Sage chuckled and sighed with a nod, then he perked back up. "The good news is, there's a common road that does mostly back to your castle, and we had to come here to get to it," he chirped. "It's not far, so we can stay somewhat by a village for food and water if we need it. But it's not main enough for there to be many people on it...which is good for us. Enough people go down it so we won't be suspicious to anyone," he informed the girl, tapping the road on the map. "I think we did pretty darn good," he hummed.

Anya bit the inside of her lip slightly and gave a kind of nod. That was good... it meant they weren't completely lost. It looked like there was another village towards the end of the map, though. It was roughly twenty-six miles away, so it could take roughly eight or nine hours if they walked quickly. They might have to stop halfway through, depending on how they felt. Perhaps they could catch a ride to the next village along, that way they could walk four hours less and be back before it got dark. "I suppose it's not too bad... good thing we have a map though, huh?" she asked with a small smile. "Can we try and get a ride halfway there? It'll give us a bit more of a boost."

Sage chuckled and nodded, then hummed in thought before nodding again. "Catching a ride might be a good idea," he hummed. "Well just have to be careful not to give ourselves away. I don't think people are out looking for us but you never know." He really didn't want to go back there, so staying as low key as possible would be good. A ride would help them, though....a lot. Especially since he couldn't walk for that long without stopping.

Anya smiled lightly as she looked around... she could see an old horse pulling along an even older-looking hay cart. The man had to be a little bit older than she and Sage, but he just seemed ever so grumpy. She looked back to Sage with a slightly cocked head. "What about him... we can ask where he's going. He's going in the right direction, and there's not another turning for about five miles. Even then, that was enough. Though, she assumed they'd have to be doing some persuading to get on. the waggon, though.

Sage thought for a moment and then nodded. "You can do the talking," he muttered. "You're better with people. And persuading people to do stuff." Really, it was a good idea...catching a ride would be nice, and he knew an old farmer was more likely to say yes without asking questions than anyone else. Well, probably. You could never be sure, of course, but still...the old man looked like he wasn't the brightest person in the world. But, it was still a good idea to have Anya talk to the man rather than him. She looked better than he did anyway. It would be less...odd.

Anya smiled brightly and nodded her head, knowing that she was, in fact, better with people. It was one of the few things she was better at than Sage was. She took a slight step forwards and flashed a sweet-looking smile to the man before giving a slight wave. He slowed down a little, and Anya did some pleading before grabbing Sage's hand and explaining they were passing through. He eventually groaned and gave a slight smile before cocking his head to the back of the trailer, gesturing so that they could get in. Though he didn't wait long enough for either of them to hop on, so Anya pretty much ran and hopped on as the man started to move, and pulled Sage on when he went into a trot again.

Sage hivered behind Anya as she talked to the man. He hadn't really expecting Anya to be able to convince the man to let them on, but somehow she managed it. Admittedly, he had gotten distracted watching a grasshopper hop about while the girl talked, and let out a squeak when she yanked him forward and lept onto the cart next to the girl, already panting from the brief effort of running and jumping.

Anya chuckled softly when the boy landed on the cart next to her, already seemingly out of breath. "I knew you were unfit, but I didn't think it was that bad," she teased lightly as she poked his side. She flopped back against the hay with a small smile resting on her face as she watched the clouds float past. "You know, your people skills need to get better... for whatever reason, they're bad enough to get yourself beaten up all the time," she noted with a light laugh.

Sage made a face at the girl in response to her teasing, though he didn't really have the breath to talk back to her. "Oh, shush," he huffed after a moment, whacking at her hand almost as if shooing her away. "I got distracted and had to jump within an inch of my life," he complained, though his voice had a noticeably amused tone to it. He snorted in response to the girl's next comment, and rolled his eyes. "My people skills are fine," he huffed."people just don't appreciate the truth. For instance, when I told your mother her battle plan was going to get everyone killed, she was less than pleased," he hummed. He hadn't really expected the woman to like him, but a simple thanks would have been nice. Though, he supposed she still just saw him as the tavern boy. But, he didn't know why she'd helped him...she could have just ran and left him in the hallway....he blinked and shoved his confused thoughts away, since he kind of was having a conversation with Anya, and they needed to be aware of where they were going.

Anya grinned as the boy batted her hand away again, giving him a chuckle before poking his side again to be annoying. "No, no, Sage," she hummed, "you need to choose who you give the truth to... like, my mother isn't one of those people. You can be truthful without upsetting people too, you know," she chuckled, softly. "And what on earth distracted you? The grass?" She asked with another childish giggle. "You're such a child, you know that? Keep your head about you," the girl hummed lightly. Edited at January 17, 2023 04:24 PM by Belle
