Luther gave a slight nod to Sage and watched him leave before wandering to poke his head out the door himself, calling one of the guards over and telling him to ward the queen that this might not be as innocent as it seemed. He then went to sit down on the chair again... unable to let himself sleep, he just kept his eyes on the door. If anyone came in, if anyone tried to hurt the child that'd become his son... they weren't going to last long. He did briefly think about Anya... and of course, he hoped she wasn't stressing herself out about this too much. He almost wished Sage had come to him first. Anya would probably be worrying about him and Att now. What she didn't know couldn't hurt her. Whatever, you couldn't fix that now. He just hoped she managed to get herself to sleep... she'd be fine in that case.

Sage lay down on his bed with a sigh, staring at the ceiling. The doctor came in by then, and they talked in hushed whispers for a while before the doctor went back to his office, probably to get some sleep. The old man could fall asleep anywhere, in any situation, he really could. Sage wished he could sleep like that...though of course he was grateful he could wake up when he needed to...he certainly wouldn't have lived this long if he slept deeply. But he himself was too wound up to sleep, so drawing Att worked pretty well. Eventually, he finished the drawing and set it to the side before deciding to find some paint and paint the boy, really only because he was bored and thought it would look cool. He had a huge white curtain surrounding his bed, so why not use it as a canvas? It was almost calling out to him to paint on it.

Anya sat in her room, leg bobbing up and down... she was exhausted, she was, and the fact that Sage was worried the other kingdom didn't want to sign a peace treaty... it scared her. If he was right, and this man was tied to his father... then this wasn't going to end well. She'd bitten down on her cheeks again without even realising it. At some point, it had become a type of coping mechanism. Not a good one, because there was scarring on the inside of her cheeks, and well, it hurt. It really, hurt. She sat there for about another hour until it was about four in the morning... it was still dark out. Though, she could hear people marching up and down the halls... then the ear-ringing bang that rattled through the halls, one that could only be known as a gunshot... she'd gotten all too used to that over the years. Her head whipped around, and she ran to lock the door before pressing her back to the door, her heart already leaping... it had come out of nowhere. No shouting, no screaming... just a shot. And god, it was... scary. She could only just see people filing out of the village, too... hell, was Sage right? Was this to do with the rebellion? She didn't have a clue. Whatever it was, it wasn't good.

Sage didn't take very long to find paint...it was amazing what the old castle had in odd corners and passageways. He'd painted quite a bit, almost covering one end of the sheet, when he heard the gunshot and he jumped about three feet in the air, grabbing the kitchen knife from under his pillow and sprinting to Anyas room. He saw the doctor working in his office, wide awake after hearing a gun shot. He rapped on Anyas door and breathlessly let the girl know it was him, glancing down the hallway to check for people. Luckily, her room was away from the gates, since people were streaming into the castle and it was chaos on the other areas. But he still wanted someone with her, and Luther would keep Att safe. The king and Queen had their guards, so Anya was the only one without protection, so he was going to stay with her.

Anya had to cover her mouth as she heard another few shots... they had to be a couple of corridors away from her. Close. People were flooding through the gates, and the village almost seemed to be on fire... her heart was going so fast it hurt. As far as she could tell, the villagers hadn't gotten into the actual castle... they were trying, though. Things seemed to have gotten loud so fast. Her head started to spin when she heard banging on the door... was someone trying to get in? She found herself wondering if Att and Luther were alright... Luther would keep the boy safe, and she knew that, but she wanted to be with them... if anything happened to them, she wanted to be there, to go through whatever this was with what'd come to be her family. When Sage assured her it was him, she quickly jumped up and opened the door for him, dragged him in then shut the door before locking it in a second or so. She turned to him with worried eyes and quickly ran her hands down his shoulders and arms, before kind of lightly holding onto his wrist after making sure he hadn't got himself hurt at all. "You're okay?" She asked him quietly, "Did you see Att or Luther?" She asked him again, her voice getting faster. She was definitely worried... and if definitely showed.

Sage squeaked slightly when Anya dragged him in, and was admittedly slightly touched when she made sure he wasn't hurt before asking her questions. He nodded in response and squeezed the girls hand reassuringly. "Luther stayed in the nursery to watch Att and make sure he stays safe. I'm sticking with you," he informed the girl, hoping the news would comfort her. "And yes, I'm ok," he assured her gently. Then he wrinkled his nose slightly. "I should find a better weapon than a kitchen knife though," he muttered to himself before shrugging and walking over to peek out the window. There was plenty of fighting, though most of it was at the gates and inside the castle. Those who had gotten in the castle were in, so the guards had two jobs...keep more from coming in and get rid of those who had already gotten in.

Anya gave a soft sigh of relief when he said Luther was with the child... god, she'd never forgive herself if anything happened to him. She was visibly in panic mode... she should be used to this. It was the kind of thing that happened quite a bit over the last few years, but every time, she just felt so... useless. Well, she was useless, but she could never quite accept that. More, she didn't want to. "Good," she noted when he said he was ok. She'd have hated herself if he'd managed to get himself hurt just to come and keep an eye on her... it'd be her fault if that happened. She nodded when he said he needed another weapon. She bit cheek in thought before going over to her side table and pulling out the dagger she'd gotten him. It was longer and sharper than the kitchen knife... it might be easier to use. "Would this be okay?" she asked in an almost breathless tone. Her chest hurt, and her breath was definitely speeding up, and at some point it just became difficult to get any air in at all. "We cant just sit here," she wheezed out after a moment of trying to calm herself down... trying to get her breath back. If her breathing stopped... well, then she'd be no good to anybody.

When she handed the knife to him, Sage nodded gratefully, his shoulders relaxing slightly now that he had his hand on an actual weapon. He could kill people with the kitchen knife, no doubt about that...he could kill with pretty much anything, even if it was his own teeth and nails. He had no issues with that. But it was quite obviously better to have a knife than trying to bite someone in the right spot. He looked back over at the girl when she said they couldn't just sit here and he frowned at her. She was hyperventilating....if she wanted to do anything, she'd better get that fixed. He marched over to the girl and sat her down on the bed, squatting down in front of her and looking her in the eye. "Anya, this is probably one of the safest rooms in the entire castle," he told the girl. "And right now you need to sit down figure your breathing out because if you pass out I can't fight and carry you around." The last part was mostly a joke, since he was trying to get the girl to calm down a bit, but there was some truth to it.

Anya furrowed her brows slightly as the boy came over. She wasn't just worried about the whole rebellion thing now... if she wasn't going to sort her breathing out, she'd end up passing out either way. She'd felt like this for ages... especially in the days coming up to all of this... her breathing, her heart, but it'd never actually become physical. If it had, then it wasn't noticeable. She supposed things had become a lot very quickly, and that all of this had just started to tip her over the edge. She felt bad that Sage has to deal with her, at all. He should be looking out for himself, not her. He was right, though. They wouldn't be going anywhere if her breathing wasn't right. Anya looked down at him with a soft nod, then watched the rise and fall of his chest, trying to copy it... though it did take a good couple of minutes to calm herself down. She hated being seen like this... so, and this is being frank, pathetic. If this was what she was like now, then god knows what an awful ruler she'd be. She didn't need to think about that though, not now. After about five minutes of fighting to steady her breath back, she'd almost gone back to normal. Her breathing did hitch every now and then, but it was... better. She wiped a couple of tears that'd fought their way to her cheeks, and just went back to biting down on the inside of her mouth... it was definitely better than whatever that was.

Sage didn't mind helping the girl...she'd helped him more than once, after all, and he wanted her to be happy. And even while she couldn't exactly be happy right then, he did want her to calm down as much as she could, because feeling like she was about to pass out wouldn't help her stress levels at all. He nodded when the girls breathing rhythm went slower and more even, and reached up to wipe a stray tear off her face before standing up and sitting down next to her, wrapping his arm around her shoulders in a kind of hug. It was, admittedly, a shy one...he didn't want the girl to think he was trying to make a move or anything, but previously, a comforting presence had seemed to help her, and he was terrified of making a wrong move but...well, to out it quite frankly, she needed help. "You'll be fine," he murmured quietly. "So will Luther and Att, and your parents have a whole slew of guards keeping them safe."
