be up in a bit then. I need to make sure everyone has lunch... I might just make some sandwiches or toasties... they're really quite nice," she told him with an excited type of grin. Three times a day, she got to work with food - and she'd normally go all out for every single meal, but today was just one of those days where she wanted something simple. She could make some other little bits too... make it a bit like a picnic to eat inside. She then moved to the boy and skipped off to make five or six of those meals... it didn't take her long, so she soon showed up in the doctor's ward with a cart full of food. She handed out the little plates to everyone before going to give one to the doctor... there were two left, but they were for her and Sage. She'd eat hers whenever he came up, mainly because she didn't want him eating along. She handed the plate to the old man with a grin. "There you are, sir," she chirped before making herself comfortable like she always did on the chair across from him. "He's cute," she cooed lightly to the ban with the biggest grin. "Sage, I mean - you know he talks to the horses? I saw him do it yesterday, too... he has full-on conversations with them," she mused brightly.

(no worries, I hope you feel better!) Sage nodded and waved the girl off with a grin before making sure the two horses were settled. After that, he made up all the feeds and fed the horses, leaving chaos for last as usual. He was glad to see the stallion, since he'd spent more time with the filly. He slipped into the stallions back as he dipped his head to eat, like usual, only he knew he couldn't stay long. "I don't have much time bud," he sighed, watching the stallions left ear flick back as he started talking. "I'll come back later though, don't worry," he hummed. He decided he had a few minutes to relax ....he had to lay there for a bit to get his energy back anyway. Meanwhile, the doctor took the plate with a chuckle and a nod. "Yes, he talk with that stallion of his more than any person I've ever seen," he told the girl in a rather amused manner. "He's quite fond of the animals." He shrugged and started to eat, glad for the meal.

Mari chuckled lightly to the man. She really didn't get the boy's like for the animals... of course, she thought they were pretty, but they weren't really... well, she didn't know how to explain it. She just didn't get it... like, at all. She could definitely say it was nice to see him so happy though, considering she'd only ever seen him so... sad. "It's not just that stallion of his... it was this mare and the filly. He was having a conversation with him, and you'd almost think they understood by the way they were looking at him," she noted with a grin. "And I got to see him all curled up with the horses too - and I have to say he looked ever so comfortable."

The doctor chuckled and nodded. "I suppose saving their lives he'd get attached," he hummed. "Maybe I should speak to the queen about letting him keep his own little herd. She doesn't use them, and it would be healthy for the boy," he mused, sitting back in his chair. He was about to say more, but then Sage burst into the room and doubled over panting, but pointed to the clock. "See, I'm not late...for meds," he wheezed, flopping down on the couch. Amusement flickered in the doctors eyes and he nodded. "Wonderful. Once you take meds and eat, you can go help Mari clean up the operation table." Sage groaned and rolled his eyes but nodded...the older man had a hard time bending down to scrub the table he operated on, so he was fine with helping him out.

The girl nodded in thought... well, the boy could maybe look after the mares in foal if he really wanted to. And the youngstock. But she'd have to run that past the queen, and the head of guards, because the knights and soldiers were the main ones to use the horses. There were only really a few that the royals actually used, and they were the carriage horses and their own steeds. "He enjoys it. And it would get him out of the castle... I don't see any harm in asking. I'll send a letter to the princess and get her to talk to the queen, though. She's likely to have more luck with the matter." The girl looked to Sage when he came bursting in, a bit of an amused chuckle escaping her when he folded on the couch. She then went to grab the plates and offered one to Sage. "I made toasties! Or grilled cheese, or whatever you call them. One has ham and cheese and the other just has cheese. Take your pick, I suppose," she hummed lightly after putting the plates down on the side table and grabbing the boy his meds and a glass of water. Edited at January 31, 2023 02:22 AM by Belle

Sage looked over at the girl in a rather surprised manner when she shoved the plates in his direction. He hadn't noticed she was there ...he'd just been focused on getting there on time so he could shove it in the doctors face. He shrugged and grabbed a sandwich, not really caring which one it was. "Which one do you like better," he asked. "I don't really care. If it's not trash again I'll eat anything," he chirped.

The girl grinned and him when he said he'd eat whatever, then handed him the one with ham and cheese. The girl smiled slightly and went to sit back down next to the doctor again. "The doctor just suggested getting you a little herd to look after... you know, so you're not just doing random horses? How'd you feel about that?" She asked with a slightly cocked head. She did think it would be a good idea. The boy liked the animals, and it was nice to see him with them, so why not? He could probably make some money off it, too.

Sage cocked his head at the girl and then looked at the doctor curiously. "I mean...I'd love that but it would take some convincing to get the queen to agree to that," he hummed. "And who knows when they'll even be back here." He shrugged slightly and nibbled at his sandwich, thinking. "It would be nice though...but I'd help with the rest of them still too. They're all sweet." He wrinkled his nose slightly. "Except buttercup. She's mean when she's pregnant," he chuckled. He still liked the mare though.

The girl shrugged and gave a bit of a sigh. "Well, you can look after them for them for the time being. I'm sure if I ask the princess she'll try and talk to the queen. I mean, I need to keep in contact so they knew I'm working anyway... so it's worth mentioning," she hummed lightly before taking a bite into the toastie... she gave a bit of a groan as she did that and a small chuckle... she was clearly hungry. She hadn't eaten since the day before, and it seemed to show. "Well if you were pregnant I'd bet you'd be grumpy too!" She told him with a bit of a laugh.

Sage hummed and nodded, taking another bite of the food he'd gotten before shrugging. "Anya knows I like the horses so she'd probably be fine with it," he hummed. He chuckled slightly and nodded. "I can't wait to show her little mystery...she'll be head over heels for her," he hummed lightly. He snorted out a laugh at the girls next comment and nodded. "I'm grumpy enough without having another human growing inside me," he chuckled. "can you imagine me popping out a baby?" The doctor winced slightly and shook his head. "You'd be fine once it came out, but I'd hate to watch the month prior to that," he hummed rather amused at the conversation.
