Luther giggled and shook his head. "I didn't get a choice, no," he hummed with a wrinkled nose. He shot the doctor a playful glare. "I also had to hold you down during your surgery, so I better get a thank you," he chuckled lightly. He did notice Anya being a bit awkward... and he couldn't help but feel bad for her. She'd mentioned wanting to talk to him earlier, but she just didn't seem able to hold a conversation with the other boy. He nudged the girl gently to get her attention before tipping his head towards Sage. She seemed busy playing with Att for a while before sighing and pointing towards Sage. "Say hi," she huffed to the child, who gave a grin and a big wave to the boy as he gently bounced up and down on her knee. Luther rolled his eyes and gave a soft smile before shaking his head with an almost pitiful look on his face.

Sage chuckled and shook his head as the doctor snorted and rolled his eyes. "Well thanks then, I suppose." Then his brow furrowed slightly. "Wait...why did you have to do that, exactly," he asked the boy. When Att grinned and waved he smiled at the boy and waved back, resulting in a giggle from the younger boy. He'd noticed Luther's attempt to get Anya to talk, but the girl just wasn't having it. He and Luther exchanged a look, and sage shook his head slightly, almost as if saying to just leave the girl alone. He didn't know what she was thinking, but if she didn't want to talk to him, he wasn't going to force her to, even if it did hurt to know she just wasn't interested in him any more. Even if it was just interested him as in a friendship....she didn't seem to want it. And, well, he'd leave her alone if that was the case.

Anya gave a soft smile when Att gave his little giggle. The child really was her world... she loved him with everything she had, like he was her own son, and really every ounce of joy he showed seemed to rub off on her. Luther shook his head slightly... why couldn't she just talk to the other boy, it wasn't hard. If Luther could talk to him after kicking him out of the castle, then surely Anya could talk to him after supposedly loving him so much. Whatever. He didn't really care, to be honest. He wasn't having any issues and despite Sages condition, the boy was being lovely. He'd even tried a joke with all of them to get them comfortable, it was just a shame it hadn't quite worked. He made a face in return to Sages look before shaking his head with a slight chuckle. "Why... well, when you were being tube fed it was because the doctor was scared of you puncturing an organ, and during your surgery it was because you were lashing around like a mad man." It was a bit of a stretch, but it was rather amusing, from where he was standing at least.

Sage wrinkled his nose slightly at Luther's comment. "Really? Huh," he mused. "Thought if I was unconscious that wouldn't happen. Oh well, you did fine because Im pretty sure my organs are still fully intact," he chuckled. Well, if Anya didn't want to talk she didn't have to. And if she wouldn't really let Att talk, then while it hurt him more than he could ever let on, it wasnt something he had a say in. Maybe it would be better if he didn't talk to the boy either...what would he even say if he asked about him? He didn't know. Maybe he just shouldn't leave the ward, that might be best. Because Anya obviously was uncomfortable around him, and she'd taken over Att. The boy was no longer his...the very thought made him choke up, but he swallowed the lump. Being upset sucked, but he was used to it. Besides, he wasn't important, not at all. And if Att was being raised as a royal, then he shouldn't be talking to sage. He wondered if Anya had even told Att about him. He'd raised the boy for a while, after all, and he'd saved him. But he doubted it...Anya wanted nothing to do with him. The only reason she'd come back and not let him die alone was because Luther dragged her back.

after a little while of Luther and Sage going back and fourth, and Att and Anya just sitting in the corner, Luther eventually stood up and grabbed Att from Anya after noticing the child becoming more inpatient. Anya had tried to follow, but Luther had sat her back down in a chair next to the boys bed. Anya was going to have a decent conversation with him whether she liked it or not. She was silent for a few moments before sighing and shaking her head. "Why'd you leave me like that?" Maybe this wasn't the best way to start a civil conversation, but she had nothing else to say. Maybe she was angry at him, but she didn't have a clue. "You left me with Att, and I had no clue what to do with children... you didn't come back," she went on, realising she was ranting a bit, but she really, really didn't care. She wanted an answer from him.

Sage enjoyed talking with Luther, he really did, but by the end of their conversation he was getting tired. His head hurt, and he really just wanted to go back to sleep. Though, he supposed he couldn't exactly shoo Anya away, not now, and he supposed she was asking fair questions. He let her rant for a moment before sighing and turning to face the girl. It took more effort than he thought it would, but he managed eventually. "I already told you," he murmured. "I thought you'd be better if without me there. Safer. Luther may have over exaggerated a bit, but he was right when he said you could get in a lot of trouble too," he told the girl. He hoped she'd understand that much...it was really all he had, and he really was just exhausted by then so he wasn't really up for a lengthy conversation.

Anya just frowned at him. She knew she couldn't be upset about anything than happened in their teen years... they'd been dumb, stupid, and now they were playing the price for that. But she didn't want to just brush over it... it had quite literally changed her life when he'd left. He'd left her with Att, and while she loved him now, Sage knew she didn't want him when he'd first arrived. She didn't have a clue what she was meant to say to him now. "Well you were wrong," she huffed, rolling her eyes slightly. "You left Luther and I in an impossible situation, where we had a child to look after that wasn't even our own. A child that we didn't even want. We were seventeen, you know how that made us look?" She asked with a frown. She knew Sage would have been tired, and probably wanted to rest... but she had wanted to let him know how things were once he'd gone. He would have had it hard out in the slums, but that didn't mean things had been overly easy for her, either.

He groaned and flopped back on the pillows when Anya started lecturing him about Att. "You didn't have to keep him," he protested. He looked over at the girl, face twisting slightly at the thought of leaving the boy behind. "Do you think I wanted to abandon the boy? I couldn't very well bring him with me, and I quite obviously couldn't stay." He shook his head slightly, closing his eyes again and taking a deep breath, trying not to get upset. No, not upset per say...he was really just trying not to break down crying again. He was sick of that. Besides, everyone knew the boy wasn't theirs...he would think that the people would appreciate rulers who cared enough to raise a child who wasn't their own but needed them.

Anya furrowed her brows at the boy. People knew the child wasn't theirs, but that didn't stop talking amongst the higher ups. People wondered where the child came from, and why they were keeping him, and for who... but the truth was, if they answered any of their questions they'd be slandered for so much as knowing Sage. It'd put a taint on their reputation. All she could do was stare at Sage, finding herself becoming more and more, well, angry about the whole thing. She should understand where Sage was coming from, and that he was trying to protect her and Att... but as of then she didn't care. "I didn't want to hand him over to anyone you wouldn't have approved of," she growled. "You were meant to be there when we met people! You were meant to be there for Att," she sighed before shaking her head and tilting head to the side. "I wanted him to know you, and you didn't bother to say goodbye. You didn't even bother to visit." she admitted after a moment of quiet.

Sage winced slightly and the sighed. "I know," he murmured. "I just never should have let us be more than princess and servant," he muttered eventually. "It would have kept all this from happening." He did regret his decision to allow Anya in....he knew better, and he fell for the girl anyway. Well, no, he acted on it. He supposed he couldn't help falling for the girl, but that didn't mean he had to have allowed her to become a friend. He could have shut her out, stayed in the position he should have stayed in. He probably should have stayed away from Luther, too. Away from anyone higher than him, really. "I loved Att. I still do. But wouldn't it be better for him if everyone believes he's not a rank that people don't even want alive?" He just wanted what was best for everyone here...and now, all of them seemed mad at him or something, except for Luther, and he was still a bit wary of the boy. He could act fine, but that wasn't what he was feeling.
