"Well, I pride myself on being observant." She said sarcastically. She held her hands up innocently. "Yes, sir. But it must be rather lonely. How do you handle it?" She asked, tilting her head. Mercy was quite a social person, and being alone the way he was talking about seemed quite sad to her.

Ajax almost burst out laughing. "If you haven't noticed, I don't really feel very comfortable having conversations. I'm this weird thing that you probably don't know about... ah what's the word... oh yes, an introvert. That means I don't like talking to people that much, and I do like being alone. I find comfort in things that don't speak back." He teased, chuckling. "Really the only reason I haven't flown away already... I don't really want to just leave the angel that helped me in the dust, because that would be rude and exactly like something a demon would do. I don't like to be like them." Ajax snorted, shifting his weight a little before looking at Mercy to see how she would take this

"You can only enjoy being alone for so long." She huffed, concerned. She looked up at him, pausing while she processed the information. "Well." She paused. "If you don't want me around, you can just tell me. I don't want you to feel obligated to speak with me." She said, looking only a small bit hurt.

-Aha, I knew I would do somethin' stupid and say something that offended her- Ajax thought with a tiny hint of sadness. -Oh gosh she was right, I'm enjoying actually talking to someone. Snap out of it, Rex- He tried to command himself, failing. "Actually, it's fine. You are right that someone can only be alone for so long, and I believe my time is well overdue." Ajax snorted quietly, though that did bring a couple questions to mind.

Mercy smiled. "Well, good. Im glad I get to be the one who snaps you out of it. So, why are you so different from the other demons?" She asked lightly, sinking down to sit on the ground. "Besides you being a decent person, anyway."

Ajax decided now would be a good time to give his sore muscles a rest, so he folded his legs and sat against the tree with a sigh. He decided to ignore her first comment and answer the question, kind of racking his brain. "Well I don't look like them, act like them, or talk like them." He chuckled. "Most demons have fiery red horns, pitch black or dark grey wings, black skin, and red or black eyes. I have blue eyes, Black with silver wings, no horns, and white skin. Tanned white skin, to be exact. That's just the start." Ajax started explaining. "Most demons don't have any accent, but I have a Scottish accent... that most people have no idea what to think of. I don't go around doing a bunch of terrible things, and try to help people sometimes. My favorite pastime is finding demons that are doing bad things and bash their heads in, because believe it or not, that is very satisfactory." he cracked a small smile, pausing to see if Mercy was bored, appauled, or interested

She listened to him and smiled slightly. "That sounds quite noble, to me. And I like your accent. I think its intriguing. Anyway; how come you aren't like them? What happened to you to make you look human?" She tilted her head at him, gently stretching her wings.

-Noble. Huh. Now that's a new one- Ajax thought. -Then again, liking my accent is a new one also. Guess I should get used to that- His mind finished with a slight chuckle, glancing at Mercy. "Well... I don't exactly know. Something about my personality and being too stubborn. Most demons that are recruited were terrible people that did a bunch of bad things and that wanted to make trouble, and they usually died by being murdered. I was a cattle rancher that died because of a bad accident. I have no idea why the demon king wanted me, and it was rather stupid of him. I guess it was because I am generally stubborn and can be rude... and possibly that I'm stronger then most people. Like I said, I don't know for sure." Ajax finished with a slight tilt of his head. He had never really thought about that... why had the demon king picked him? -I GOT TO stop calling it the demon king. Try Satan, Rex- Ajax told himself. Then another question came up... why did he call himself Rex in his mind? -Argh-

She stretched out, looking at the sky to think. "Maybe its just destiny. Do you enjoy being a demon? Well, thats not the right way to phrase it.." She sighed. "Are you happy that you got to live on after death?" She asked quietly, still looking up at the sky.

-Density- Ajax repeated in his mind, pushing that thought aside and focusing on this new question. -Gosh she asks so many questions by the time this conversation is over Mercy will probably know the same of my cousin... twice removed... even though I don't even know her name- Ajax joked in his mind, tearing his brain away from yet another thought and thinking instead about the question. "Not... exactly. I kind of wish I could have just had a peaceful death then it was over sometimes... but other times I'm thankful I can do something more. Even if I'm not an almighty angel that does a bunch of great things and helps everyone, I can still smash other demon's heads in." Ajax snorted, realizing how depressing that sounded. "Does, *that came out wrong* cover that?" He half heartedly joked, gazing out at the woods
