"I had it with me, I dropped it by the door though. Its not worth going back for, it's not like I had much. Excuse me, Dutch." She pulled her legs out from under the dog and swung them over the side of the bed, running a hand up her dusty jeans. "Damn, that house didn't take it easy on me, did it?" She pulled her hand up to run her fingers through her long hair. Needless to say, her hands encountered nothing but tangles. "I must be a mess. Is there somewhere I can go make myself look like I didn't get crushed by a house?"

Dutch hopped off the bed and sat down by Luke. He was clearly well trained and docile. "Most of this is scavenged from the city-ish place not far from here." He reached up and scratched Dutch's neck, which lead to him trying to itch with his foot. Luke grinned, then looked up at the girl. "Houses usually don't when they fall on you." He stood up and moved out of her way as she asked. "Yep," He pointed to a door in a back corner. He walked away and looked outside, Dutch following him.

"Thanks." She smiled, walking over and observing herself in the mirror. It was the first time she had seen herself in... a long time. "Holy fuck, girl, what did you do?" She asked herself. She washed her face and looked for something to brush her hair with. (Lets just say he had a hair brush?) She took a while brushing out her hair until it was smooth and sleek. She didn't feel like braiding it, so she left it down. She threw some water on her face a few more times and looked back at the mirror. She looked... older. More mature. The semi-childish look to her face had gone in the time since The Mist. Her eyes were more noticable with slightly sharper features around her face. She looked... different. She couldn't tell if she loved it or hated it. She was... well, she had been 21 for a few months at that point. She was an adult. And nothing to adult with. No late night college parties like she had planned. No getting way too wasted at midnight. That was all gone. She shook her head before she could go farther down that road. She looked at herself for a few more minutes and shook her head. She slipped out of the bathroom in silence. She didn't feel like speaking to anyone at the moment, but she also wanted to change her shirt. She found a dresser and sifted through drawers until she found a shirt that was his, and would surely be too big for her. At the moment, she was too sulky to care. She walked back into the bathroom and changed, dusting off her jeans as best she could. Being clean felt better. It made her look better, too. She stared into the mirror at her face and let herself get used to it. She blinked and walked out of the bathroom, walking outside. "Dutch, come here buddy!" She crouched and opened her arms to the dog, patting her legs. (I do this to my dog all the time) Edited at June 16, 2023 11:48 AM by Widow Valley Farms

Luke was reviewing the day's events in silence, leaning against the house walls again. He was quite startled by Mercy- standing up straight- and looking down at her as she called his dog. Dutch came running and barreled RIGHT into her, he nosed her face. He smiled down softly. He glanced over her, noticing his shirt. He looked off. "Found something less ripped to wear?" He said teasingly. Looking back down.

"Ooh-" She laughed, toppling over and hugging the dog. "There's my buddy!" She laughed and gave the dog a couple kisses on the head, itching his neck like she had seen Lukas do. She smiled up at him. "Yeah, I hope you don't mind. I figured you didn't have anything my size so I improvised." It was also a really comfortable shirt. Like what the hell was it made of? Bunny fur? She ran her fingers along the excess cloth by her legs a little self consciously, giving Dutch a kiss on the nose. "Good boy."

He smiled down at her while she crouched down with Dutch. He watched her interact and rile up his dog amused and happy she could handle his dog. He leaned back on the wall. Dutch's neck was always itchy even though he wore no collar. "No worries, I can show you the way to town so we can get you something that fits better if you want." He said sofftly in a suggestive tone, she was probably too tired today though.

"What, you dont just want to share clothes with me forever?" She asked, giving a mock gasp of offense. She turned to Dutch. "Can you believe him? No, I can't either." She looked back up at him with an amused smile. "But yeah, that sounds nice. Soon, maybe." She smiled, turning her attention back to Dutch and itched him behind the ears.

He rolled his eyes, smirking slightly. They appeared to be getting along well enough. Dutch licked her hands a few times, leaning into her itches. "I hope your not feeling as terrible as you looked?" He glanced at his watch, then turned to look at her, giving his whole attention. She was definitely more put together now. And far more stable. ..And less stabby. He crossed his arms, leaning on the house.

"Gee, thanks. You go get crushed by a house and see how glamorous you look. But yes, despite that insult, I am fine. My pride is just a little wounded." She rolled her eyes and stood up, blinking for a moment to get her bearings. "Just a little uhm... faint. I should be fine in a while." She rubbed Dutch's head and looked at Luke. It was the first time she really let herself survey him. Which is exactly what it looked like. She looked like she was... appraising him. She caught his gaze and held it, staring at him for a moment. He is very nice. She concluded in her mind. ...and sort of cute. She smiled and looked off at the woods.

"You're welcome." He snickered, he took a step closer since she looked a little out of it. He stepped back when she got ahold of it. "One would hope so." He tilted his head and gazed at her, it appeared she didn't notice that he was looking at her because she was looking at him. Then there came the eye contact, he smiled as she looked off. He missed socializing with someone who could answer back. He kept watching her for a moment before he looked off. "How long has it been since you've seen someone?
