Sage slept deeply...deeper than he'd wanted to, really. He wasn't aware of anything...what if someone came by, or an animal tried to take their food? He wouldn't be able to wake up to stop it all. Well, if he even could. He needed the rest, he knew that, but he wanted to get back just as much as Anya did. He didn't want to be the reason it was delayed another day. He just hoped there was still something there they could return to. Either way, it was a much deeper sleep than he was comfortable with, especially since his health was...well, not even there. He could barely manage to breathe normally, and he felt shaky even after rest. He woke up briefly, and saw the sun coming up, but fell back into a deep sleep, even though he knew he shouldn't. But they were close ...he could sleep a while longer, right?

Anya managed to keep herself fairly still for the rest of the night, but woke up pretty early... not before Sage, but earlier than she'd thought she would. She kind of rolled over, only to be painfully reminded by the swollen bruise on her side and jerked up, a small squeak of air escaping her. The sky was still very orange... so it couldn't be that late. She just wanted to go home... and that feeling like she'd done this to both herself and Sage just seemed overwhelming. She could still hear his breathing rasping... and the guilt that swelled up in her chest felt like it was chocking her. The girl just covered her eyes and forced herself to lay back down with a bit of a sigh, brows furrowed as she tried to get herself back to sleep, even if it was just for a little bit.

The next time Sage woke, the sun was already high in the sky and he struggled to sit up, wincing as his wrist bent to push his torso up. Anya was laying down, though he couldn't tell if she was asleep or not, though he supposed either way warranted him stifling the squeak of pain. He yawned and stretched, though quickly stopped stretching when his entire body seemed to scream at him to stop moving. Man, was he glad they were almost back to the castle...he wasn't sure he had the energy to get back as it was, and it was only a few miles. He looked over at the girl and sighed, running his hand over his face and slapping his cheeks in an attempt to wake himself up.

Anya found herself almost stuck in a state of sleep... she knew she needed to get up, to go head me, but she just didn't have the energy... she felt like she should... she'd been asleep for hours, but she still felt like she had nothing left in her... she'd never felt like that before. It was scary, and she didn't like it. She shifted slightly in her sleep, brows furrowed as she felt the bruising on her side hit the floor. Even in her sleep she could feel that. It wasn't a nice feeling... not at all. She needed to wake up, and she knew that, but she just... couldn't.

When the girl didn't move, Sage figured she was still asleep. Though, she definitely didn't look comfortable. He sighed and reached for the fabric she'd used as a blanket, which had been tossed to the side eventually. He now saw it was a skirt, but that was kind of irrelevant he supposed. He bunched it up and gently slipped it underneath the girl as best he could, hoping it would make her more comfortable. They could rest a while longer...they did need it, and it wouldn't take them long to get to the castle. But they needed to be strong enough so that if the castle wasn't there, they could figure out what to do next. He yawned and poked his head out of the little thing they were in, and when he saw no one, he slipped back in and collapsed next to the girl with a huff of air. He closed his eyes then...he could rest a bit longer, since the girl was still asleep.

The girl kind of groaned at the bit of movement, and gave a soft sigh as she was kind of was pulled out of her state of sleep. It was so strange... she couldn't wake herself up when she'd wanted to, but the smallest of movements had managed to pull her out of that state. Still, she didn't open her eyes, rather she just kind of rested her head on the make shift skirt-blanket-pillow and let herself ease awake again... she couldn't feel Sage next to her so she kind of felt a shot of panic run through her... though, she then felt him flop back down at her side. Her eyes flickered half way open before gently moving herself back towards the boy and wrapped and arm around his side absentmindedly. Well, not really absentmindedly, she knew she was doing it, but she kind of just wanted to make sure it was actually him... that she wasn't just dreaming.

Sage glanced over in the girls direction when he felt her arm slide around him, and he murmured a quiet good morning, almost not willing to break the silence. It was peaceful for once, and surprisingly it was rather comfortable. It wasn't super cold, now that they'd heated the small space up, and the small space was a cozy sort of small space. He did feel better after a bit more rest, but he was still just... exhausted. He didn't have the energy to get up, and while he probably could physically, he just wanted to sleep. He wanted to get back to the castle too, but he didn't want to be disappointed when he got there. What if it was gone? Or her family was dead? What about Luther and Att? What if they'd been hurt or killed? He wasn't sure he could handle that. If Att died, it just meant he'd brought him to the castle to get killed while he could more visibly feel the terror and the pain. He had to force the thoughts aside as his stomach churned. He figured Anya would want them to eat before they left ..wake up slow, have a good breakfast, and then get moving. But now he wasn't very hungry. He should eat, he knew that, but...ew. no. He might just throw it all up.

The girl gave a soft hum of a hello and forced herself to open her eyes again, though she didn't budge from her spot next to him. She'd only gotten into a position where she wasn't hurting, and the small space they were in was warm... but she knew it'd be freezing by the time they got out. She wanted to force herself up and go home... but she couldn't help the complete and utter feeling of dread that washed over her at the thought. She'd never forgive herself if something happened to Att... or Luther for that matter. Her parents, too, and the doctor. They were all her family. They'd all worked so hard with her... if they'd died because she simply listen to Sage, she'd only be able to hate herself. And really, she was scared of herself if it came to that. She didn't trust that she wouldn't completely break herself. Eventually, the girl managed to force words out, but they weren't really sensible, and she didn't think she meant them. "I don't want to go back," she whispered, her voice tired and sore. She didn't mean that... she wanted to go back, but right now, as far as she knew, everyone was safe... alive. She didn't want to go back only to find they weren't there any more.

Sage frowned slightly and then sighed, rolling over to face the girl. A few grunts and winces later, he was resting on his other side, Anyas arms still around his side. "You do. You just don't know what you might find there," he hummed. Then he patted the girls hand reassuringly. "Don't worry so much...they had things under control when we...left. what makes you think anything bad has happened?" Then he cocked his head slightly. "Besides...isn't knowing better than not knowing if they're alright or not?" He knew that's how he thought....he'd rather know for certain how everyone died and why, than not know what happened or if they were alive or not. "Anya, you need to go home. You need a doctor and proper rest. You're my sister now which means I'm going to care for you, and that means getting you back to the castle even if I have to crawl and drag you along with my teeth," he snorted, trying to get a joke in there to cheer the girl up a bit. But of course, he meant it....if that was the only way to get her home and safe, then that's what he would do. She knew that, right? She knew he'd do anything to protect her? He certainly hoped so.

(Would it be awful for me to kill Luther off? Could open up another little plot line lol)
Anya sighed and shook her head before closing her eyes again. His words were reassuring to a point... but she still had that awful sense of dread about the whole thing. "I don't know," she murmured, "If something happened... it'd be my fault," she whispered softly before tucking her head into his shoulder. The sun was starting to poke through the holes in the little shelter and into her eyes and Sage for the time being was the only thing blocking it. "I... suppose that's right," the girl whispered in response to him saying knowing would be better. She did think that was right... but if something happened, then it would be her fualt. She wouldn't forgive herself for that. She couldn't. Really, the only appealing thing about going back right then was the doctor... medication and rest was something she definately needed by then. She did manage the tiniest chuckle at his little joke before shaking her head... it was an amusing thought to say the least, but she couldn't manage much more to show her musement for him.
