Anya's head pretty much went blank after that... she could hear Sage yelling, but it was pretty much blurred out. She saw a slight movement from the men towards Sage, most likely to tell him off for his outburst. She'd just closed her eyes again at that point... she didn't want to see anything that'd hurt the boy, she already felt bad enough for... well, all of this. She could have probably stopped all of this if she'd just... listened to him. Her lungs still felt weak, like they were empty... but her breathing was normal. Or, as normal as it could be. A couple of hours passed, and the girl had gotten herself to sleep again... well, in a strange state of half asleep and half awake. It was hard to sleep standing up, that was for sure. It must have been about a day before she saw anyone other than Sage again... well, other than the men that stood at the door to consistently taunt the both of them. The next time she'd seen anyone, was when they'd been brought some food... it wasn't much, but it wasn't just a slice of bread. They were both watched with a gun to their heads until they'd been tied back up again... she'd noticed Sage had put up much more of a fight than she had to be tied back up again. She wondered if she should be that determined to get out again... she just assumed they'd either be found or set free. Or killed, but none of this would bother them once they were dead.

Sage could tell the girl wasn't really all that aware of what was all going on....she didn't look very good, and she didn't respond to anything. She barely even ate the food they gave her. And she had a decent meal...Sage was half surprised they gave him the same amount of food as Anya. Originally, he was just going to refuse to eat, but he didn't know how long they'd be here, and he didn't trust them to be found, if anyone of power was still in charge of the castle. And...well...if he started with saying no and then changed his mind, it would seem like they'd gotten to him and he was obeying them....which he wasn't willing to do. So, he ate quickly and tried to make a move, but they had expected that. They'd only untied one of his hands either way, so he couldn't do much, and unfortunately, the untied arm wasn't the one that could get to the knife. Oh well....better to save that for when it was needed anyway. By the time they got him back in chains, his head was pounding and his vision swirling. They left, then, and all he could hear was his wheezing breaths that were really just his body trying to get air as a last resort. He could see blood dripping onto the concrete floor, slowly but surely, for...quite some time. It went on like that for a while...he wasn't really sure how long, but it was a couple meals, so he could assume a few days had gone by. Eventually, though, his legs decided to buckle again, and he yelped at the sudden pain in his wrists as he sort of hung from the chains. He could tell a few men came in at the sudden noise, and talked for a moment, but their voices only swirled in his head. He didn't even know what they were saying, until they loosened the chains so he could sort of collapse into the concrete floor. They loosened Anya, too, slightly...maybe because they needed them alive and they couldn't stand forever. Or maybe because they were planning on selling them off for some reason...whatever the case, they seemed to need them alive, or he'd be killed by now. He didn't really have the energy to think about that though, and let his mind just go out into the him that was sounding in his ears.

In the days after they'd been loosened to the ground, the girl had gotten her wits about her. She was more aware of everything that was going on, for sure, and she was getting herself more and more worried about Sage. He wasn't in as good of a shape as she was, and she couldn't get to him... couldn't look after him the way she wanted to. She'd tried and failed. She'd gotten the feeling that the men had noticed this too... she was a little more lively now, and it didn't seem like the type of thing they particularly liked. They'd continued to taunt her, mercilessly... though they seemed to have laid off Sage a little more. She was thankful for that... she was. After a couple of days, she'd had her hands tried together again before being dragged out... she'd put up more of a fight this time... only, she wasn't exactly huge, and these guys were too much for her to handle if she had managed to get loose. It was bright outside, and it almost hurt her eyes... though, she could see a key chain attached to one of the men... it was the first guy that'd started the taunting. She'd started to form a bit of a plan in her head by that point. She was brought out to a small room where a refined man was sitting at a table. She watched a brief conversation between him and one of the men that'd taken her and Sage, though the man didn't take his greedy eyes off her for one moment. It sent an unpleasant chill down her spine, but she was soon taken back to their cell. Her eyes pretty much stayed on the keys as she was taken back in... and once he went to clip the cuffs back onto her wrist she decided to give her plan a bit of a go... if it didn't work, then the chances were that it wouldn't end very well for her. As the man took a step back she reached forwards to take a gentle hold of his shirt, light enough so that he didn't think she was going to try and hurt him. "Hang on," the girl hummed in the most sultry manner she could manage for the man... which was, admittedly, not very much. The man had picked up on the tone, though, and his face almost lit up as he turned back towards her, one brow slightly raised. In truth, what she was about to do made a not tie in her stomach... and she wasn't sure if she'd quite be able to respect herself for it. Still, she tugged the man in a little and wrapped an arm around his side... granted, the chains were pulling at her now, but it seemed to be working, considering the look on the man's face. "Look I'm gonna make this easy, why don't you go and find an empty room for the two of us, hmm?" God, that knot was getting worse. She'd have to act fast, or this wasn't going to work. As she'd expected, the man had leaned in a little more, allowing her to reach for the keys and carefully unhooked them from the chain while the man murmured some sort of agreement, along with some type of crude comment before turning out of the room. She waited for a moment before rushing to unlock her wrists from the cuffs and practically sprinting towards Sage. "You okay?" she asked the boy as she went to unlock his wrists... she spotted a door fairly close to their cell when she was taken out, leading right along a small path. If they were fast they could make it out. As far as she was aware, there was only one man in the building as of then, and that was the man that was meant to be guarding them. "Think you can run at all? I think we can get out of here... but we're gonna need to be quick," she explained in a rather hurried tone.

The next few days...at least, as far as he could guess....went slowly for Sage. He pretty much lay there, forcing himself to eat when they came in just to get them to shut up and leave again...they were really loud, and his head was spinning. He let them drag him around a bit, too ..he fought, of course, but it was just habit at this point, and he wasn't really putting much heart or effort into it anymore. The men noticed, probably, but he just didn't care. He'd keep fighting, of course he would, but that didn't really matter. He heard Anyas voice, but couldn't really tell what was being said...he'd hadn't understood much the past while. He sort of flinched away when the girl came running up to him, baring his teeth in a sort of snael before recognizing her and settling down a bit. He'd certainly met those daughters they'd talked about...though he didn't think they'd taken Anya out anywhere. Of course, if they did, he couldn't do anything about it. He cocked his head at the girl, wheezing as he tried to comprehend what she'd said before nodding. He wasn't really sure, but Anya would help, and they didn't have much of a choice either way. He winced and let out a hiss of pain as the cold air hit the skin where his wrists had been rubbed loose. Maybe fighting so much wasn't a great idea...bone was even showing through the sides, and it wasn't particularly pleasant. But he supposed he'd done that to himself. "Let's go," he managed to choke out, struggling to get himself up to his feet. He wasn't sure why he was having so much trouble breathing, but maybe the fresh air would help, if they could get out of here.

The girl couldn't help but pity the boy... Anya was alright for the most part. There'd been one or two dealings with the men that'd been described to her, in the first day or two. Normally after she'd yelled to have Sage left alone... tried anything she could in that position, like he would have done to look after her... she didn't have the time nor energy to fight any of it, not mentally. In truth, she couldn't remember any of it. The chances were that she'd just blacked out, but she could definitely remember the physical pain of it al. It wasn't that she was fine with any of it... but it was more important to get out as of then. Sage though... he was in much worse shape, both physically and mentally, she assumed. He'd probably remembered every second of it, and she just wanted to get him safe, where nothing else would happen to him. "Alright," she whispered softly, and carefully helped him up, careful not to hurt him at all. "Deep breaths, Sage," she told him quietly before walking him to the door and looking through the small window. Once she was sure the coast was clear, she opened the door for them and pretty much dragged Sage as quick as she could towards the door that lead outside. They got out without and issue, into the path that'd turn into a village and a forest... she went for the forest, assuming it'd be the easiest place to hide, because they couldn't run... not in this condition, neither of them could. She could hear yelling already, cursed from the man that she'd somehow managed to fool, then the sound of about five other men joining him. By then though, they were pretty deep into the woods, so she assumed they'd be alright... at least for an hour or so. They'd go through the village first, she assumed. It wasn't her village, though... in fact, she didn't recognise it at all. She sat Sage down on an old stone, eyes filled with worry. "Talk to me, Sage," she told him... she didn't care what it was about... she just wanted him talking. To keep him with her... if he passed out, she'd never be able to move him... and she wouldn't leave him either.

Sage let the girl tow him along through the trees, away from the building they'd been held in. He didn't really know where they were going, or how to even get back to the castle, but he did trust the girl to bring him somewhere safe. When she sat him down, he was really grateful, since he wasn't sure he could keep on going. He sort of doubled over, lungs almost spasming as he tried to catch his breath. He patted the girls leg in a sort of attempt to console her, but talking wasn't something he could really do right about then. He knew she was probably worried, but he was just struggling to breathe. No not breathe, just draw in any sort of oxygen possible. And, admittedly, it wasn't working. Edited at January 12, 2023 05:36 PM by NightClan

Anya looked at Sage the way a deer would as it heard danger... she could hear the men still, which probably didn't make matters any better. They needed to keep on moving... find some form of shelter to hide out in. But it looked like Sage was struggling to sit up... and walking was near out of the question. She wanted to help him the way he'd helped her. To look after him, even if it was just a little. "Sage," she murmured gently as she placed a hand on his shoulder. He could lean on it if he needed, just focus on his breathing. "We need to keep on going, or they're going to find us again," she whispered softly, but through the sound of his rasping breaths, it didn't seem like he'd be able to hear her. She bit her lip as she looked around. There wasn't anywhere sheltered they'd be able to get to... they'd have to sort out his breathing before they went anywhere.

Sage looked over at the girl when he heard her voice, though it was sort of an apologetic glance...he couldn't really understand what she was saying, but he could make a pretty good guess. The could hear men's voices muddling in the background...they were going to catch up with them, and they really did need to get going. But he couldn't do much more than gasp for air. After a few more rasps he held his hand out for the girl to help him up. He'd hold on for as long as he could, in hopes that they could find some sort of shelter or hiding place. There was a village nearby, and some farms they might be able to reach and seek refuge at for a while. They had to find out where they were, anyway. But he'd have to rely on the girl...he couldn't see straight, let alone figure out any sort of plan to escape and get back home. Well, Anyas home, anyway. He didn't really have one.

Anya gave a gentle shake of the head when the boy gave her his type of apologetic look... he didn't need to be sorry. She did feel awful for him, though... she could see the bone of his wrists, and she was terrified something was going to get it and get infected... she didn't need to think about that, though. She just needed to get the both of them safe. She wasn't as smart or as quick as Sage was, so the quicker they got moving the better. She gently tugged him up so that he had an arm resting over the her shoulders, and she held him as close as she could to keep him up. She got them walking again, well, she was, Sage was pretty much being dragged along. Soon enough, the girl found themselves at small cabin... well, it was half built, and uninhabited, so it'd be alright for a little while... sage wanted to get Sage breathing properly before anything else.

Sage let Anya drag him along for a while. He tried to walk and help the girl out, but admittedly, it didn't do very much. He wasn't sure how long they staggered along for, either ..he was really just focusing on getting at sort of air into his lungs and staying conscious. He had a feeling if he passed out the girl wouldn't leave him, which would get her taken back to the room and those nasty men, and he couldn't let that happen. He couldn't do much, but he'd do the small amount that he could do. He felt the girl stop, and looked around as best he could through his swirling vision. There was a dark blob of brownish colored... something. Had she found a house or barn or something to stop at? It definitely wasn't somewhere the men would check, if it was ...it wasn't finished, from what he could tell, and they wouldn't think the future queen would settle for a barn. They'd assume she went towards her home, wherever that would be. But the thoughts were muddled, and black spots danced in front of his eyes, so he let his head fall back to rest of Anyas shoulder, breath hitching slightly as his lungs protested still being used. He hoped she had found somewhere to stop, because if he kept going he wasn't sure his lungs would hold up.
