She let the song engulf her, her body leaning into Ben's. She wanted to speak but words wouldn't come. She wanted to thank him but the thought was running out of reach. The ranch would fail. She let that fact wash over her in waves, the song background noise to the headache and heartache

Ben kept holding her and humming. Soon he broke the silence with a simple question. "What are you thinking about?"

"Everything" She breathed shakily

"It's gonna be okay. Everying is going to be okay," he reassured, rubbing her back gently.

"I'm scared....I thought you were into her and just pushed me aside, I'm scared I'm gonna lose the ranch...." She breathed

Ben sighed. Things were bad enough when Summer had showed up, and she'd made it all worse. "Look, I'm so sorry that scared you. I should've told you straight away that wasn't what was going on, but I didn't think to... As for the ranch... We can talk about ways to cut down prices later. For now, just relax. Everything's going to be okay. As long as we're both here, functioning, the ranch will stay too."
