Anya closed her eyes for a slight moment before furrowing her brows. She was trying to reason with herself. Trying to make what Sage had done alright in her head, but she couldn't do that anymore. Maybe years back it might have been possible... but not anymore. She'd turned into Att mother, really, and she couldn't help but be defensive for the boy. She wanted what was best for him, and she really couldn't see how what Sage had done was good for the child. "I did tell him about you," she murmured. "He might not remember very well, he's still young, but I told him," she whispered, "he wanted to know you too," she added with a sigh. "So, no I don't think you do know. I think you ran off because you were scared, no other reason," she snapped after a moment, a scowl written on her face.

Sage pinched his lips together and shook his head slightly. "Well what did you tell him? Did you tell him that I was a good person? Or a coward who ran away from him," he muttered. He was here...if the boy really wanted to know him, hed come get to know him. "Because I'm not the same person I was, Anya," he whispered. He'd changed, he knew that. He hadn't tried to fight in over a year, and he was just.. tired. He supposed he'd just given up by now. When she snapped he scowled and hugged out a breath. "Maybe I was afraid," he half growled, though he wasn't angry, just....well, he wasn't sure what. "Maybe I finally figured out that all love had done was hurt me, so I stopped deciding to tear myself apart for something I could have prevented!" He turned over so his back was to Anya and curled up, closing his eyes again, willing himself not to break down crying in front of the girl. He'd faced his greatest fear, allowing his heart to open for the girl, and for Att. He'd told her he feared love...did she even remember? He doubted it. But he feared it even when she had claimed to love him, and now he knew better than to love again. He still loved the girl, and it hurt, and he hated himself for not being able to shut himself off the way he used to. He never should have let himself break for Anya. He could glue the bits back together, but there would always be cracks.

Anya rolled her eyes at the boys words. "I don't care how afraid you were," she snapped quickly, though she was realising just how angry she was getting. Nothing he was saying was helping. He was probably tired, and in pain, but she for some reason wasn't registering that. "Love wasn't what was hurting you. You were hurting yourself by not opening up to it. You just thought it hurt because you're not used to it," she huffed, wincing when he turned away. "I don't understand how you could have prevented it," she murmured after a moment of silence. She didn't tell Att anything bed about Sage... in fact, it was quite the opposite. "I didn't tell him you were a coward, no," she shook her head slightly, a look of regret running across her face. "I told him all the good things... that you were smart, kind and brave. A bit stupid, but you can't be smart all of the time. But you're good," she hummed with a gentle chickle, trying to lighten the mood a little. A small smile crossed her face, replacing the dim, regretful look that was previously there. "I told him that you were very handsome, and that you loved us both very much," she chuckled slightly, "only, that was when I thought you were coming back."

Sage tried to block out her snapping, not really wanting to listen to her yelling at him. He didn't need that from her...not from anyone, but especially not from her. She was supposed to be the one he could tell everything. Supposed to be the one he could trust completely. But now, he felt almost afraid of the girl, like she'd just shoot down anything he tried to tell her. He wasn't going to beg for her affection..if she'd decided not to care that was her choice. "I could have just...kept my eyes on the ground and not let you in," he murmured. Then he huffed out a breath. "Well I'm not any of those things anymore," he murmured. "Not any of them. Except maybe stupid."

Anya was somewhat aware that he was blocking out her harsh tone... he was right to, because for every nasty thing she said, the girl had a nice thing backed up. Though... he was kind of ignoring her while doing that, and she found herself becoming more and more frustrated with him, though, rather than just yelling, she tried to keep herself calm... not so frustrated. "You're definitely stupid," she murmured quietly before looking down, a slight frown across her face. "But I'm afraid I don't know you well enough to back the rest off." She had to admit, it did hurt a little. Why? He'd said he wasn't any of those things, which meant he didn't love her anymore. She didn't expect him to, it'd been so long, but it still hurt to hear, even if she didn't love him either. "You could have done that, but didn't you enjoy all the good bits? Were they not worth having?" She asked with a slightly cocked head, a curious look on her face.

Sage winced when the girl called him stupid...it somehow hurt worse coming from her. But he couldn't exactly get mad at the girl...he'd called himself stupid himself. And she was right, she didn't know him anymore. Heck, he wasn't even sure he knew himself...he just knew he wasn't anything he was when he was with Anya. He sighed and shrugged. "I...I don't know," he admitted. "It's hard to find the good in memories I know I never should have let happen," he murmured. "I guess they're... bittersweet. I want them to be good, but...I just don't know," he sighed wearily. He really couldn't think anymore, he just wanted to sleep. Part of him wanted Anya to come over and reassure him he hadn't made such a big mistake, letting her in, but he knew she didn't care any longer. He wasn't even sure he'd take her words to heart any more.

Anya gave a bit of a sigh to the boy before shaking her head. "Well, I enjoyed our time together," she murmured softly before standing up and taking a slight step towards his bed, leaning over him a little so she could see him, trying a little smile. "I would have hoped you did too. I gave you everything I had," she murmured after a moment. She knew he'd given her all he could too... did he regret that? She didn't know, but it was getting harder and harder to look at him without becoming less angry and more... sad. But she really had given him her... well, everything. She'd opened her heart to him, her home, her body, it all. Did that not mean anything? She missed everything they'd had, and she knew they wouldn't get it back.

Sage nodded slowly and rolled over to give the girl a small smile. "I know. And I did enjoy our time together. I don't wish it never happened I just....know it shouldn't have," he murmured. He'd given the girl everything too...but she didn't care now. He still cared for the girl, and wouldn't care if she crawled up in his bed that night. But he knew she'd moved on, and for good reason. He wanted one more touch, one more kiss, one more anything. But he couldn't ask this anymore of the girl. That's wasn't his place. He'd acted like her equal, but he had already decided not to any more. Maybe if he pushed her away, made himself believe he no longer held feelings for the girl, maybe they'd go away and stop tearing him apart.

Anya couldn't help but feel a little better when he saw the boys smile. She hadn't see it in so long... it was nice to see in a way she couldn't quite explain. She was still a little frustrated with him, and she couldn't help but be a bit upset about the whole thing, but his smile was a type of comfort to her, in a way. "It shouldn't of happened, but that doesn't mean it was a bad thing," she murmured softly. "You've grown up," she observed with a bit of a chuckle. She took a glance at he clock, realising how long it'd been before looking back at him with a gentle smile and placed a soft hand on his side. "I've missed you," she murmured quietly before shaking her head slightly. "I'll see you later on," she noted before turning off back towards her mothers office to finish off some little jobs.

Well, the girl had stopped yelling at least. She'd seemed to have calmed down a bit, which was always a good thing...Anya could be a bit scary when she got mad. Luther could agree with that. When she noted that he'd grown up, he let out another sigh and closed his eyes again. "I had to," he murmured quietly. He opened his eyes again when she placed her hand on his side, glad to feel her warmth against him, even if it wasn't in a romantic way. "Yeah," he whispered hoarsely in response, glad to see a true smile on the girl's face. He fell asleep again almost as soon as she'd left...he was exhausted, but a bit more at ease about how the girl felt. At least he knew she didn't completely hate him. She just no longer loved him. He supposed it was hard to know a whole new person.
