It was strange, Sage's concept of fun. Upsetting people and making them hate his whole rank even more than they already did - it didn't seem like he was trying to help himself. Though, she would never know what it was like to be pushed to the point where such acts would have become her source of entertainment. As they walked, Anya hadn't noticed houses stopped having broken doors and tiles and became slightly more sturdy, but when she finally looked around there was an... what would you say? and upgrade, perhaps to their surroundings. It still wasn't Lord and Lady standard, but better than the lower village, at least. She nodded as he pointed out the center, a smile landing on her face as she started towards the town square. She had heard of entertainment going on in village centers, shops, music, plays, all that. Though, she couldn't see any of such. Although it was night, she still expected something to be going on. "Do they ever have anything going on up here? It's all been paid for, so there should be some form of entertainment for the towns folk.

Sage thought for a minute and shrugged. "There's some. It usually is something like a dance or some form of giant party for the whole town. I don't usually go to them though, because for one I'm not really part of the town, and two, I absolutely cannot stand crowds." He made a face. "Even if they wouldn't all simultaneously pick something up to throw the moment I show my face I would still rather be off on my own or with only a few select people." Crowds upset him almost as much as small spaces did, although he could quench those feelings and slip unnoticed around most of the time. "Usually when I'm up here I slip through the back alleys." He pointed to the darker parts, behind streets. "I can move around without being seen by most of the population. Granted, going in there is more dangerous, but it's better than getting a gazillion hard things thrown at me. One person is better than fifty "

Anya nodded. She had been somewhat excited to see the goings on in the village - She had helped organize it all, so as long as the people were enjoying the entertainment was enough, even if she would have to see it another time. Though, it was a little disappointing that the lower ranks weren't as welcomed. Anya smiled dimly over at Sage, "You don't seem like a party animal anyway. If the back allys keep you comfortable, then there isn't an issue," She shrugged quitely. It wasn't exactly settling to think he had to be so weary of the crowds, or that he had stones thrown at him when he came into contact with ranks even just a little higher than himself. Sage was a little rugged looking - even for someone of his own rank, which most likely didn't help the matter. Again, it shouldn't bother anyone. It wasn't like he was some disease. If the boy was good enough to talk to Anya, then surely the village folks should at least be civil.

Sage snorted out a laugh. "what ever gave you that idea," he joked in response to her party animal comment. He shrugged. "I've always managed in the alleys better than in a crowd. I like a space where I don't have to constantly watch my back." It was a literal comment, too. He liked to stay by a wall or solid object of some sort, hence his habit of leaning against and sitting against trees while I'm the woods. That way no one could sneak up on him. He could generally hear something or someone coming, but the really good ones can sneak up on even the most experienced fighter. Sage would rather be safe than sorry and watch in front of him without having to worry about what was behind him.

The girl rolled her eyes with a warm smile, "I dunno... Maybe the fact that you're always hiding." She noted with a chuckle, gesturing to his hair, "Normally, people who don't want to be seen won't put themselves in a situation where they're noticeable." She shrugged half-heartedly, looking around the square. It was quite pretty. Well, compared to the lower town. This place seemed like it was being looked after. Plants in the pots were alive, for a start. Although warmer looking by Anya's standards, she couldn't help the feeling that she was again being watched... Like eyes were burning into the back of her head. Only now, she was worried it was one of the castle's workers, which, for some reason, seemed worse. She shivered a little before looking around, though no one was there. Odd. "Hey, let's have a look around - I'm sure there's more to see," She chirped before marching on.

Sage chuckled. "True, true. I don't go out of my way to run after I mess with someone, I guess." Then he grinned and jogged after her until he came to her side and he slowed down to a walk. He pointed out the public baths, the library, the restaurants, and some of the stores and other town things as they walked around. He had to admit he was having fun, doing something that wasn't like....bad. Sure, messing with annoying and jerkish people was fun, but this was even better. He found himself enjoying it as they wandered around, almost more than he enjoyed playing the three of them. Lizzie was great, obviously, but it was nice to just be with someone his own age.

The idea of nothing being private out here was... an odd thought. Growing up with quite literally everything handed to you made the likes of a public library feel too... well, too public. Why share when you have your own that's most likely twice the size? Still, it was a glips of what people could do during the day; other than work, of course, but this is what she wanted. She was rather enjoying it too. Of course, the likelihood of her coming down the upper town was high anyway, and she was likely to see all this without Sage, but it was nice to have company while they were going around. It was a little odd that although it had been obvious from the beginning that she was a lot higher up than Sage, he had never once expressed hesitance to talk with her. If there had, the boy hid it well enough for her not to notice. "Thank you again for walking with me. I know you could use the rest." She noted, the last bit being slightly teasing of him. She had already thanked him. She had thanked him multiple times, actually, it didn't quite seem like enough to be so grateful for, but it wasn't only for doing his job, but also for being a semi-friend while doing it. Sage shrugged. "It's not like I have anything better to do," he chuckled. "I'd either be sleeping with a stranger or cleaning all night long if I weren't here with you. And this is much more enjoyable." After they made a loop all the way around the town and saw everything, the two kids ended back up at the town square again. Sage looked around for a moment and then looked up at the sky. "We still have a few hours. What else would you want to do tonight?" They had used about half the night walking around. It wasn't a huge town but there was enough there to look at things. Especially if you were interested, like Anya was. And Sage had to admit, he was curious about it too...he never had much, or really anything, and he did want to know how other, higher people operated through the day. What did they do if they weren't working or just trying not to starve? Did they not ever learn to defend themselves just because they felt they were safe because they were too important to get into trouble? He didn't know, and he could hardly say everyone was like Anya. He couldn't very well judge everyone off of what she was like. She was better than most, and talking to anyone else like he talked to her would send him to his grave one way or another, probably at the end of a noose. Anya pondered on his question for a while before her expressions had just gone blank. While it was visually pleasing in the upper village, she couldn't help but be a little disheartened by the lack of buzz. Even late at night, like the slums had life-given, it was mostly illegal life, but that seemed to be a part of the buzz. She wanted to go back there - but she wasn't sure what she wanted to do. Anya was a lot of things, but a thrill seeker wasn't one of them. Normally, it wasn't one of them, at least. Though, it would be a nice contrast from her bland days out in the castle gardens. She looked over at Sage with slightly furrowed brows, "I don't know," She chuckled sheepishly, looking around. "Something fun," She shrugged, looking about. "I'm sorry, I know that's not overly helpful." The girl winced slightly. She would have to start planning these nights out... What she wanted to see and do. The neighboring villages weren't particularly big, but she was sure there'd be something entertaining to do. She could ask the maids and say it was for research or something. "I was wanting to go back down to the lower village... Though, I haven't a clue what we'd do down there." She huffed, pinching between her eyes in ignominy.

Sage nodded and thought for a minute. "Well...there's a section of the woods with some targets painted onto some tree trunks. We could always teach you to throw knives or shoot a gun," he suggested. "I don't know if you would find that overly fun though." She would enjoy it, sure, but something else could probably be even more fun. He just didn't know exactly what...the lower village didn't have much to do. While they stood there he heard the whoosh of a sharp object and sighed as a rock flew past his face and hit the wall in front of him. He sighed, his face giving off a bored expression and turned to the woman who had thrown it and frowned slightly. "Well that was dissapointing. Can't you aim any better or throw harder?" She got super red in the face ... No doubt taunting her was a bad idea but he was annoyed and couldn't help himself. The woman picked up more rocks and hurled them his way, all of them going wide until she got a lucky shit and it hit his shoulder. It hurt, of course, especially since it hit a bruise he already had, but apart from a slight tightening of his eyes and jaw he have no indication as he huffed out a breath and rolled his eyes, ignoring the woman's ranting as she yelled and called names.
