Anya got comfortable... well, as comfortable as she could on the barn floor. Her sides and hips hurt, along with her knees and elbows... and she was finding that her whole skeleton was aching. She wasn't relaxed, but it did feel nice to lie down despite the pain. It took a little while, but she managed to get herself to sleep. It was full of frankly unwanted dreams, and she did flinch every now and then... but it was still sleep, and it was definitely needed. She wanted them to get moving as soon as they could... in a couple of hours maybe. They needed to get Sage's wrists covered up too... if he lost them then the boy would be in a fair bit of trouble. She'd kind of hugged onto the boy's leg once she got into a slightly deeper sleep, though... which meant she was finally relaxing now.

Sage settled to resting against the wall with his shoulders, just letting his mind be quiet for a while before he started thinking about what they could do to get back to the castle. He was broken from his thoughts when he felt Anya hold onto his leg, and he smiled softly at the girl, watching her for a bit. She looked peaceful, which was nice to see...when she was awake, she was understandably worried. It was definitely good that she was getting rest. He let his mind wander again after a while, kind of sinking down into the girl so he was kind of leaning against her. He just felt better like that...a bit less vulnerable, even though the girl was asleep.

It took a little while before the girl finally woke herself up again... it had been about midday when they'd managed to get out, and it'd gotten dark by then. They still needed food and water... but she didn't want to leave the few walls that they had while it was dark. They might not find it again... and for the time being, it was safe. She could go and get food and a drink for them both when it got light again... they'd eaten, so they should be alright. She was more worried about Sage when it came to the food than anything. He needed it to get better... which wouldn't happen unless he ate. She could maybe find her way into the village and steal something or other. Or maybe they could go into the next village over... it'd be safer there. There'd most likely be people searching for the two of them here. It took a moment or so, but she soon clocked Sage leaning against her... in truth, that'd probably aided her sleep. She shifted again so that she'd kind of let her arm flop over his waist before looking up a little to face him. "I'm sorry," the girl whispered with a tired breath. "I should have listened to you... now look at the state of us," she huffed quietly before shaking her head.

Sage looked over at Anya when she spoke up and cocked his head. "What do you mean?" Maybe his brain was just really dead, because he felt like he should know what the girl was talking about. What hadn't she listened about? She'd just slept like he'd told her to, and even back in the castle shed listened and calmed down when he asked. So he really wasn't sure what she was all apologizing for. Though, if it made her feel better, he was fine with it. Edited at January 13, 2023 03:23 PM by NightClan

The girl gave a slight chuckle to the boy... it was tired and forced, but a chuckle nonetheless. "In the castle... when you said something was up. I can't say I believed you enough to do anything about it," she told him quietly. It'd happened almost a week ago, now... and yet she still hadn't apologised. She didn't know what'd happened to Att or Luther... but all she wanted was to go back to sleep and wake up back in the castle... next to Luther, and with Att running around with some toy he'd found at stupid o'clock in the morning. It sounded annoying... but it was the type of memory she never wanted to forget. When everyone was just so... happy. She needed to be back there.

Ok, now Sage understood what the girl was apologizing for. Really, he'd almost forgotten he'd said anything at all to her about the issue. He shrugged slightly and patted the girls leg tiredly. "What you said was right, tough, Anya ...you couldn't just accuse them because I felt weird," he murmured before yawning and curling up into the girl slightly with a shiver. It was a bit chilly out, and he was wearing a thin tunic. And they both knew he was too skinny to have any natural insulation. Shivering seemed like a lot of work though, and quiet honestly, it hurt, so he just hoped Anya would kinda just ...stay there. She was warm. And he was really, really tired again...he wanted to sleep, but he also couldn't ask the girl to stay up while he slept all night either.

Anya gave a doubtful hum to the boy... she should have known by now that when Sage had a feeling it normally meant something. Like every other time, he was right, and she admittedly felt stupid for ignoring him. She gave a slight frown when the boy curled in, but gently patted his back before sitting up a little bit and opening her arms for him. "Come on," she huffed after a moment before gesturing for him to shuffle in. She didn't mind... and the boy needed to get warm somehow. She might have to go find him another shirt, too... something a bit warmer, so that he wasn't constantly freezing. He looked tired... and having him shivering all the time wouldn't help. "How do your wrists feel? They don't look amazing," she asked him quietly as she rested her head back against the wall.

Sage was, admittedly, a bit surprised when the girl opened her arms, though he didn't wait very long to let himself be surprised before crawling over a bit and falling into the girl, practically burying himself into her. She was really warm. "You're cozy," he hummed tiredly...maybe his brain had given up on making sense, because he definitely wouldn't normally tell the girl that she was cozy. But, well, she was. He shrugged when she mentioned his wrists and sighed. "They hurt, but I did it to myself so really I can't complain," he hummed. In all honesty, they hurt like hell. It felt like his arms and hands were on fire, and the wrists were the main source of pain and heat. But he didn't want to worry the girl more, so he didn't say it out loud. "They feel better with the shackles off of them."

Anya gave a small chuckle when he buried himself into her. She had to admit, she was a little surprised when he said she was cozy. She didn't think he'd ever said that, and she was, understandably, very amused by it. "Cozy," she repeated with a gentle hum of a chuckle. "Never been called cozy before," she told him as she closed her arms around his back. "But you're cold," the girl told him gently as her hand trailed up his back. She supposed that was why she felt warm to him... he was a lot colder than she was. She nodded lightly before huffing out a breath. "I don't understand why you'd do that to yourself if it was hurting," she noted to the boy before giving him a slightly amused chuckle. "It was a bit stupid, don't you think?"

Sage chuckled and shrugged. "Well I guess I'll have to find more common compliments for you then," he hummed in a sort of joking manner. Then he chuckled slightly and shrugged. "Maybe. But I couldn't just stand there and let them beat me up without at least kicking them in the groin once," he whined. "Breaking their noses was also enjoyable," he noted. He tensed up a bit when she ran her hand up and down his back, out of habit, but it didn't hurt, so he soon relaxed again. He didn't want the girl to see the whip marks and get more upset, he just needed her to be ...well as calm as she could be, since they still had figure out...a lot. And he was tired, so he didn't think he'd be able to do very much.
