Danika looked up in surprise as she recognized movement, blinking up at the merman. She frowned at how uncomfortable he seemed, her eyebrows tugging together in obvious upset. She tried not to make it seem obvious she was watching him, but the longer he moved, the clearer his discomfort became. She closed her eyes and set her head in her hands, letting out a small groan. Days of work to try and make it as perfect as possible and she... fucked it up. Great.

She dug the heels of her hands into her eyes, crinkling her nose up and taking in a hard breath before she dropped them. She wrote a few things to finish up on her laptop, then closed it and stood from her seat. She set herself calmly on the floor in front of the tank, trying to have a slightly more amiable face than usual. She managed a little smile, waving quietly. "I'm sorry you dont like it. I did try to make it comfortable, you know." She explained, more for herself than anything. It wasn't like he could understand her.

Danika smiled just a little more genuinely as he mimicked her, settling her hand down in her lap and watching him for a moment. She bit the inside of her lip as he grazed the bottom and jolted, letting out a huff. She got to her feet, dusting her pants off and taking in a deep breath. "Well. It's not five stars, I'm guessing. I'll see what I can do about it." She muttered, gently rubbing her forehead and walking to her computer. They were gunning it to port anyway. She was sure Davenport was already leaking the news out- he would wait a while while the rumors spread, confirm them, wait a bit longer and only then accept offers for buyers. If she had to guess, this poor thing would fetch millions. Hundreds of them, maybe. Likely some private owner, or maybe a well off museum.

She did her best to turn her back to the shy, panicked creature behind her, tapping away on her computer. The only safe option She could think of was to tranquilize him AGAIN, then go through and fix the tank. But that felt cruel, especially after two consecutive treatments. She gently rubbed at her temples, then stood up from her desk, moving toward the door. On one of the most funded private owner research ships in the world, surely some of that new tech Davenport Labs had been developing were nearby. She glanced over her shoulder, giving a little wave again to show she was leaving. "I'll be back." She said lightly, to no one in particular, she assumed, since he was hiding behind kelp.

She stepped out of the tank room and shut the door behind her, locking it with the finger pad identifier. She didn't trust her coworkers not to go ogle him.

It took about fifteen minutes of rifling through the laboratory on board to find what she needed. As she had expected, there was something that could help her- a little hand held scanner that worked through some sort of scientific magic to use the atomic compounds in a substance and change it into another with simply a scan and a push of a button. She didn't understand, but she didn't need to. Oh, how she loved living in the 22nd century.

Danika hummed slightly to herself as she walked back toward the room with the tank, pausing her little melody to glare at a few of her coworkers congregating around the door. One of which was a dear friend to the one who had been slashed. None looked very amiable, but she was far more dangerous than any one of them. They knew that. It's why they moved for her when she went to the door, a look on her face that seemed a little too sinister. "What do you want?" She asked flatly, turning and leaning her back against the door. The tossed and caught the scanner gun in her hand idly, causing her peers to give her an even wider berth.

One brave man, however, piped up. M "We want to see it. It nearly took Laura's arm off, and we want to show it a little bit of... welcome." He said, smiling as if she might be entertained by the absurd idea.

She peered at him flatly till his toothy grin fell away.

She let out a sigh, as if tired of being surrounded by idiots. "It is not open for discussion. He is Davenport's property. Unless you want to be hacked apart and fed to the little mermaid, I suggest you keep the silly ideas like that to yourself. If you try going against that- and let me make myself perfectly clear-" She prefaced, sending a glare around at the already backward inching crowd. "No one goes in this room unless given express permission by me or Davenport. If you find your way in otherwise... the consequences will be unsavory." She said simply, turning and opening the door, slipping inside. "Have a nice day." She purred sarcastically through the opening, shutting it behind her and locking it. She rolled her shoulders and shook her head, turning around to watch the little- or, big, rather- merman flit around the tank in a fit. She took a few steps closer, bringing herself up to the glass. As gorgeous as he was, watching him panic and sprint in circles around the tank wasnt doing much for anyone. She waved, a little more vehemently than last time, simply trying to get his attention.

Danika blew out a small breath as the siren swam away from her, attempting to hide again. She smiled softly at his tail peeking out, and the little covert glance he threw at her between pieces of kelp. It was kind of adorable- or would've been, if he wasn't scared out of his mind. She waved gently at him again, motioning for him to go upwards, toward the top of the tank. She watched his glance catch on the shiny metal of the gun, perhaps a little glint of desire for it in his eyes.

She made sure he was out of the way, then settled the scanner close to the glass, letting it run an invisible scan on the floor in the tank. A few setting and a couple clicks later, she aimed it back at the tank and clicked the activate trigger. It was almost instantaneous and surprisingly gentle- the rocks had been either crushed into sand or... eviscerated. A few bubbles drifted up to the top of the tank and burst as a result, and she leaned back tentatively, looking up at the siren. She gestured carefully to the fine sand at the bottom of the tank, then walked to set the scanner down on her desk. She couldn't let him have it- Davenport would have her ass if She did- but if it was the shiny things he liked, she had plenty of those. She gently pulled a gold ring off her left hand- silver with an amethyst stone in the center. It was simply sterling silver coated in gold, the inside showing the sterling from being worn. She rolled her desk chair around, spinning the ring around her fingers. If he liked it, she would give it to him.

Danika smiled at the siren's reaction, giving a little shrug. "Don't say I never did anything for you." She joked, again more for herself. She was pretty sure he could hear her through the glass- of course, it wasn't like he could understand her.

She held her hands out for her companion, opening them just a little so he could watch the ring spin around her finger. "You're like a magpie." She grinned, watching as he came closer. She slowly rolled forward, trying to show him She wasn't a threat. "Do you want it?" She asked, pointing at the ring and then to him.
