Axel couldn't help the slight twitch of his lips when Duncan mentioned he was never very good at following directions himself, pretty amused at the comment. "I noticed," he noted, voice aced with amusement as he patted the pillows next to him. "I'm sure all this isn't exactly.... conventional," he added raising his eyebrows slightly. At Duncan's question though, he grunted and shook his head. "I was raised in Winter," he noted. "I've never met my mother, and the only time I've been to Fall was marching through it to get to a battle point," he added. "Besides, if I left winter they'd probably just track me down and drag me back anyway, so no use going elsewhere," he added, leaning back against the wall behind him, hoping the darkness would hide the faint tension that had appeared in his body as he talked about his kingdom. When the other man explained when flying was like though, he felt his eyes widen, trying to imagine what it was like. He could do just that .. imagine. And only imagine. He barely had any freedom as was, let alone flying around and going wherever he pleased. "That's cool," he noted with a nod, sort of squinting in an attempt to see the wings themselves better. "How do your shorts work," he added, now just curious about the logistics of them. "Do you ever hit them on things? Like when you walk past a table and clip your hip on the edge or whatever?" |

Duncan chuckled, "No, its not really," he hummed lightly. Duncan listened to him as he spoke about his past. He noticed the tension in his body and in his words. It was sad really. He didn't prod on that topic again. Duncan nodded and smiled, "Yeah, I suppose it is pretty cool," he chuckled. "Magic," he replied simply. "Older styles have various buttons and clasps, but now we've learned how to put some magic on them," he explained. But at the mention of things touching his wings, Duncan got visibly uncomfortable. His wings were connected to everything intimately involved with him, as they were for every Night Kingdom male, and they were highly sensitive. "No, we're very careful not to do that," he breathed, shifting his wings, tucking them in a little more. "And everyone knows better than to touch them," |

Sage had hummed softly in thought as the magic was brought up, nodding along after a moment. "That makes sense," he agreed after a moment or so. "It doesn't make you tired to use your magic," he added, thinking back to his own powers. Maybe it was just because he was crossed that his own powers wore him out...or maybe simple magic was easier than the moves he'd been taught for combat in terms of his own powers. He did notice that Duncan seemed uncomfortable when he mentioned things touching his wings. The way he tucked them in closer to his own body. He made a mental note not to bring that up again. "Well thats good then," he noted. "I think if i had extra limbs it would just give me more opportunities to trip over myself," he added with a chuckle. He wasn't especially clumbsy, but the wings were large, and he couldn't really imagine having to carry them around all the time. |

"Oh, no, no, the Seamstresses and the Tailors put spells on them. Like a jinx or a hex," he explained. "I don't know those spells, so I'm not using my magic for that," he explained further. Duncan nodded. "Yeah, I suppose it does," he chuckled lightly. "But in your early teens they get sensitive, so you learn to handle them pretty quickly," he explained, a light blush covering his cheeks. "Anyway, do you need anything else?" he asked, quickly changing the subject. His wings had always been an awkward subject for him. He'd only ever had one girlfriend, and that was only a few months ago. But still, he'd never let her come close to his wings. But he supposed it was more awkward to explain it to a guy, because normally they already knew about the whole wing thing. But this man didn't because he didn't have any, and as far as Duncan knew, he wasn't particularlly romanitcally interested in guys. (for now...) |

(poor Duncan, axels gonna come in and rock his world upside down xD) Axel had nodded along to Duncan's comments, thinking about that for a minute or so. "That does make sense," he admitted after a moment or so. If whoever made the clothes could use magic in order to get them to work, that did seem to work best. When he explained that the wings were sensitive, he nodded long with a hum. "That'll do it, I suppose," he mused. He wasn't entirely sure what he meant by sensitive, but either way whacking them against things wouldn't feel particularly pleasant, so he imagined they learned how to not do that fairly early on in life. At his question about needing anything else, he just shook his head. "I'm alright," he noted, waving the other mans slight concern off. If it was even that. Really, what he needed was to get outside, to see the sun. To breathe some fresh air. But he knew that was a bit unreasonable to ask for. He did wonder if the kingdoms leaders had decided what to do with him yet...or if they were just planning to keep him here forever. But that wasn't something he wanted to ruin their conversation with.... admittedly, he'd enjoyed it. |

Duncan nodded. "Okay, just let me know if you need anything, then," he hummed, standing. "Its late, I should get some rest," he sighed softly, turning away. "Oh," he turned back. "I never caught your name," he hummed. (sry its short) |

(all good!) Axel had nodded when the prince stood to leave, admittedly a little sad he couldn't stay longer. It was rather boring being locked up, and, well ...he did like the otheran, even if they were supposed to be on opposite sides of this war. For whatever reason, he trusted him....at least a little bit. He was friendly...had taken care of him, in a way. So, when he asked for his name, he just offered him a small smile. "Axel," he noted, watching as the shadow that was the prince walked away then. He fell asleep soon after that, though he was woken by clanging on the bars as the guards slid his normal bowl of water into the cell. He muttered a curse towards them, not wanting to get up right then, but apparently that wasn't the best option, since next thing he knew he was being grabbed by the hair and yanked upwards. He was awake instantly, lips curling into a sort of snarl as the pair of guards fell upon him, twisting him back into the chains and landing blow after blow until a heavy hand hit his head and knocked him out, his body sagging where it was kept by the chains around his wrists. The wound on his side had been reopened, and the blood was dripping slowly from the bandages. His head was also bleeding, and he had plenty of other scraps and bruises from the guards' heavy hands. |

Duncan smiled. "Goodnight, Axel," he dipped his head to him before leaving. Completely unaware of what was happening in the dungeons. He went by his usual routines, bathing, tenderly washing his wings, and settling to bed. The next morning when he woke, he continued to go by his usual routines. He got up, getting dressed and ready for the day, taking his time, making sure he looked professional. Duncan then went down to breakfast, keeping quiet at the table, but spending time with his family. Duncan silently slipped food into his pockets for Axel, making sure nobody noticed. And then, around midday, he finally went down to see Axel, a faint smile on his lips as he walked down the halls of the dungeon. He made it to Axels cell and peered in, expecting to see him awake and happy to see him, or at least the food, but intead he found the mans crumpled, bleeding form on the ground. "Holy shit," he muttered, unlocking the door quickly and scrambling over to him. "Axel! Axel!" he shouted, trying to wake him up. Duncan quickly realized he needed to get him out of here. Axel was badly hurt and he needed treatment now. Genlty, Duncan scooped the man up, bridal style, and carried him to his own bedroom. He'd had to go through the secret tunnels and passegways so they weren't seen, but they got there. Duncan gently laid the man down on his own bed, quickly getting his first aid kit. He'd managed to clean the wounds, stop the bleeding, stitch him up and patch him up fairly fast. Now all he had to do was wait. |

Axel hadn't woken when Duncan shook him, skin pale and breaths shallow by the time the prince had reached him. It had been a while since the guards had left, so he'd lost a fair amount of blood in that amount of time. He did wake a while later though, once his body had been able to catch itself back up to more normal levels. He woke with a soft groan then, eyes fluttering open and a hand going to his head, which was pounding rather badly. He quickly realized he was no longer in a cell, so he shifted to attempt to sit up with a wince, eyes widening as he did so. Then Duncan was there, keeping him from sitting up completely...which was probably a good thing because a sharp pain in his side warned him against too much movement as he shifted. He squinted up at the other man, clearly a little confused and the pain wasn't exactly helping. "The hell is going on," he managed to get out after a moment. He trusted Duncan, for whatever reason ...but he was definitely a little confused. |

When he woke, Duncan kind of jumped, gently putting his arms out, stopping him from sitting up all the way. "Don't move too much, you don't wanna make it worse," he explained softly, helping him lower himself back down to the bed. "I came to bring you food and I found you, I don't know what happened, but I'm so sorry," he murmured, sitting beside him. "I patched you up, but you're still healing," he sighed. |
