"When you were lunging that colt...You looked at me like I was something new and exciting and...you wanted it." She said, placing her hand on his chest and the other on his arm. Emma looked over her shoulder, seeing her crawling all over him and she rolled her eyes, feeling slightly betrayed

(I dunno how you're wanting him to respond, just gonna do what his personality would suggest.) . Ben stared at her, expression both disgusted and icy cold. He swatted her hands off of him, but stood his ground. "And why should you assume you know what I think?" He saw Emma out of the corner of his eye and felt like he needed to tell her that this girl was crazy and he was playing no part in her crawling.

Emma stalked off toward the house as a couple of trucks rolled in, two guys walking into the house after Emma. She was making dinner and greeted them as they cracked beers in the living room, chatting between themselves. Emma sighed, finishing dinner and ringing the bell. She dished up plates silently, eyes on the ground, and sat down across from the only two open seats

Ben realized he'd forgotten that he'd promised to help Emma with dinner and yelped. He apologized to Summer, though halfheartedly, and hurried to the house. He sighed, seeing she had already finished. What a great help he was. He hung out in the living room for a few minutes, before finding that he just made the mood more awkward. He sighed again and went back out to the barn, deciding the best thing he could do for Emma right now was stay out of her way.

Emma ate dinner and did dishes, seeing Ben duck outside. She dropped the cup she was washing and ran out to him. "Ben..." She said, touching his arm lightly before quickly yanking her hand back. "S-sorry." She muttered, looking down

Ben heard the door open after him and turned to see Emma coming towards him. He drew a hand over his tired face. "What?" He asked, tired and overwhelmed. "Look, shouldn't you be interviewing those guys?" He gestured to the house. . (Sorry that was a pretty bad post, I'm tired right now >-<) Edited at September 14, 2025 12:57 AM by Fantasy Horses

"I already did. They're leaving tomorrow morning." She explained quietly. "I thought...you and Summer....what was going on there?"

Ben nodded at her comment about the guys. When she mentioned Summer he rolled his eyes and scoffed. "Yeah, no. That was all her. It was kind of gross, honestly. Plus, she spooked Cash during his best pattern yet and didn't even apologize. I can't believe her. Look, I don't know why she was, like, obsessed with me or whatever, but if she ever tries it again or shows she's not responsible enough to be handling horses... Well, she'll probably have to go." Ben let a mischivous grin escape. "Or we'll just talk some sense into that head of hers. Either way, she needs to be trustworthy."

Emma didn't know what to say, how to explain how she was so scared he'd played with her emotions, how she was scared he suddenly lost interest. She didn't speak, just nodded slightly and pursed her lips

Ben noticed her fear and worry and dropped the smile. He wrapped his arms around her gently. "Emma, listen, I'd never do that. To you, or to anyone. Please believe me." He said quietly.
