Mari nodded to the doctor in slight agreement. In truth, she didn't think there were any battles that weren't worth fighting... well, maybe there were a few, but this didn't seem to be one of them. She squeaked before scowling at the boy when the water splashed her, and quickly went to wash her hands. "Well, there's no fighting with mules, is there?" She huffed after a moment before shaking her head. "Or children for that matter," she snarled at the boy before going to sit back down and grabbing a small vile of... something to help keep infection out before handing it to the rather exasperated looking Sage. Although, he did have a slight smirk on his face which did send slight annoyance through her. "Put some of that and then wrap yourself up," she told him after a couple of moments before picking up a bandage ready for him. She looked back to the doctor with a cocked head. "Even I could afford a horse. Why on earth did you have a mule?" She asked with a bit of a laugh.

Sage huffed and yanked the vial from the girls hand to pour it over his wrist. He let out a much louder string of curses this time, though he stopped with a huff when the doctor gave him a sharp look. The doctor looked back at Mari with a chuckle and shrugged. "Because the mule could carry more weight. I always carried all my stuff around with me for some reason." He snorted and looked over at sage, who by then was winding the new bandage up around his wrist. "Tighter," he chided the boy, ignoring the glare he sent his direction and turning to carry the box out of the room.

Mari couldn't help the small chuckle that escaped her when the doctor said he carried everything around. It was definitely an amusing thought. And when she thought about it, she could definitely see him as a little boy wondering around on his little mule, of whom was completely packed with bags. He probably got very teased for it too... though, she didn't actually know where the old man was from. It might have been very normal for whenever he was from. And the time, too, she supposed. When the man walked out, she gave a bit of a wave before taking the vile back off the boy and placing it down on an empty tray. She watched him wind the bandage around his wrist for a moment before wrinkling her nose. "He said tighter. That's just faster," she chuckled with a slight shake of the head before stepping forwards and taking the bandage off him and unwinding it from him a little, then she cut the end off and started to re wrap it for him. She tied it off after a little while and sat back down once she was done. "You know, by the looks of you you'd think you know how to look after yourself," she huffed, rolling her eyes slightly as she looked over his countless scars and then went back to restocking the trays.

Sage huffed out a breath at the girl's comment. His wrapping was fine...a bit sloppy maybe, but it was functional. He let the girl take his hand and wrap it though, since he could admit two hands were easier than one in this situation. He snorted at her second comment and shook his head, starting to unwind the other wrists bandage. 'i can help myself just fine. The old man's just particular," he huffed, though of course he wasn't upset with the doctor. He quite liked his bossy nature sometimes. They could both annoy eachother sometimes, but it was still nothing that kept them apart. He was soon done with the next hand, since he was using his dominant one to do the work this time, and reached for another bandage to roll up for the doctor. They were almost done...maybe he'd visit the barn after this. He could use some quiet, he supposed, and he knew he shouldn't sit around all day, even if that's what he wanted to do.

Mari rolled her eyes at him slightly, obviously disagreeing with that statement. "If you could help yourself and do it properly, then I'm pretty sure you would," she hummed lightly. Once they'd finished, the girl moved the trolleys so that they were lined up and ready to go. It was all the things that she'd need for the next few days, so she supposed she could relax a bit more. Not that she done much work the way it was. She normally worked for the queen - and there was a small space in time when she stopped to work in a tavern for a while, for a bit of extra money, but she'd spent most of her life working up here. Now that the queen had gone, though, she was lost for things to do, and really the doctor was the only person that had anything for her to do. She'd make small meals for the patients and tend ti their needs, but that was it. There wasn't much else to do, she supposed. It was about three in the afternoon before they'd finished, and when she saw the boy about to leave she huffed slightly. "Be back in a couple of hours. I get in trouble if you don't get your meds in time," she warned with a slight huff before wandering off to the kitchen. She might as well get a bit of a dinner stated, anyway.

Sage glanced back at the girl and huffed out a breath, waving her concerns away. "it's just pain meds and stuff to keep me from freaking out and running off somewhere," he muttered. "I took some this morning I'll be fine." He was out the door then, heading for the barn. Well, hed be back...he did know meds were important, and he did know they helped. So, he didn't really care what the other girl said, he'd be back. Unless he fell asleep or something, of course.

The girl wandered towards the kitchen, and to behonest she really quite enjoyed cooking... she was good at it, and the sense of pride she got when someone liked whatever she made was something she lived for. Making people happy, she supposed. Well, to a certain extent. She'd make the people she wanted to be happy, happy, and the poeple she wanted to be miserable, well, they'd be miserable. It was simple, really. There wasn't much left in the cupboards, not other than some pasta sheets, beef and cheese. She could make up some stock and tomato sauce and put a lasagne together in a couple of hours... it would be good for sick patients too, and she had to admit it was a favorite of hers. So, she quickly put everything together in a large china tray and lit the oven, waiting until she thought it was hot enough, then slid the tray in there... it would take roughly an hour to cook, so she could take her time washing up before taking the tray over to the ward.

Sage wandered down the hallway and then out of the castle, walking slowly down the paths towards the barn. He'd sort of taken over caring for all the horses, since the guards left here were busy, and the maids were all cleaning. Well, except for the one in the doctor ward...what was her name? Marj? Mari? Yeah, that was it...Mari. He wondered why she had stayed behind...she didn't have to stay. And she had helped him, even though he was kind of being a brat. So maybe she wasn't a bad person, but that still didn't mean he had to like her. Well, he didn't have to be friendly. He didn't dislike the girl necessarily, but he certainly didn't like her. Whatever, he liked the horses, and he had to feed them, so he busied himself watering and feeding all the horses in the barn before going out to the pastures. (What if sage is late to take meds so Mari come to find him when he's more comfortable and she kinda sees he's not just a brat) Edited at January 26, 2023 11:13 AM by NightClan

(We can do that!) The young woman stacked washed-up bowls and plates before putting them away. After about forty-five minutes, she pulled some oven gloves out and grabbed the tray out, along with... a lot of steam. She found herself very relieved to find that it wasn't burned and gave a slight sigh before placing it down on the counter. It'd need to cool a little bit before she could give it to anyone... but she did hope they'd enjoy it. Well, to be honest, she'd probably be able to eat it all herself if they didn't. She opened the windows in the kitchen and picked up the tray once it'd cooled down before taking it through to the ward. She grinned at the doctor and she cut a slice for him and handed him a small plate, along with a knife and fork. She normally made sure he ate first, and then she went and handed slices towards each of the other patients. She did poke her head into Sage's room - but he wasn't there. She noticed the boy never was really there for dinners, so she wasn't too bothered. She just left him with a plate and took it away the next day. However, today she decided not to waste the food. If he came back, then she'd make sure he had some, but if not then she'd have to go searching to bring him back. He couldn't really take his medication without food, so she'd have to make sure he ate before he took anything. She normally ate later on in the day... just before she was settled for bed, and she'd take whatever was left over from the patients. Not that there was ever very much, though.

Once sage had made sure all the horses had gotten their food and water, he made sure that the ones who needed supplements or medicine or extra hay had all of that, and then brought Chaos his food. He wanted to sit by the horse as he ate. The stallion came over quickly once he smelled sage (and probably the food too). Sage set the bucket down so the black horse could munch away at the grain, and he clambered up into the horses back before laying down with his head resting on the horses rump, patting his side gently. "hey bed," he murmured, sighing slightly and closing his eyes. It was relaxing to be out here....it really was. It helped him relax quite a bit, and well....he liked the horse.
