After a few minutes of drying her hair she had successfully gotten it dry-well almost, She rolled her eyes. Stupid.. she said to herself again, her attention went back to looking for the shadow, but instead, she saw what seemed to be a head peeking out of the water. She froze, Oh that poor person! I wonder how they got here? they must be freezing. She stood up and went a bit into the water, approaching what she thought was a person who was lost. "Hello? Are you okay?" She had left her towel that was half soaked in the sand, despite her probably not being able to warm up herself for a bit, she was determined to help this person. "This water is freezing- You might get hypothermia, Let me help you out...?" She wondered why the stranger was swimming in this cold water, Yet she tried not to think about it to much as she held out her hand. Edited at April 29, 2023 08:14 PM by Savannah Stables

His eyes widened some as the human approached him. They spoke in a kind, female voice though and Caspian guessed that they were not thinking of hurting them. Despite this he back up some, the tips of his tail peaking out of the water behind him. He understood every word the human was saying but wasn't sure if he could trust them. Other merfolk had told him about humans luring merfolk in saying that they were going to help them before snatching the merfolk up and taking them away. So Cas obviously had a reason to be cautious around this person. He eyed the human's hand now and looked from it up to the human's face.

Malorie looked nervously around, Oh! then it hit her, They probably didnt understand her. "I bet you don't speak English and dont understand a word I just said..Uhhm..." She pointed towards her hand that was still extended outwards toward him, then she pointed to the beach, then the towel. When she looked back they had moved back further. "Wait- Please the water is freezing." She pointed at the water and imitated as if she was freezing, Even though she actually was. "I'm not going to hurt you." She pointed towards the dagger left in the sand, "See? No threat." Malorie was getting a bit impatient, to her knees and down was soaked with water, freezing cold water, she herself was shivering, and still, she was out here in the water, trying to get this man to accept her help.

Caspian listened as the human spoke some more to him but this time did some gestures with their hands. He tilted his head to the side finding this awfully peculiar. After a few more minutes of watching the human talk more and do more gestures he saw that they seemed cold. 'Maybe the water is cold to them,' he thinks, 'I don't want them to get sick..' After a few more moments he visibly sighed, bubbles coming up from his mouth. He flicked his tail back and forth and swam past the girl to the shore. He slowed as he reached it and laid his human half on the warm sand. He eyes the human's dagger which laid nearby and hoped that they didn't try and use it on him.

Maybe they are deaf- or mute, or both? Why me... She felt a wave of relief when they swam around and got half way up on the shore, She wondered why they wouldn't get all the way into the sand but didnt question it yet. Malorie hurried out of the water and to her bag, Yes! She had a towel left, Malorie grabbed it and brought it over to them. "Here you should probably put this on, I don't know how long you've been in that water but you're probably cold.." She laid the towel down beside them and then pulled out her phone. "Is there someone I could call for you?" She lifted her hand up and made what looked like a phone and lifted it to her ear, mouthing words. I Hope you understood that.

He eyed the cloth that the human placed beside him and picked it up. He felt the cloth and turned it around in his hands as the girl spoke some more. He now eyed the rectangular object in the person's hand. Caspian thought for a moment about her words before shaking his head. "No need to call," he says in perfect English, "no one will answer. No one has a phone we're I live anyway." His golden eyes drifted out towards the sea and saw the sun inching closer to the horizon. The horizon was splashed with all sorts of warm colors as the sun retreated away and the moon rose from the other direction. Cas's eyes began to glow some as it got darker and he placed the towel on the sand beside him, seeing that he did not need it.

Malorie was surprised when he said there was no one to call for him, and that wherever he came from, they didn't have phones, No phones? I would die if I didn't have mine... She felt a bit weirded out when his eyes seemed to glow, Weird. And he speaks English- not deaf, or mute? Really weird. "Okay... If I can't call any relatives I suppose I should probably call the emergency services, You could be injured and not even know it!" Why didn't he take the towel? She had a lot of questions, but right now, Malorie was sorta panicking, Holding her phone close to her, Malorie was about to call 911.

His eyes widened some as she went to dial numbers into the object that humans called a "phone." Caspian quickly brought his tail up out of the water and swatted the phone far back from the girl. His tail now laid on the sandy shore, his entire body now visible to the female human. 'I've messed up,' he thinks, 'she now knows what I am. Will she go call other humans? Will I be hunted like we used to be years ago?' His eyes watched the girl cautiously as he crawled backwards and, as quickly as he could, crawled behind a pile of rocks. He looked towards the water and saw that the water had retreated some. Usually the water would come in at night, but this meant that a storm was coming and it was going to be a bad one. Caspian went to go towards the water but instead fell face first into the sand. He let out a squeak like sound and rolled over to find his tail tangled in a net, which was caught under one of the stones. He freaked out now and tossed himself around to try and get back to the sea before the storm came, but only got himself more tangled up.

"Wha? What was that f-" She paused, Staring wide-eyed at his tail, Malorie screamed, "What the hell-Your a monster!" She yelped, Retreating backward. Malorie looked over into the sand searching for her dagger, she snatched it, Holding it in front of her threateningly. Malorie watched carefully as the merman attempted to hide but ended up getting caught in a net, She was more scared than upset, Staring, Minutes went past, and she slowly started to calm herself down. Mal walked over slowly to where he was, Holding her dagger out towards him.

He struggled more as he heard the approaching footsteps of the human. On the horizon dark storm clouds began to appear as well and thunder could faintly be heard. He sensed the shadow of the girl over him and looked at her wide eyed. His eyes went from her face to the weapon in her hand and back and forth. Caspian's body was still trying to decide between fight or flight and finally decided on flight. He struggled more and felt the sharp string of the net cutting into his shark tail. He helped as he turned sharply and a large gash appeared on his tail and began to make the sand red underneath the tail. Cas cowered to the ground as he watched the girl some more and wondered what would happen. His golden eyes, which still glowed some, showed fear and had wide, circular pupils. He could sense that the storm was growing closer and wondered if she would just leave him there to die or finish him off now.
