Anya forced herself to pay attention to what as going on around her... there hadn't been anything that really called for her attention, everything was pretty much being done. A few commands where made by her mother, who was pointing all around in deciding where to put the most decrative tarps. At some point her father showed up to approve of the goings on, before scurrying off to attend to whatever matters concerned him. The whole place would eventually be dressed up in silver and gold, with red, blue and light green tints covering the walls. Drapes with silver knitted patterns hung from the ceiling, picturing the sorrowful past of the kingdom. Anya took the liberty of tasting snacks and refrshments, which was arguabley the only helpful thing she would do the whole day. She had barely noticed when the servants filed out the hall, leaving just Anya stairng at the ground while her mother stood admiring the scene. "Isn't it perfect?" The woman chirped, clapping her hands exitedly. Anya sighed and gave a nod, "Amazing," The girl huffed, rolling her eyes. This earned her nothing but a disapproving glare from the Queen. Anya gave a smile before looking at the door, "truely! I simply cant wait for this oh so exiting affair." The girl noted with a slightly more up beat tone. She was shoed away by her mother, who reluctently dismissed her. She wandered down to her chamber, where she once again found out some cash, only this time she dragged out some old rags with it, ready for the evening.

Sage wandered around for a while until he got bored so then he decided to go sneak through the alleys are worse off parts of the town because why not. Nothing much was happening in the better parts but something might be going on down there. He was close to it anyway, as his house was kind of in the border. He jogged off, still sore but no longer incredibly stiff. He didn't come across much right away, so he slowed to a walk with a huff. Something had to happen somewhere...he was bored and he needed something to do to take the edge off he still had from the night before. He wandered around for a bit until he heard some rats squeaking furiously. He'd go check it out ... The rats were feeding on something, and if it was another person it would mean a fight had taken place. Or someone had starved. Either one was likely. He jogged over to where the rats were swarming around a huge lump. It was definitely a person. Well, was. Now it was just a corpse that was half torn apart by rats. Sage showed the rats away and rolled the body over, and recognized the man. He didn't know him, but he had seen him around. Sage examined the body, wondering how he had died. When he lifted the man's head, his hands came away wet, so he looked at the back of the head and nodded when he saw the bullet wound. He put the man down and left the rats to eat. They were the only ones around who were always fed well, though sage knew if he tried to eat a rat he would probably get sick from it - they were nasty little creatures. He continued wandering around the alley, and saw a few fights and a few more dead or half dead people on his way back out. Nothing was incredibly exciting so he decided to just go back to the lake.

Anya sat on her little balcony for a while - a few hours, maybe until the sound of footsteps on the cold stone floor ceased. The castle had come to rest yet again, or it would once Anya had made her exit. She took a breath before grabbing the little brown envelope, picking up the rags, and folding them over her arm before slipping out of the door to her chamber. She was silently praying that she wouldn't be seen, or that she wouldn't run into any more maids or servants. How could you explain carrying old clothes about? It might have been acceptable for one of the castle employees, but Anya was far from one of those. She slipped out of the tunnel as usual before scurrying through the woodlands. A chill ran down her back as she walked. It was like she was being watched... A familiar but unsettling sensation. The woods had always been the least of her worries when she went out, but for some reason, it seemed more eerie than usual. The girl took a breath before gliding through the village. She stopped off at the tavern before remembering Sage saying he had the day off. She let out a small groan before continuing through the village, debating whether or not to stop off at his home. Though, she was quite frankly terrified of bumping into his father. Her best shot was stopping off at the lake. If the boy wasn't there then she could just leave him be. Anya doodled along the path until the lake came into sight, along with the figure of Sage. She gave an inward grin before sneaking behind him and dumping the rags in front of him, "Good evening, I hope?" She chirped brightly. Edited at August 3, 2022 02:08 PM by Belle

Sage had heard her walking towards him, deciding not to give her the satisfaction of acting startled. He glanced over at her and grinned. "Wet evening, and a bit boring, but it's all right." He chuckled and gave her a crooked, playful grin. "How was all the party planning," he asked, obviously teasing since she had made it clear she didn't enjoy it at all. He wondered who was in charge of that, and if they would let Anya do something other than decorate all day. Even if it was an hour or two, they could spare the set of hands, surely. He was curious about what she had brought with her, but waited for her to explain. He didn't want to ask, especially given their rankings. Besides, if it was the stuff for Lizzie he didn't want to seem like he had waiting for it impatiently. (Sorry it's kinda short but I'm busy today haha) Edited at August 3, 2022 03:12 PM by NightClan

(No problem! I truely don't mind about length :)) Anya rolled her eyes at him before plopping down on the sand. "Oh, party planning is... well, its party planning. My mother didn't seem too impressed with my lack of enthusiasm - other than when I got to taste refreshments, of course," She shrugged quietly. "Should be done soon though. I need to get measured up for a new dress tomorrow, then that should be the end of my torture." The murmured thoughtfully. Anya poked the rags with a shallow smile, "I didn't think your house would keep the rain out," Anya shrugged, looking him up and down. It didn't look like he had simply been caught in the rain though... Hell, it looked like he had been swimming. She scrunched her nose up at him playfully, "and your shirt is covered in blood, so, i found out some old clothes. They belonged to some of the servants that resided in the castle, i think.. There should be something there that'll fit, and there's some of my old things in there that might fit Lizzie." She shrugged. She wasn't sure if he would be offended by the act or not. If they didn't want anything, they could throw the clothes out, give them away, or sell them. Anya really wouldn't care.

Sage nodded slowly and grinned when she called it torture...he would describe it the same way if it was him. "Well it's ending," he chuckled. He looked over at the clothes, slightly surprised. "Thanks. I'm sure Lizzie will enjoy some new stuff." The clothes may have been from servants, but they were still nicer than anything either he or Lizzie had ever had, or ever worn for that matter. He shrugged. "The house is alright. I just don't sleep in there so I got soaked," he snorted, amused at how odd that sounded.

Anya tilted her head slightly. She assumed he at least slept in his home - though, when she had first met lizzie their father lunged at Sage first chance he got. Perhaps he was likely to do the same as he slept. Anya quivered at the thought. It was baffling how little someone could care about their child. She couldn't help but pitty the boy. He quite literally did everything for his little family, and yet he couldn't sleep under a roof with four walls. She just gave him a wonky smile, "I'm sure there would have been somwhere dryer than wherever you slept." She noted with a soft chuckle, "Sage, you look like you've been swimming." She shrugged playfully.

He grinned sheepishly. "I could sneak into the tavern, but I'd have to share a room with someone. And personally, the less I do that the better " He shrugged. "Besides, I stayed up and watched the house until I was sure the slave traders had left the town." He snorted out a laugh at how that sounded. "I'll sleep better out here than I will in four walls anyway. Im not a fan of tiny spaces thanks to my crazy childhood." His father would shove him in the small cabinets as a punishment, so he really didn't like small spaces...he would have something along the lines of a panic attack in something too small and being outsifebin the open was much better. Anya listened silently, trying to understand. Personally, she would rather a roof over her head to catching her death. She hadn't been raised to be as hardy as Sage was though. She scoffed lightly as he spoke, "yes, well it isn't normally anyones life goal to jump into bed with a stranger," she murmured arcastically. It was reassuring to know the traders had left though. Anya wasn't worried about herself being taken or whatever, she would be missed, but more so that there wouldn't be any more of those stomach turning screams. She gave him a semi-playful grin, pointing to the darker patches of blood on his shirt. "Well, at least you'll be presentable now. And it'll be easier to keep your wounds clean with a clean top." It didn't truely matter why he was out - he was safe for now, and hadn't caught any sort of sickness from the cold.

Sage chuckled and nodded and then shrugged. "That's probably true." He grinned sheepishly. "Although no matter how clean those clothes are now, they'll get dirty pretty quickly out here," he chuckled. He tended to trash everything he wore, although he only had one outfit (not including what Anya had just given him of course) so it was practically see through and dragged by now so it was good to have something else to wear now that it was starting to get colder out, especially at night. It was a bit chilly now, but once he dries off he would probably be fine. In a few hours or whatever, or even once he started walking and warmed up in that way. He was used to being outside, so he probably wouldn't get sick. If he was going to get sick from anything, it would be the cut on his side getting infected, which was probably going to happen at some point.
