Anya gave him a light smile, "Well you're most likely going to save mine a few times when we go out. I've been lucky quite a few times while out here - one day my luck is going to run out, and I'd much rather have someone with me when it does." She shrugged. She looked over at Lizzie as she teased them, just causing a sheepish smile to grow on her face. She turned back to Sage, resting her forehead on her hand as she let out a nervous chuckle, "She just wants you to be happy," Anya murmured brightly. Lizzie was sweet, but it seemed as though she found joy in trying to unsettle the two of them. While red Anya's cheeks darkened in shade, she tried not to let it bother her. Sage quite literally worked for her, and although their friendship had been short term, she valued it more than anything.

Sage snorted out a laugh. "I know she does. She's too cheeky for her own good sometimes though," he chuckled. He loved Lizzie like no one else, but of course she had to tease him. She could be annoying to no end but then again, he annoyed her sometimes too. "Lizzie likes to tease anyone and everyone," he muttered fondly. "I guess she got that one from our mom. She did the same thing, just not as nicely, I guess, since we never got on as well as Liz and I do." He shrugged and grinned over at Anya. "Hey, you did hire me to watch your back while I show you around. I'm sure someone will try something at some point." He made a face. "Although I could let you try and stab them yourself," he teased her.

Anya wrinkled her nose slightly, "I'd rather not stab anyone unless I have to," she chuckled. "I'm not a fan of blood." She shrugged before huffing. It would cause more of an issue than it was worth. A fainted Anya in the middle of a a knife fight wasn't what anyone needed. "Yeah, i think its be best if I leave the stapping up to you for now." Anya snickered as she glanced out the windo. She'd have to go soon. She was still dreading when she would have to leave, but there were still partied that needed planning. "Lizzie's funny with it. I know a buch of people who could say exactly the same thing but sound awfully rude." She murmured as she thought.

Sage chuckled and grinned. "Ill let you keep you record clean then," he said lightly. Then he shrugged. "Lizzie has probably never said anything mean in her life. She'll tease of course, but it's all friendly. If she doesn't want to talk to someone she just avoids them." He scrunched his nose up good naturedly. "I have no idea how she does it," he admitted, laughing. "someone could call her the worst name ever and she'll give them a big grin, say 'sorry you're having a bad day' or something and skip away happy as can be." He grinned sheepishly. "meanwhile I'm going for the punch because they were rude to my sister as she tries to drag me away."

Anya chuckled at the thought. The way Sage had described it seemed very possible. She had already seen the girl drag Sage across the floor, so it was quite likely that she had done the same thing a few times. "Tries to drag you away? Sage I bet she does drag you away." Anya grinned childishly. Lizzie seemed so good natured, Anya couldn't help but wonder who she got it off. Obviously Sage was lovely, but there was no way she could imagine him letting go of things the way she did. Anya tilted her head slightly, "You said she makes friends higher up, right? Well I can see why," Anya gave a smile, "Most people like it when people are forgiving. They'd rather that than being sucker punched by some tavern boy." She teased.

Sage snickered and rolled his eyes. "Ok fine she can grab me around the waist and drag me around like a huge floppy doll," he laughed. "Not exactly my finest moments, but whatever." He shrugged. "Well, people who are insulting her don't deserve to be friends with her. If she's going to make friends, it has to be a mutual relationship, not a one way street just because she can forgive and forget." He grinned. "Besides, do you have any idea how satisfying it is to sucker punch someone who you dislike," he giggled, a tiny spark showing in his eye. "You cannot say there's no one you want to sucker punch in your life."

Anya gave him a small smirk. "Of course there is. I know hundreds, if not thousands of people I'd just love to punch, but that's it. I've never laid a finger on anyone in my seventeen years of existence." She squinted her eyes at him teasingly, "And that's because I have self-control," She giggled mockingly. The girl rested her head back on her hands as she looked thoughtful. "I don't understand how either of you are as friendly as you are." She murmured absentmindedly, "It sounds like you've had it rough, but you seem so genuine, and Lizzie's so good-natured," She chuckled, "If I ignore the fact that you haven't told me if you're on the run or not yet, that is." She added teasingly.

Sage laughed and shook his head. "Self control. What an interesting concept," he mused in a fake thoughtful tone. He grinned. "Just another thing I can get away with down here that you won't wherever you live." He shrugged. "I guess I'm always genuine when you think about it. It's just usually more of a 'oh you're going to jump me? Ok well I'll finish the fight' or 'you insulted me so i'll insult you back because I don't like you and I'll speak my mind' instead of a nice genuine. But I think it's because we've had it so rough that I appreciate the nicer people and whatnot. It just stands out more than if I had had a perfect life, you know?" It was true, his mouth and fists worked before his brain most often. But the bad things that surrounded him just seemed to make the small good things brighter.

"Hm, that's fair," She shrugged with a soft smile. "At least you're honest, I suppose. I would much rather someone tell me how much of an asshat I am rather than pretending to be all nicey." She chuckled softly. When she thought about it, almost everyone she knew treated her as if she was the most wonderful person on the planet. While it was fun to have a little gaggle of followers, it became boring after a while. Anya had never gone out looking for an argument, but when she had said something purposely out of line, people brushed it off and gave her a grin. Maybe that was a part of the reason she enjoyed being out here so much. No one was afraid to say what was in their head. Sage and Lizzie were perfectly comfortable with teasing her, rather than being overly nice, and the townsfolk... well, she had her fair share of uncanny comments from them. In an odd way, it was refreshing. "It's almost the opposite for me." Anya chuckled softly, "It's like a breath of fresh air when I get yelled at." She rolled her eyes, putting on a ridiculous voice as she spoke. Edited at August 2, 2022 02:53 PM by Belle

Sage grinned at her remark and nodded. "I can see that. It makes sense...no one wants to get on your bad side. Here, everyone pretty much hates each other so it doesn't matter who we yell at." He sat back and winked. "I'll keep that in mind. Might have to yell at ya every now and then just to keep ya on your toes and give you that 'fresh air' as you called it," he joked. He sat with one of his legs drawn up, foot resting on the same part of the chair he was sitting on, in a very casual position. A lot of the adults (and sometimes kids) who were higher up would wrinkle thier nose at his stance, and say it 'wasn't respectable' or 'very crude' but he had noticed Anya hadn't made any of those faces yet so he was perfectly fine with being the 'uneducated street rat' as he was sometimes called. They just didn't see rats...they were pretty cunning creatures, and Sage was fine with being called one. Heck, he called himself a street rat, and while it was a bit deemeaning, so was pretty much everything else he thought.
