He's just not a dog person in general. He'll pet and hold them, sure, but anything else, except getting necessities for them? Fat chance.

she's a puppy, Geek. that's what they do as they're learning, especially with things they don't like. it's important, though, so you'll have to be able to handle listening to her carry on until she learns

Fat chance of that happening. He's not a dog person, but he wants to bitch about how I handle her, but yet, he won't help train her, he won't pay for her to get professionally trained. No idea what he wants from me.

I feel like your dad wasn’t ready for a puppy to be brought into the apartment. (This isn’t against you. That’s a HIM issue) but he also sounds like he’s going to make it 10c harder

She’s barking and carrying on because she knows you’ll come back

It sounds like you need to get your dad on board with training because if you dont then it could be worse for the dog
The Feral Equine

Best advice is get your dad ear plugs and get the puppy a crate and a Kong and let her learn

Honestly, her brother, Max, who's my brother's dog, is better behaved. I try to leave her alone, but all she does is whine, and bark, and carry on.

A week, or a little longer.

Khaos

Yeah, I tried. She hates it, my dad yells at me, even though I literally WATCH her.

Honestly if she’s with you 24/7 she may develop separation anxiety which will cause real issues for both you and the dog. She may need her own space to learn to somewhat be on her own and cope for a few hours on her own

she might also be starting to get separation anxiety, which is another good reason to work with being able to leave her alone

Last night, I went to go get dinner, and left my pup in my room. Mind you, door was open, she had food, water, a clean puppy pad, etc. I wasn't gone a minute, she starts howling and barking. My dad started yelling at ME, just because I left her in there. Well, sorry I went to get food!

I've seen pretty decent crates (they may need cleaning) at second stores for pretty affordable prices.

Use a leash and tying the dog to a safe anchor point
I will give them a bed to learn to chill and then let them sort it out and when the chill they get rewarded

we had to deal with our boy as a pup with leash training, where he would literally throw screaming tantrums if he didn't get to go where he wanted lol as in, neighbors would be looking out their doors to see if we were killing him XD

you have to be patient and firm

Definitely look into distraction balls. Work with different treats… she may just be fussy with treats. How long have you had her?
The Undercity
06:37:26 Dory
What puck said. It could also be she is under stimulated I have always had active dog breeds and if you give them a job it is better for them in the long run

I got her trained to sit, for the most part. I'm trying to do baby steps, easy training, with treats as a reward if she does it.

What's tethering?

Greek, the next time your father yells at you. Tell him to step in and take over. This may sound rude but HE is gonna make it very difficult for this dog to learn properly.

that's the dumbest thing I've heard. If that's the case, routine health needs, i.e baths or nail trimming is "abuse"

Ryker glanced at Abby as she walked to the front of the barn, patting Serpant before following her. "You're right, peach did work out well. And the green looks awesome." He laughed, smiling at her exuberant manner and looking around at the brand new barn.

She hugged him before practically running around the barn. "I'm so exciteddddd!!!!!" She sat down in front of Suns stall and looked around.

"I see." Ryker grinned, striding over to the golden nameplate that was etched with Serpant's registered name. "Everything is beautiful... and the barn will house its first foal in just under two weeks."

"Yeppp!!!" Abby jumped up and bounced up and down. "What should we name it..? " she stared at Ryker.

Ryker tilted his head in thought at her question, a smile coming to his face. "How 'bout Bright Sun Farms?" He inquired

She nodded like crazy "yesssss!!! And what about a foal name?" Abby giggled and hooked herself onto his arm like she always did. She pulled on him. "When do you think she's going to pop?"

Ryker was a little surprised Abby agreed with the name, but then again, she was Abby. "Aw c'mon I can't think up EVERYTHING. The best thing I got for a foal name is Sunny Shadows." he laughed. "Hopefully in about 2 weeks, but maybe a little earlier with how Sun looks."

"Summertime Shadow!" Abby smiled. "Because Suns competition name is Completely Summertime. Like it?" She raised her eye brows. Abby made her way to the back of the barn where she opened the large barn doors. She let the breeze blow through her cooper hair before stopping and leaning against the frame to watch her dapple grey mare roll in the grass. She stopped, looked back at Abby, then gave a sweet nicker. She didn't bother to stand so she just laid on her side.

"that's perfect." Ryker said with a smile. It really was. He slowly strode over to the other side of the door frame and watched Serpant graze in the pasture, a soft smile on his face.

Sun gave a low nicker, laying completely on the ground before heaving herself to her hooves. Without a word, abby ran to the tack room in the other side of the barn and grabbed the mares halter. She rushed to the pasture, quickly catching Sun and walking her into the large foaling stall. She had read so many different articles about foaling mares that she was prepared for anything. Abby lifted her mares tail to uncover two small hooves. "Ryker! She's in labor!" She let the mare go in her stall.
