Sage felt Anya settle down next to him and smiled slightly. He had to admit that having the girl next to him did help him calm down a bit. He hadn't been upset necessarily, but the physical comfort of having another person there with him, especially one he trusted and was comfortable with, was nice. He fell asleep relitively quickly again after he settled back down, and slipped back into a deep enough sleep that even the nightmares didn't bother him very much. There were snapshots of them, but nothing that made sense and nothing that could bother him much.

Anyas sleep seemed much needed... for the only reason she woke up was when she felt a light tap on her shoulder. Her eyes fluttered open after a moment, less red and far less tired looking than the evening prior... though, she still found that she jumped a little at the light touch, even if it was just to wake her up. She was met by a pair of glowing green eyes, and the brightest smile you'd ever seen, backed by a thick layer of slightly wavy almond-brown hair. She recognised those features to be that of one of her mother's maids. Not much older than her, she didn't think. They hadn't spoken much from what she could recall. She briefly wondered what she was doing here until she saw a tray full of meds at the girl's side. She then passed Anya a cold pack of ice and gestured to her side. "Doctor said you need to swap that one to a hot water bottle in a few hours... help draw any infection out, I think," she hummed lightly and held out a small cup with two pills of aspirin that'd been drawn from willow bark, and a glass of water once Anya had positioned the ice pack on her side... the cool had definitely woken her up a little bit. She took the cups and gave an almost shy-looking smile to the girl as she necked the pills and downed the water, then wearily nudged Sage's side... he'd be needing his meds right about now, too.

Sage slept well, and he ignored the voices swirling around his head when he felt Anya shift slightly. He groaned when she poked him and flapped his hand in a pretty sad attempt to get her to stop. "I'll do it when I wake up," he huffed. "The doctor can wait. He's old enough to have learned some patience," he muttered, pulling the pillow over his head and settling down again. He was fine, really...his wounds were clean, so waiting a few hours to take any meds would hurt him. But he was tired...so he was going to sleep, and he didn't care who he annoyed by doing so. He was going to stay asleep, and he'd be stubborn about it, too.

Anya rolled her eyes at the boy when he refused to get up and gave an apologetic look to the girl. "Leave them here. He'll take them when he's ready," she huffed before waving the girl off. She then clipped Sage's ear once she'd left, a stern-looking frown across her face. "That was rude, Sage," she growled at him as she slipped out of bed. "That wasn't the doctor, so now you look like a prick. Well done," she huffed as she slipped out of the little curtain room to see Att. The boy was up and playing with his little horse-like toy, and it was quite sweet to see. His arm had been re-bandaged, and he looked good in himself. He grinned excitedly at Anya before rushing over to her and throwing his arms around her waist in a type of hug. She hummed a good morning to the boy before taking his hand and asking if he was wanting breakfast... she didn't know if any of the cooks were still around, but she could put a little something together for him... or, she could try. She was hungry anyway, and she needed to eat before figuring out how to get a hold of Luther and her parents. Edited at January 21, 2023 03:06 PM by Belle

Sage didn't particularly care what other people thought of him, and he especially didn't care if it wasn't the doctor, so he just sort of grunted in response to Anyas comment before falling back asleep. It was lighter than before, and dreams fluttered around in his head, but none that were bad enough to wake him. Eventually, though, he woke up again and picked his head up to look around blearily before huffing out a breath and rolling over onto his back, letting his head drop back down onto the pillow. He was still really, really tired, but he supposed he should get up if he wanted to sleep later. So, he sat up and stretched with a yawn, reaching over to grab he cup of meds and peer into the pile. He sighed and tossed them in his mouth, used to taking pills by then, so he didn't bother to even get water. He looked out the window then, and then had a sudden thought. How did the barns fare? All the horses could have been taken or killed, if the barns had caught fire....was Chaos alright? Att was ok, and Luther was probably at home...Anya was perfectly fine ...so what about the horse? He hit the ground running and practically flew out of the room he was in. Well, at least he was trying. He couldn't exactly sprint very fast, or for very long. But he could definitely try.

Anya and Att made their way to a very neat but... empty-looking kitchen. There was food stocked up, but the cooks were gone. She supposed they'd either all gone home or left with her parents. She didn't expect anyone to be here still. It was surprising that the few maids were there, and that the doctor was too. Still, the girl grabbed a pan and lit the stove before turning to Att. "Pancakes?" She asked with a cocked head. The child grinned and nodded his head excitedly. "Go grab some eggs then," she hummed lightly. In truth, Anya wasn't very good and any kind of cooking... but she could make more simple things, like pancakes and eggs. Well, she could make anything that had eggs in it... because it was easy. The boy grabbed a small pack of eggs, and Anya lifted him up onto the counter to help her crack the eggs and whisk everything up before pouring it into the pan. They made one and tried it together before making a good few more and stacking them up on the plate... the two wouldn't eat them between themselves, so they could share them about the ward... actually, it probably wouldn't be a good idea to give anything Anya made to already sick people, but if they wanted some they could have some. "Give the weird one to Sage," she heard the child cackle from the counter. She cocked her head and raised a brow at him, though a small chuckle escaped her. "Don't be like that, he loves you," she hummed lightly before picking a large plate stacked with pancakes then picking Att up with her other hand and perched him on her hip. "We can eat outside then I have work to get done, alright?" She informed the boy lightly as they made their way out and to a bench on the lawn.

Sage sort of just pushed his way through Att the rubble until he got out to the stables. He'd found a way there that didn't put him past too many guards, since the doctor had told him not to do too much, which probably meant stay in the ward. Or, at least close to the ward. But, he wanted to know what had happened to all the horses, so that's what he was going to do. He was sore, but now that pain meds had taken their hold, the dull pain that rolled around his body didn't bother him too much. It was a bit uncomfortable, that's all. Either way, by the time he reached the lawn, he doubled over panting. Well, this could prove to be more of a challenge than he originally thought. He looked up in the direction the barns would be in, and then straightened since bending over hurt his back. He put his hands on his hips and huffed out a breath, moving on again. He would probably be worn out completely before he got to the barns, but he could deal with that later. And in all honesty, he really really hoped the horses were all still there. At least Chaos, and he'd grown rather fond of Anyas horse. No doubt Luther's mare would be with him, but she was a sweet horse too. He slid down a hill on his butt and then scrambled to his feet again, staggering determinedly towards the stables.

Anya and Att plonked down on the little table, and Anya set out a plate she'd held underneath the plate full of pancakes. She gave him one and let him eat it first before she tried one. In truth, it almost made her gag. They'd put way too much sugar in there... and it hadn't been mixed enough, considering there were random lumps of flower in the baked pancakes. Though, the mix was fine when they'd tried it before. She covered her mouth and shook her head before furrowing her brows at the child. "How are you eating that?" She squeaked and took the plate off him. The boy complained and pouted at her and tried to grab it back. "It's good," he complained and flopped his little head down on the table. Anya furrowed her brows, not quite sure what to do to perk the boy up again before she saw a couple of small birds hopping along the grass. She grabbed one of the frankly awful pancakes before ripping it in her hands and passing it to the child. "Go sit on the lawn... if you wait long enough then the birds might come and sit on your hands," she told him gently. He must have added some extra sugar and flower when she wasn't looking, but she didn't think it mattered all too much... he'd be happy trying to coax the birds over.

Sage wandered for about another ten minutes or so before he came across the barns. They were still intact, though the doors were still locked. He examined the lock for a moment, and was about to turn away when he heard a noise inside. We're there horses in there? No one had been here in a while...did they have food and water? The thought have him enough energy to pick the lock with the kitchen knife he still held. He got inside in ten minutes, maybe a little more. There were indeed horses in there, and they did not have food or water, just as he'd suspected. Well, he'd fix that soon enough...except he couldn't do it all himself. He could drag the hose around and give them water, but he'd need help with food. He could get Anya and Att to help...they both liked the horses, he supposed. So, he went through the barn, and watered all the stalls before dragging a bucket out to the few pastures behind it. As soon as the water hit the water pot in Chaos' pen, the stallion came trotting around the corner. A delighted grin crossed Sage's face, and he leaned against the horse as he drank to catch his breath. He was covered in dust and sweat by then, and was on his way back when he noticed one of the horses was limping. He wandered over and washed off the wound on the leg and then went to go find Anya and Att. He had blood on him now, but he could change clothes later. They were a mess anyway. He saw them from a distance and plopped down next to Anya, catching his breath once he sat down.

Anya watched the child as he plopped down on the grass, a light smile on her face as a couple of the small birds crept towards him, then he giggled and scared them off again. This happened a couple of times before the child figured out he needed to stay quiet when the birds got closer, and then one or two of them jumped onto his hand and started pecking at the remaining pieces of pancakes. It was clear that the child was trying his hardest not to let out a giggle by the way his shoulders were jerking, as though he was trying to contain himself. She glanced towards Sage with a small smile when he dropped down next to her until she saw that he was covered with sweat, blood and dust. "What've you been doing?" She asked, knowing full well that he was going to get himself into trouble no matter what was going on, even if he wasn't well the way it was.
