Anya raised a brow when the boy refused the drink before going to place it back down. She looked a bit confused when he asked why she came back. "Sage, do you want to be alone right now?" She asked, though she did sound doubtful. "Because I could go if you like. But if you decide to die in the next couple of hours, I don't want you to be alone," she sighed before looking back at the book. "And Luther made me," she hummed gently. Was he upset that she'd come back? She didn't want to be somewhere she just wasn't needed. She loved him at some point, and despite those feelings being gone... she supposed she didn't want him to be lonely. And, well, nobody else was going to be there with him as of then.

Sage thought about that for a few moments. The Luther made her come part seemed like she wanted to come but didn't quite want to admit it. He was fine with her being there...but if he did die, would she want to see that? "No....you can stay," he finally murmured. He did want the girl to stay, he supposed...it would be better that way. And he supposed he trusted her to do something with his body that was better than leaving him for the rats if he died, too.

Anya gave a gentle nod to the boy when he said she could stay, but it did seem hesitant. Well... if he wanted her to go at any point, then she could. She just wanted him to be comfortable for a little while. She did wonder what would happen if he did die right then... what would she do then? She didn't have a clue... she supposed he'd want to go somewhere nice... next to Liz, maybe. She didn't want to think about that, though. She'd do what she'd always done... try and keep him alive for as long as she could, but he wasn't even drinking for the time being. She sighed softly before reaching to him to brush his hair out of his face with a small smile before shuffling into him a little to get comfortable. She'd read to him for a little while... until he'd had enough of her, at least.

Sage was, admittedly, glad when the girl sort of cuddled up in order to get comfortable. It was kind of like the time when she'd cuddle up with him, when she actually still loved him. He sort of relaxed against the girl and closed his eyes once she started to read, glad to be able to just lay there with someone he still trusted. And if he did die...well, he trusted her enough to do that one last thing for him. And Luther might help her, since it sounded like he was the one who had come up with the whole idea. Eventually, he fell asleep next to the girl. Well, it was more like he finally just slipped into unconsciousness, a sleep he wasn't likely to wake up from. But his last conscious thoughts were good, so he couldn't really complain about anything.

Anya gave a soft smile when the boy leaned against her. She kept on reading once he was asleep, though... she'd stay with Sage for as long as she could. Until Luther either came and got her or... something... happened to Sage. Soon enough, though, she started becoming uninterested in the book and more focused on Sage. He was only sleeping... but she couldn't help but be fascinated by him. He still looked younger when he slept... more peaceful. It was sweet. She eventually put the book down and shifted so that her head was resting on the other pillow. It wasn't so bad when she'd thought he'd actually been dead... but now that he was right in front of her, and we was actually withering away right in front of her. She'd miss him... god, she'd actually miss him. She supposed there was still hope before. Maybe it was her being selfish... she only held that hope encase she needed him at any point, but other than then, she truly hadn't cared. Now, it just seemed a bit different... if he died right in front of her, she'd know she'd never get to see him again... or talk to him, or go for walks or just sit and do... well, nothing with him. Even that seemed like so much. They hadn't done any of those things in years, but the more she thought about that, the more she seemed to miss it.

Sage, of course, didn't notice when the girl stopped reading. He could still sense her presence....her warmth, the pressure of her body against his. But he wasn't listening to anything anymore. And he wasn't really aware of anything else. He did appreciate the gi staying with him though. It made the tavern, and even dying, not seem so...lonely. cold, even. He did wonder what Luther would think if he saw him, it if he'd even come up to the room. Maybe Anya would just read for a bit and then leave, and he wouldn't have to. Part of him did want to see his old friend though, and apologize...though that wasn't going to happen now, with him slipping even deeper into unconscious. He was relaxing, past normal sleep, and he really knew that unless something drastic happened he wasn't going to wake up again. And really, he was fine with that. His last memories had been good. He was going to see Liz again. He couldn't complain about it at all.

Anya sat quietly for a little while before giving a soft sigh and closing her eyes for a few moments. No... she couldn't go to sleep. If she did and something happened to Sage, then she'd feel awful. She forced her eyes back open before sighing and looking up at the ceiling. She could hear music and chattering from the tavern, though Luther's voice seemed to stand out to her. She smiled lightly at the sound... at least the boy was having a good time. Though, she'd had to walk him back, and she doubted he was going to make that an easy job for her. After a couple of moments, she noticed Sages breathing had slown down, and in truth that scared her a little. Should she leave him? Let him fade away, or was she supposed to do something? She knew he didn't want to be here anymore... he never really had wanted to be here. And maybe her wanting to prolong his was a bit selfish after so many years, but she was a princess... she could afford to be a little selfish about this. "Sage," she murmured quietly, gently patting his shoulder. "Can you stay awake please," she murmured flatly. She didn't even know if he could hear her, but she could try.

Sage felt her last his shoulder, somewhere deep in his brain it registered that the girl was touching him. He didn't hear her, no doubt she wanted something, but he couldn't understand what it was. He sort of wished he did, but it took too much effort to wake up, to pull himself up and out of the deep pool of unconsciousness he was in. He knew the girl probably didn't want him to die right in front of her, but there wasn't much anyone could do now...his body was just...shutting down. He hadn't eaten well for years, and he hadn't drunk much more. He just wasn't strong enough to keep going at this point, and unless some doctor was able to work a miracle, he'd be gone by the end of the night.

(It might be interesting to have Luther come to get Anya and decide they should bring him back for the doctor to try and help since he felt bad for kicking him out or something??)

Anya's eyes furrowed slightly when she got no reply from the boy, and gave him another slightly rougher poke to the shoulder. Nothing. He have her no indication of his consciousness, not other than the slow ride and fall of his chest that told her he was still breathing. In truth, worry started to run through her, and the fact she didn't know what to do worried her even more. She sat up after a few moments before hearing Luther's slightly heavier steps stumble up the stairs. She sighed slightly and sat up as the boy burst through the doors with a stupid grin on his face. "Hello my love," he cackled before trotting over and pressing a sloppy kiss fo her cheek. In truth, she didn't know where the whole affection thing from the boy had come from... probably right about when they'd started looking after Att. She couldn't be bothered to complain, though. The girl rolled her eyes slightly before pushing the boy away and wiping her cheek. "Not now, Luther," she murmured before looking at Sage... he was barely breathing, though, and she was getting more and more worried about him as time went on. "We... need to get him to the doctor..." she trailed off before standing up and wandering over to the other side of the bed. She didn't know how everyone would react to having the boy in the castle... but she was becoming more and more against the idea of letting him die as every minute passed. "Can you help?" She asked the other boy, who still pouting at her. He did come over, though, and started trying to pick boy up. He wasn't exactly heavy, and he probably seemed lighter to Luther considering his size. Still, that made for a quick walk back to the castle, despite Luther's slightly clumsy walking. Hopefully, the doctor would see to him... though, she wasn't sure what would happen after that.

Sage was dimly aware of Anyas rougher poke, though of course he couldn't really respond. He felt the bed shift too, and wondered what Anya was doing before he heard the door open and close. Had she left? No...the dip was still in the bed, so it had to be someone else. It was a deeper voice...was that Luther? Why was he here? Was he just fetching Anya or had he decided he was better company for hit future wife, if they hadn't already gotten married, than a corpse? He felt someone pick him up, and wondered what they were doing, though of course it couldn't be bad. He did wonder what they were thinking...Luther especially. He'd chased him away, furious, years ago...so why was he helping him now? And what were they doing? Eventually, though, he slipped deeper into unconsciousness, to the point where one would have to stare at him for a while to watch him take a kind of shallow, jerky breathing, that was really just his body barely functioning. He couldn't even really feel Luther's arms around him anymore either...he only knew he was still there because his hold tightened on him whenever he stumbled, and he could feel the harsher touch.
