"Would you...Mind sleeping in here? With me?" SHe asked quietly
| |
| |

Ben hesitated, but decided it wouldn't hurt anything. "Not at all," he said. "I'll be back in a second." He went into the guest room where his things were, changed, and came back into Emma's room in sweats and a rumpled T-shirt.

She nodded and changed the same time he did

Ben turned off the light and got into bed, gently pulling the covers over them both. He didn't fall asleep until he was sure Emma was.
| |

Emma fell asleep rather quickly, waking the in the middle of the night. She was shaking and clammy, a nightmare having grabbed her unconciousness. She was breathing heavy, sitting up rather fast

| |

Ben felt her movement and sat up as well, waking from a troubled night's sleep, looking at her in concern. "Are you okay?" He asked, not sure why she was up.
| |

"Just in my head...Just a nightmare...He's not here....I'm fine..." She said, shaking and crying
| |
| |

"It's alright. You're okay. I'm here. He won't come back," Ben murmured reassuringly, holding her and rocking a little.
| |

She cried into his shirt quietly, shaking with fear as memories she'd fought against so hard came flooding back
| |
| |

Ben didn't know what to do. It seemed like he could never do enough, no matter how much he did. He did the only thing he could think of. He started humming the song from before, and soon it calmed him down as well.
