He winced. "Yes and no. She mentioned him, and she knows how to get in my head. We grew up together and she knows me pretty well. She's way older than me but we've always been in the same classes." He made a face. "I was stressing over too much and trying to hold all that in, and that was just the breaking point I guess."

Maxine nodded at him "I was just curious is all." she nodded "So basically she knows how to push your buttons basically." she said "I understand that." she told him "Well... try not to do let her get to you... I'm with you and you know that." she cooed "For as long as I can be." she smiled going back to her meal.

He chuckled and nodded. "I know. She usually can't faze me but I wasn't exactly at my best when she popped up in front of me like a mole that wants to get whacked with a hammer." He shrugged. "I'm only looking forward to fighting her and her goons even more now."

Max smiled "I understand." she assured gently "You should have hit her with a hammer..." she giggled before smiling "I'm sorry I probably won't be much help..." she admitted gently.

He put a hand on her shoulder. "You're not a fighter. I don't expect you to fight another human, let alone elder demons." He grinned. "That's my job. Your job is to protect your child now. That's number one." He put his hand on her belly and looked her in the eye. "I want you to promise me that our child comes before me if it comes to that. I can fight. It cannot."

Max sighed gently "I just don't want it all to be on your shoulders is all..." she said looking up at him giving a gentle nod "I know..." she said weaving her fingers between his over her stomach. When he said that she looked up at him "But... how is you dying going to benifit our child?" she whimpered "You can't forget i'm not gonna be around long..." she said.

He smiled softly. "Remember that I will always regenerate. I will always come back to you and our child." He looked at her and sighed. "I know it's not easy to walk away, but if a fight is bad enough that I do die in it, you don't stand a chance. Because I want to be with you for as long as I can."

"You promise?" she asked worriedly before she gave a small sigh "If you promise then I do too..." she assured a few tears rolling down her cheeks burying her head underneath his chin. Roxie made her presence known briefly, she now stood in the entry way of the cafeteria and she was fuming as she watched him... Only Sage could see her at the moment so when suddenly one of the tables went flying towards Maxine and Sage with the simple flick of her finger to say the least people in the cafeteria were quite shocked Maxine was quick to ball up protectively over her stomach as the table hit them. Max looked up at Sage "Was that her!?" she cried softly.

Sage snarled and nodded once. "I think it's time for me to do my job," he muttered, waiting for her permission to attack. "And I promise." He scanned the room and his eyes locked on Roxie's. "Finally worked up the courage to face me," he taunted. "or are you just throwing a temper tantrum like a two year old?"
| |
"If it comes to that yes... please... protect us and be careful." she said gently she felt a little better knowing he'd come back to them but she was still worried... she couldn't help it... but she left the room and went back upstairs (Though she couldn't resist taking the strawberries.) "Why would I face you when I thought you were doing a good enough job at destroying your relationship on your own but here you are... the shell of a demon you used to be..." she chuckled "You're practically human now... a baby? Proposing? what the hell have you become?" Roxie hissed before chuckling "I'm the one throwing a tantrum? You're the one who saved her because you wanted to piss off death!" she reminded him.
