Adele smiled back at Caelan when he entered, marvelling at how kingly he looked. He had an air of command around him. She sat next to her mother on her father's right hand, and watched as Caelan took his seat as well. Adele's father started the conversation after the waiters brought in the food; a pumpkin stew with sourdough bread and a cauliflower salad. He got right to the point, which was how he always talked, no dilly-dallying or side topics. "So, you are king now. I said I would agree to the truce once you were king, and that is exactly what I plan on doing. But I must ask how your father ruled, and why he would not have agreed to the truce."

"My father didn't care about anything but power and harming me. I was brutally raised but your daughter brought to attention that I shouldn't b hit, nor beat to the brink of death by my own parents. I found this astounding yet comforting that no other children got hurt as such on a regular basis. I truly adore your daughter--she brings such joy and happiness to my life--and I'm hoping our families and kingdoms as a whole can stop fighting and finally get along." Adele watched Caelan talk, a smile on her lips and pride in her eyes. He was speaking to her parents' hearts, she could tell. Neither of them could ever imagine beating their children, and they took pity on him as soon as they heard it. The queen spoke then. "I believe my husband has heard enough, and I agree with him that this truce will truly help both of our kingdoms blossom. But I am still not completely sure I can trust you with my daughter." She had a slight glimmer of mischief in her eye, and Adele knew she was toying with Caelan, but that she really did want to know what else he had to say.

"I wouldn't dare to ever harm your daughter, she brings me joy I never thought would be possible. I love her so much, but I would understand why you'd still hate me... I'm not from your kingdom and I'm definitely not your first choice, but I swear to protect your daughter with my life. I'd give up my kingdom for her, do anything to keep her safe, I love her so much." He said, keeping his voice even while his mind and heart raced. He felt the weight of the crown atop his head and his fear in his heart

Adele watched Caelan, honestly wanting to know what he was going to say. By the time he was finished, her heart had swelled up with joy and love. How had she ever deserved such a wonderful person? She felt tears in her eyes, and wiped one off of her cheek. Her mother and father looked at each other talking silently. Finally, the king said, clapping his hands together. "Well, that settles that! The queen and I agree to your truce and allow you to court our daughter." A smile, broad and kind, spread across his face, and he stood, pushing back his chair. "Let us go to the parlor so we can converse more comfortably." When her father said this, Adele leaped up and ran to Caelan, wrapping her arms around his neck and gazing into his eyes. "You did it! They believe you! They don't think you're evil at all!" Not caring that her parents were right there, Adele kissed the prince, heart swelling with joy and love. Caelan was hers. She could actually be with him without being terrified of the consequences. She lost herself in his arms, knowing she would do anything to keep him safe, and to keep loving him forever. Caelan kept the kiss short, not wanting to upset her parents, but poured everything into the little moment they had. "I love you" He murmured in her ear, holding her close. "We should follow your parents, though." He added softly, releasing her and taking her hand. He led her over to her parents and followed them to the parlor

A little reluctantly, Adele followed Caelan to where her parents were now sitting in soft green armchairs, one a dark green and the other grass green with golden flowers on it. Adele sat on a dark orange couch and looked towards her parents, not sure what to say. Her mother started the conversation with a curious smile. "I, for one, want to know how this," She motioned to Adele and Caelan, "All started." Adele looked over at Caelan, smiling. "After I got away from the palace, Calvin spooked at something and went running off..." She told her side of the story, stopping to let Caelan speak when she had gotten to when she went into her new room in the night kingdom.

"She caught my eye and I recognized her right away. Many people would claim that I just went after her because she is the princess of this gorgeous kingdom, but I truly felt pulled to her. I have a special spot to me at my kingdom and led her there, showing her and telling her about my kingdom in the following days." He said softly, squeezing Adele's hand gently

(looking through the posts from a LONG time ago XD) . Adele looked off into the distance, remembering things from what felt like long ago. "At first I tried to tell him I wasn't the princess, and I thought he believed me. But eventually he called me by my real name, instead of the one I'd given myself, Clio, and I knew that he'd recognized me the moment he saw me. We bonded over similarities in our lives and told each other stories from our childhood. He bought me daggers and trained me to defend myself. And then, well..." She looked at Caelan wistfully, remembering that day. "He told me he loved me and couldn't live without me." She looked down at her hands, realizing they were talking like they had been together for a very long time. It had only been about a week, though it felt like years, all those moments on the cliff and the beach, talking and laughing together. It almost felt too good to be true.

That's so real lol) Caelan nodded. "She's a blessing to me, a true gem. And I love her so much." He said, pecking her temple gently. "I'm so excited for our future...Though, I was informed she was betrothed to another man? Is there some way I can...put a stop to it? I understand it's selfish, but I truly would like your daughter longer than ust until she becomes married to another king." Caelan admitted. "So if there is any way I can...stop it, please. Tell me..."
