"Ha, I've practiced so much I ain't using too much brain power. It's more instinct at this point." Zephyr snorted, glancing around, especially at one group of boys, with a sharp, icy, I-might-murder-you-if-you-come-closer glare. "I think you've grown more popular. Amazing curse, isn't it?" He asked a little drily, rubbing his face with his hands and running a hand through his hair, which almost just made it stand up more.

Sophia couldn't stand his hair anymore. "Ok. My OCD can't take this" she reached up and flattened his hair down. " there" she murmured as her eyes caught a few odd glances. A few people were whispering to each other. Sophia gulped and let her hands flop to her sides.

Zephyr's eyebrows just bought shot off his head. He tried to look up, but that just made his eyes look like a cartoon character's. "Can't take WHAT? Is it really that bad?" He asked with a slight wince. "Don't pay attention to them. You'll soon realize you will be much happier if you pretend no one but who you want to exists." He said quietly, shaking his head slightly, his bangs falling across his forehead.

"Just who I want? I can think of a few" she smiled a little. Her mom, dad, her siblings, and... she realized who the fourth was... Sophia looked up at Zephyr. He was her fourth. Her gaze shot back down as she comprehended it

Zephyr nodded a little, wanting to glare at his stomach as he felt the familiar tingle. Ohhh how he hated it. "It works a lot of the time. When you get to be experienced as me-" He paused with a grin. "Soon the whole world fades away and you're left with only the people you want to know about." He said cheerfully, leaning back slightly.

"As experienced as you- pfft!" Sophia chuckled. "Don't even" the s eh paused as he continued speaking. She wanted to ask if she was one of those people he wanted to know about... but could she actually. The second people looked away, her words spoke for themselves. "Am I one of those people you want to know about..?" Her eyes slowly looked up at him

Zephyr grinned again, looking amused. "Aw, but it's true, isn't it?" He asked with a slight smirk, then tilted his head slightly at her words. "Of course. You're one of- aw who am I kidding, my only friend, newfound or not, why would I ever not want to notice you?" He asked with a half snort half smile.

|
Sophia laughed lightly at his words. "Well you are on my list two. Newfound friend or not"

Zephyr's smile seemed to really be genuine, and light up his face at that. "Thanks. That's a good thing, I'm sure." He made the joke a little half heartedly, because he looked a little happier than normal and was focusing on that. For one she actually admitted she was really his friend. And that meant a lot to someone who was never well liked for who they were, just what they looked like or how they threw a basket.

Sophia smiled at his smile. She flicked his shoulder a few times. "Get used to this, by the way" she picked up her bags after putting her sketchbook away. "Time for class again. I'll see you later!" She waved goodbye. The bell rang and she walked to her English class. After that one and the next, she was on her way to the softball field
