The girl shook her head slightly, and admittedly she did get a little jumpy when the horse moved his head to look at her, but after a moment tried a weary smile and gently held her hand out for the horse to sniff at. "I don't believe I need to ask. I hear you getting shouted but Anya plenty enough, and the doctor has his fair share of complaints, too," she hummed with a bit of a laugh. She did know the doctor loved the boy like his own, though - and as much as he complained, they did get along. After a bit, she yawned quietly before carefully climbing off the fence. "It's about time for me to go," the girl huffed wearily. "Try and get to bed at a decent time. You'll get better with more rest," she hummed lightly.

Sage chuckled slightly when the girl heasitantly reached out towards the stallion...she quite obviously wasn't a fan, but that was fine. Chaos behaved pretty well too...at least, he didn't make any move to hurt the girl. He sniffed her for a moment before snorting and dropping his head to graze again. He hummed in agreement to the girl's comment about him getting yelled at. "Yelled is the wrong word. More like... threatened in a loving way," he muttered, his voice laced with a kind of fondness. He nodded when the girl made a move to go back, and warned him to get decent rest. "I'll be fine. It's not my body that needs most of the healing," he murmured softly, looking back down at the stallion. He'd stay there for a bit longer, but he did want to get back to the castle before dark...he didn't really feel like wandering through the dark woods alone. Not now, after they were attacked. Right now, it would be easy for another wave of rebels to overtake the castle. Besides, he was tired and needed to sleep...but he'd spent most of his nights drawing anyway, so sleep hadn't been a close friend of his recently. But whatever.

Mari nodded lightly and gave a soft wave to the boy before taking the tray back to the kitchen to wash everything up, but not before going around and grabbing all of the dirty plates from the ward. She'd rather do all the washing now rather than have to do it tomorrow, anyway. She then went to the doctor and let the old man know she was going to make a move before grabbing the little tray and heading out... she could have stayed in the castle, but it almost seemed safer to go back into her little family house. There was enough food for everyone, too... so they could share out the leftovers if they hadn't eaten. It was just her mother and two brothers left - one younger and one older, and yet they both worked, while their mother, Kira spent most of the time making sure the house didn't get robbed. She rather enjoyed their company... they were good people, and although she did spend most of her time up in the castle and rarely went home, she had to admit she did like the warm welcome she always got, even if it was just for a couple of days before going back to the maids quarters.

Sage had to admit the girl wasn't as annoying as he'd first thought. In fact, she was quite nice. Of course, that didn't mean he trusted her quite yet, but if they spent more time together, which was likely considering they were in the same general area most of the day, they might get to know and trust eachother a bit more. He was reluctant to get to know someone too well though....it seemed like all his close friends and family had died, except for his dad but that didn't count. Actually, he had no idea if his dad was alive or not...if he'd been killed in the raid, or starved, or even drank too much. He didn't know. That was scary too...he could show up at any time. He shivered, and looked up at the setting sun before patting chaos bye wand practically sprinting back to the castle, nerves tingling and eye darting around like a rabbits. He hated to get so upset by even a single thought of his father....but he couldn't help it. Just like he still couldn't help but jump at sudden noises, or certain sounds.

The girl was met by a very surprised squeak from her youngest brother, Xander... he had to have been about ten, and in truth, she hasn't seen him very much. He seemed to have grown a hell of a lot since the last time she'd seen him. The oldest of her siblings, Anthony, wasn't anywhere to be seen. She saw him a lot more since occasionally he'd go and do some jobs in the castle, but when she was home he was always off doing... something. Anything to get extra money, really. They were pretty well off... they had a nice little cottage, it was humble, but nice all the same, and they could afford simple needs like food, water and clothes. It always smelt nice in there... whatever incents her mother was always burning made for a comforting atmosphere. Still, it was nice to have a little extra for slightly nicer things. She briefly mentioned to the two that were in the house that the princess had gone off, so she wasn't too sure if she'd still had money coming in... she mentioned working in the tavern again, then pulled out the food... just as the china tray hit the table, Anthony walked in, covered in soot and who knows whatever else. He'd been helping out on a local farm, so she didn't know what the man had been doing, though his eyes did light up at the sight of the lasagna. Mari covered it from him before telling him to go get showered... they all sat down for their meal once he was back, and her mother offered to clear up while she went to wash off before getting into bed... her head hit the pillow, and as soon as she opened her eyes she seemed to fall straight into a rather deep sleep.

Sage reached the castle relitively quickly, and scrambled into his room, almost sliding on all the papers that lined the floor. He really had drawn too much ...and his hands were covered with blisters from it, so it hurt and he didn't really want to make them worse but...it was that or scratch his skin raw, so he supposed he should probably pick drawing. Neither was a perfect option, but one did seem to be the lesser of the two evils, and, well...he'd made a promise to Anya, and he didn't intend to break it. But then again...if he was intentionally drawing even though he knew it would make the blisters worse....was that breaking his promise of not to hurt himself? A knowing doubt clawed at his stomach, twisting it around, and he had to force himself to keep the lasagna in his stomach. He didn't want to throw up meds...they were expensive and somewhat hard to come by

Mari slept through the night fairly easily, and found herself awake at about five thirty in the morning she tried, hard to get back to sleep, but it didnt work. Whatever, shed just have an early start. It was a Sunday so she could go and start making a Sunday dinner for the patients and make sure it was perfect for them. And she could make sure to make enough for herself and her family, too. She had to admit, it was nice seeing them again. She only got to see them once or twice a week and she felt like she was missing so much in their lives. Especially with her youngest sibling he was going to school now, which neither her or Anthony had gotten the chance to do. They just never had the money, she supposed. She quickly got dressed and wrapped up warm before grabbing the china dish and taking it back towards the castle. Once in, she went straight for the kitchen. She prepared a roast and had it in the cooker for a little bit, then took it out to rest again. In a couple of hours shed put it back in it should be good, or she hoped so, at least. She then went to the ward, and by then it was about seven in the morning. Most people should be up by then then again, it was a Sunday so they might choose to sleep in. Whatever, she could hand out meds now and do bandages in a couple of hours. She went to say hi to the doctor, who already looked like hed been up for hours before she went around the the squeaky trolly, handing out small cups of water and pain medicine for each patient that needed it.

Sage didn't sleep much that night, as per the recent usual. He wondered why...the first few days after the news about Luther all he did was sleep. So why couldn't he rest now? Whatever. He'd decided to draw all night again, and had added many pages to the piles on the floor. Some were of the new girl, some were of the doctor, and a lot of them were chaos, but most of them were Luther. It made sense he supposed...the boy had been what was on his mind most. He probably looked awful, but that didn't matter. The doctor had started his rounds, had seen him and dropped off some food, which he'd ignored completely. He was still drawing in the morning, though did end up falling asleep leaning against the window sill, paper and pen in hand around five in the morning.

The young woman handed out medication to everyone, and had a short conversation with a couple of people who had the energy to be awake. Not that there were many of those people, though. She dropped off the trolly once the doctor had told her who needed certain things, and by then it was about eight thirty. She could go and get something to eat before seeing to everyone... though it wouldn't have been much. She found that her mornings were a lot busier than her evenings, which was fine because it meant she got to slow down a little bit. Relax. Once she was done, she went to do a couple of checks on everyone... she hadn't seen the other boy that morning. In truth, she normally just left the doctor to deal with him because he was, well, difficult. Very difficult. Still, she poked her head through to say good morning, a couple of bandages in her hand so that she could swap them over. She'd seen the scap peel off with it the day before, and the more they changed them the the less likely it was that the scabs would cling on like that. Though, when she looked in, she found that he was sat up against the window, pretty much fast asleep. She frowned slightly and carefully stepped over all of his drawings to gently tap him on the shoulder. She was careful not to scare him awake... she got the feeling he was pretty jumpy. Once he was awake, she gave a small smile and patted his back gently. "You'll be more comfortable in bed, I'm sure," she hummed lightly before gesturing towards the bed.

Sage almost jumped out of his skin when he felt someone tap him, though he did realize that the girl was making a conscious effort not to scare him, so he relaxed a bit once he was awake. He blinked at the girl groggily, and then looked over at the bed with a sigh. "It's so far away, though," he groaned, almost in a joking way than anything else. "You sound like Anya," he grumbled, though it wasn't an angry or annoyed grumble, more just....a tired one. He slowly released his pencil and the book he had his current paper on, wincing slightly as the blisters detached from the items and the air hit them. Well, that was lovely. He sighed and put them on the side table and looked back at the girl. "did you need something," he asked, still rather tired, but not wanting to just go back to bed and ignore her completely. She had things in her hands...no doubt going to make a fuss over his wrists or something, but he was really too tired to argue right about then.
