Anya felt her heart beat a little quicker the longer room was quiet... she didn't know how things were going to play out. And she couldn't help but feel down right stupid for it. It was her fault. Sage had enough and for some stupid reason she couldn't leave it there. She didn't know that Luther was thinking... maybe he'd let it slide, and maybe he'd beat the living daylights out of the both of them for it. She knew Luther got around, and that the boy almost definitely wasn't saving himself for her, so if they were lucky Luther might just leave it alone... but judging by the red on his face, the boy wasn't exactly happy. Luther wandered over and pretty much slammed the tray down on the side table before wandering out the door. Once he was out in the halls, he crossed his arms defensive and stared at Sage for a solid couple of seconds before sighing slightly. "Go on then, explain," he ordered with furrowed brows.

Admittedly, Sage was worried about how Luther would respond to this. The boy could very well turn on him once the door was closed..and Sage probably would have just accepted it. He did deserve it, he knew if their positions were switched he would be mad, and confused, and would have most likely thrown a punch. But, all Luther did was stare at him and sigh. Maybe the boy would be willing to hear him out...though Sage didn't really know what to say. So he just kind of shook his head and pinched his lips together. "It was never meant to go this far," he eventually sighed, leaning against the wall in an attempt to look like he wasn't afraid of the boy hauling off a hitting him. He wasn't sure he could win a fight against Luther - he was bigger, and, more frankly, stronger. If he hit Sage, damage would be done...and Sage couldn't exactly kill the future king. Nor did he want to. He hoped this could be resolved, but he also knew he never had that kind of luck, and it was foolish to hope for anything.

Luther's jaw clenched slightly when he said it wasn't meant to go go so far... he was upset, very upset, and in all honesty trying to keep a rational mindset was... hard. Hell, Sage was one of his closer friends, and Anya was his fiancé, who wouldn't be upset. In truth, he should probably be more upset with Anya than anyone. Though, right then Sage seemed like the one to get angry at. "It wasn't meant to go this far?" He repeated, his voice getting a little more... exasperated. "I don't even know what 'it' is, Sage," he growled quickly, taking a slight step forward. "You understand that Anya is going to be queen, don't you? My queen? And you understand I could have you - both of you hanged for this?" He grumbled, his voice rising ever so slightly as he went on. He didn't want to sound mad, he wanted to understand what the fuck was going on, but that was definitely difficult. He should have ran right off to the queen to have the boy hanged by the end of the hour... but he wasn't exactly innocent either. He could yell at him later, once he'd figured out how exactly to go about this.

Sage felt his jaw clench when Luther repeated the phrase, then felt the rest of his body tense up when the boy took a step closer. Half of him told him to relax, that Luther was a friend, and he wasn't going to attack him, but everything he was used to, everything from his past...well, he expected to get hurt. His eyes flashed though, and he glared at Luther slightly. "You think I know what it is any more than you do," he hissed. "I'm not even supposed to be at the damn castle, Luther!" Now he was getting defensive...he had hoped not to sound mad, but now they were both upset. "Getting hung is the least of my worries," he snapped. "Heck, if Anya hadn't dragged me back here, I would have gladly starved to death. When I die out there, it won't be that merciful. Being hung would at least be quick!" It almost sounded like he was being a bit dramatic, but it was the truth...it was just a noose and a snap of the spine, and then he'd be buried. Even if it was a mass grave, it would be better than what the streets would give him. He knew full well what Anya was, and he also knew the risks...but the fact that Luther hadn't ran off to the queen to have him hung already either meant he wanted something other than getting Sage hurt, or he wanted to hurt him himself...and he wasn't quite sure what the boy was thinking yet. He'd had a friend...one he'd thought was a good one, but what if he'd gone and screwed it up? What if he was just fooling himself and Luther was like everyone else? What would he do then? In all honesty, if Luther wanted to beat him up, he'd probably let him at this point.

Luther stared the other boy down as he started to get defensive, though it only really fuelled his own anger on. God, this street boy? Who the hell did he think he was? If he was begging to be hanged, then that'd be the last thing that'd happen. They'd come up with something more... sinister for the boy. Of course, not that he wanted to have something awful to the boy, they were friends... or they were meant to be, so he didn't really want to blow up at the boy, and he was trying not to... but that was getting harder and harder to do the more Sage went on. He took a slight breath, but he still looked furious. "I expect you to! I just watched that girl kiss you. Tell me, do you care about her? Or are you just that desperate to feel like someone cares about you to mess around with whatever infatuated girl throws herself at you?" He'd wanted a reply from the boy... one that told him exactly what was going on, but it didn't seem as though Sage knew himself. And that only made him angrier. He bit his cheek and looked at the door they were stood in front of before his gaze wizzed back around to the other boy. Anya could probably hear them, and she was also probably very worried about it all, but right then the girl was honestly not in his mind... rather, he was more concerned about whether or not Sage was going to throw a punch of sorts. He had no doubt he could win against the boy if it did come to a fight, but he wasn't really expecting for it to go so far. A thought crossed his mind, and a type of infuriated fire flashed through his eye at the very thought of it. "What the hell have you done to her?" He growled. Sage was from the slums... and the boy had said it himself that people down there weren't to be trusted... so why in the world should he?

Sage growled slightly, clenching his fists inside of his pockets. Was Luther really accusing him of just using the girl? Granted, he was from the streets, and the people there usually did just want the opposite gender for a nightly pleasure, but he knew what it was like to be used. To be wanted for his body, but not for him. Did Luther really think that was how he was treating Anya? Or that he'd ever do anything bad to the girl, take advantage of her? "I work at a goddam tavern Luther, I know what it's like to be used in that way, and that's the last thing I would want for her," he spat. Really, he was more hurt than anything at this point...Luther knew what happened to him, and while he didn't expect the boy to know what he felt like, he still hadn't expected him to be so...what? Judgmental? Sinister? Accusatory? No, he was kidding himself. He'd always known it would end this way - with him being alone. He'd hoped for something more, and this was where it had gotten him. This was where love always got him. Maybe it wasn't worth it...maybe he should just take off, leave Att in a good place, and stay away from Anya. It would be better for her...no doubt she was just as upset as them, though in a different way. "I wouldn't let her kiss me like that if I didn't care about her," he all but growled. "Though I don't expect you to care, since right now you sound like every other higher-up who thinks I've done all the worst unimaginable crimes because Anya picked me up off the street somewhere!" He was starting to get less angry and more just...upset overall. The familiar painful numbness was taking him over again...the familiar ball of ice in his chest. He almost wished Luther would hit him...maybe the pain would knock him back into reality, keep this from all crashing down. But he wasn't going to hope for anything else...not now, not ever. It just wasn't worth it. He didn't regret being with Anya, and if Luther decided to kill him in the worst way he could think of, he wouldn't change his mind. But maybe it would be better for the girl if he just left. If he disappeared and never showed his face again. He could leave a letter, or some kind of message, saying he wasn't upset at her, that it was just for the best. It might work...if he saw anyone looking for him, he'd stay out of their path. Or, all they'd find was a corpse. That way it would at least be final.

Luther widened his eyes slightly as the boy spat his nonsense at him. Well, the boy had to be mad, because if he hadn't noticed, Luther was a royal. And he did think that Sage had done the worst unimaginable crime. He was so angry with the boy... god, he couldn't even explain it. He didn't trust a word that he was saying as of then. If it really was a romantic thing, if he really did care for the girl, he did think that they'd have at least given him a heads up... they were friends, and Luther would have probably understood if they'd broken it to him gently rather than trying to hide it from him. Whatever 'it' was. "Maybe Sage, maybe I am like all of the other higher-ups! And maybe Anya is too! And maybe that's because we are higher-ups!" He was yelling now... and quite frankly he'd had enough of this. He was expecting a straight response from Sage, at least... but he was all over the place. They both were, and he was quite honestly tired of this. He could tell he was getting a little more unsettled than angry, and he really didn't care. Really, all he wanted to do was sucker punch the boy... he didn't have a clue what he'd done to the girl, and he was honestly a little concerned about it. What if she'd gone out for one of her walks and he'd done something awful? What if she was just so blindly infatuated with him to cope? Really, Luther was more in a big brother mode than anything else. "I want you to leave," he growled before leaning forwards, "You can come back for the formal, but after that you're never coming back, do you understand?" Really, it might have been a bit of an over reaction, and he might be worrying for no reason... but he didn't want to take that chance.

Sage couldn't help but curl his fingers into fists as Luther continued to yell at him. And for what? He knew he'd screwed up, and he supposed he should be thankful that the boy wasn't sending him off to the gallows, but really he wouldn't care if he did. "Then maybe you shouldn't have ever acted like you were willing to talk to me," he snapped back. "Maybe you and Anya and everyone else should have left me out there!" Maybe he was overreacting a bit, but so was Luther, and by then there was no calming down. "No, no I'm not coming back," he hissed. "And you can tell Anya why I left, too. Because I'm fed up with trying to get used to this, trying to constantly please someone who only ends up hating me because of my past. You two can deal with Att, and you two can deal with everything else. Alone. Because if you're so high and mighty like you say, then you shouldn't even talk to me," he hissed, eyes flashing with some form of light that looked like anger, but deeper in his eyes it was just...pain. Betrayal maybe. He knew he'd kept the secret from him, but that's what Anya had wanted. Either way, he stormed past Luther, moving his arm out of the way as he went. "And don't let Anya come looking for me," he muttered under his breath...Luther probably couldn't even hear it, but he wasn't going to anyway.

Luther only felt himself become more and more exasperated as the boy went on. Though, he didn't want to talk to the boy. He didn't particularly care if he left. He didn't care if they had to take care of Att... they had maids for that. He was just worried about how Anya would react to it. Though, he worked hard not to throw arms at the boy when he pushed past him. Well, he was leaving. That was a good thing. He was only relieved that he was going. "If you really cared you'd at least say a goodbye!" He yelled after him before shaking his head. Great. Now he had to deal with Anya, who'd probably heard everything, and would either hate him for it or... well, hate him for it. He took a breath before poking his head through the door, only to be greeted with a very upset looking Anya. He cursed himself when he saw a couple of tears rolling down her face... though, it wasn't sad tears, more angry tears... and god, she hated angry crying. The boy opened his mouth to talk, but was greeted with a shake of the head. "I can't believe you just did that," the girl snapped at him, chewing on her cheek as she tried to stop herself from yelling. "I di-" he was cut off by a book flying at him, a clear sign to go... and he supposed he deserved it.

Sage stormed back towards his room, breaking into a sprint after he turned the corner, only speeding up when he heard Luther yell back. He knew he should say goodbye, but a note would have to do....he couldn't exactly wander back around and tell the girl in person...she'd never allow him to leave. He charged back into the room and slamming the door behind him, cursing himself when Att awoke and started screaming. He reached for the boy, standing there for a few seconds before his legs have out from underneath him and he collapsed into the floor with a wheeze. Gosh, what had happened to them? Had Luther actually ever liked him, or had he been acting all this time? Or had he liked him, but just not enough to not get mad? There were too many thoughts swirling through his head, so he blindly reached out for a pencil and paper. He ended up sketching out a crude drawing of a skeleton reaching up for the light, and the very top of it's finger had flesh on it...the light and town in it quite obviously represented the castle, and the skeleton was, of course, him. Att had fallen back asleep by then, but he barely noticed. He went to set the paper down and cut his palm by accident before after a moment bringing it across the chest of the skeleton...a bright red patch that somehow settled his nerves a bit. He knew what would happen to him when he went back out there, and he definitely didn't care. He set Att down in the cradle and kissed his forehead, whispering a goodbye to the boy as a single tear fell from his nose and settled into the boys blanket, creating a small wet dot on the fabric. He walked over and turned his sketch over to write a quick note on the back explaining it to Anya and asking her to make sure Att was taken care of. That he was sorry. And that she'd be better if without him here. Then he took oneast glance around him before slipping out of the room and out of the castle, without anyone realizing he'd left. Though Anya probably knew, as did Luther.
