Flo sighed. "yeah..." was all she could say as she scooted closed to Sage's side. She closed her eyes and placed a hand on his chest, feeling his heartbeat through his shirt

Sage just squeezed her in what he hoped would be comforting, and resting his head against hers tiredly. He felt a smile form on his face when she rested her hand on his chest, but was already falling asleep quickly, so he passed out without saying anything more.

Florida traced small shapes across his shirt until she felt his breathing slow. She let out a small breath. "Goodnight Sage" she whispered before closing her eyes again, letting her brain unwind for a second before she too had fallen asleep

Sage had heard her voice, but was too far asleep to really register what she'd said. He sort of hummed quietly before falling completely asleep, just wantign to acknowledge her. He was out cold pretty quickly though...he really was very tired by then. It had been....quite the day. For all of them.

Florida woke the next day to the feeling of rough hands around her arm. Her eyes widened when she noticed there was a hand covering her mouth. She looked around until her eyes landed on James. He had a wicked smile on his face as he pulled her from Sage's grasp, dragging her down the hall. She kicked and struggled against his grip, trying to scream but failing

Sage stirred slightly when she was moved, subconsciously moving since the warmth was now gone. He was in too deep a sleep to do much other than that though...it hadn't been very long since he'd fallen asleep as of then.

James gripped her tighter as he stumbled down the hall. Florida was able to move his finger just enough to scream. "Sage!" She cried out, struggling in her fathers grip. The man seemed to pick up the pace as he kicked open the double doors. A blast of cool air whirled around Flo and she kicked James in the shin. He growled as he shifted her in his arms, one hand struggling to cover her mouth.

Sage sort of jerked awake when she yelled, confused for a bit before he noticed she was no longer with him, and could hear the slam of the doors thanks to his good hearing. He took off then, running after them and lunging at the man, knocking him to the ground and planting himself on all fours, next to Florida protectively, a nasty sounding snarl coming from his throat, lips drawn back to reveal canines he normally kept hidden. Hopefully, it would deter the man, since he wasn't sure he could win a fight, with being hurt and all.

Flo had just about lost hope that Sage could hear her when he suddenly barged through the door. She froze for a second when he charged and didn't even have time to think before she was knocked from James's grasp and lying motionless on the ground. It took her a few seconds to breath befre she could will herself to move. When she finally did, James was scooting backward, his eyes wide as Sage growled at him. James pulled himself to his feet, his legs shaking slightly from whatever previous injury he had just made worse. "I'll be back for Florida" he promised, wiping blood from a scratch on his bottom lip. "And next time I won't be leaving alone" without another word, he turned and limpe away. With the new silence, tears sarted to slide down her cheeks, the situation finally dawning on her. Flo sat on the ground, her body shaking slightly as she fought back the tears. "Sage... Now what..?"

Sage simply stared James in the eye as the man threatened him, pupils having narrowed into a thin slit. It was unnerving, he knew, but he could only hope it was effective. The man seemed pretty set on taking her though, that was obvious. "You can try," he noted, voice low and teeth still bared. He watched the man dissapear, strainign his eyes and ears and nsoe until he could no longer sense the man. "I don't know," he admitted, turning to look back at Florida wearily. "But I think we have some time before he'll be back," he mused softly, turning to look at her, still tense and on all fours. He didn't go into this 'mode' often....but he wouldn't easily be getting abck out of it now.
