Sage had frowned, intently studying the merman's body as he tried to figure out what was wrong with him. When he rolled over, he cursed under his breath, placing a gentle hand next to the sore. "Damn traders. Can't keep anything healthy," he grumbled to himself, reaching for the first aid kit and kneeling down next to him. He wasn't sure exactly why he felt bad for him, but he did need him healthy. This certainly wasn't helping research by letting a wound fester. He cleaned it out best he could, and for some reason he decided to sit next to the merman until he woke. He wasn't sure why....but he told himself it was to monitor his vitals closely.

While he was asleep, the sun beat down on him, drying him off. Eventually his scales began to shrivel before morphing into a pair of human legs. Remy continued to rest until he eventually woke slowly. He felt much better, thanks to Sage. But when he noticed his legs, he panicked. He covered himself and rolled off the platform, back into the water, his tail coming back. He glared up at the human. He was very, very vulnerable in his human form as he didn't know how to use him legs. "Thanks..." he muttered.

Sage felt his eyes widen when he noticed what was happening to the merman's tail. He had legs? He looked just...like a human. A real person. Not just some animal. It made sense, he supposed, given the communication and all the rest. But he really didn't know much about the merman. He sort of just sat there, pondering things. Of course, when the merman suddenly jerked and rolled back into the water, he half jumped, then peered over the end of the platform, watching him with wide eyes. "You have legs," he noted dumbly. He nodded in response to his thanks, though, back to business. "You'll need to keep it clean. Which means getting somewhere you or I can keep putting the ointment on it," he noted.

"No shit," he muttered under his breath. Remy didn't like his legs, as he couldn't use them. He was vulnerable with them. If he was too far from water, he might be captured. He couldn't move or run away in human form. He groaned and rolled his eyes. More of this insufferable asshole. "Fine. When does it need to be put on?" he asked.

Sage wrinkled his nose slightly at the merman's comment, but decided to give him a tad bit of grace since he did almost just die and whatnot. "Twice a day. Morning and night," he noted with a shrug. "I don't care if you put it on yourself but I'm not sure your arm will bend that far back," he admitted. He didn't mind doing it....he wanted to keep him healthy. Besides, talking with the guy had admittedly pulled him in closer than he'd like. He jumped slightly when the door banged open, paling slightly when he noticed the men there, his father among them. He pulled a fake look of composure on, but his heart pounded in his chest. "Any new information," his father demanded, grabbing his notes and going through them. Sage heasitated before gulping and shaking his head no. "Nothing new," he noted quietly. The mans gaze bore into his then, and he dropped his gaze quickly. Evidently it was a mistake, since he didn't see the hand that hit him across the face, hard enough to send him reeling, blood dripping from his temple. "Well find something out. Nothing won't get the money. You have until tomorrow," he growled. Sage really didn't comprehend most of it, since his head was spinning, but he caught the last bit, and his panic spiked again, despite the men storming out already.

Remy nodded, opening his mouth to reply just as the men came in. He quickly shut it and sunk into the water, keeping his nose just above water so he didn't have to switch to his gills and then back to lungs again. He watched the interaction between the men, gritting his teeth. Sage hadn't done anything wrong my the man who hit him, he didn't deserve to be hit. Remy heard everything and when the conversation was over, and the men left, Remy emerged his head from the water again. "What does he mean?" he asked, swimming over to the platform, propping his arms up on it. "Why do you need something before tomorrow?"

Sage glanced over at the merman when he popped back up, sitting up with a sort of groan and touching a hand to his temple, scowling when he noted the blood on his fingers. "I think they're planning on selling you off to an aquarium or something," he noted, shaking his head slightly. "I'm not updated on much," he admitted quietly. He knawed on the lip ring, using his tongue to move it around before wrinkling his nose. They might both hate what came next. "You know what," he sighed. "Fuck my dad. I'm teaching you to use those damn legs of your ao we can get the hell out of here and away from them," he practically apat, more than fed up with being knocked around. He was lucky his father hadn't done anything worse....he normally did.

"Yeah, theres no way I'll be able to walk by tomorrow, I can't even feel my legs, let alone walk," he replied. "What do you need to know to make him leave you alone? To buy us some time," he asked. "But if you want to know anything, you better start treating me like a person, not a specimen. I can escape an aquarium real easy, you need my help,"

Sage wrinkled his nose slightly, nodding. He supposed it would take some time to figure legs out. A tail was....much different. He hummed in thought, thinking about what he could tell his father. "Not about your legs. And not about where he could find any more mer..people?" He scratched his head with a sigh, flopping over onto the platform with a groan. "God, I hate people sometimes," he muttered to himself, running his good hand over his face with a sigh.

"I wouldn't tell you those things regardless," he replied. "Hm... would my gills work? That I can switch between lungs and gills, I can speak..." he thought aloud. "We communicate underwater using a series of clicks from our gills. We can't speak underwater,"
