Kayla sighed and got dressed in her old jeans and a top before heading out to her spot-the gardens. She sat on the bench closest to the forest, daydreaming really, about her past days. She began mindlessly humming an old tune she'd hummed while stitching Gale in the past.

A few hours later, Gale was with a gang of people, tagging along through the woods on a hunting mission.

Kayla closed her eyes and kept humming, a tear rolling down her face. I'm stuck here. Forever. With a man who only wants me for his own use and pleasure....

Gale saw her and drew a dagger, silently stalking his way to behind her before covering her mouth and putting the blade to her throat. "Get up, and if you scream, I swear on my life i'll kill you here and now." He hissed, voice filled with venom.

Gale trudged on with her, and if she ever hesitated at anything, he kneed her in the back until she kept going. He nicked her neck to show he wasn't afraid to stab his dagger into her, smirking at the liquid running down. The man stormed over to a tied up horse, shoving Kayla around before gagging and tying her tightly before slinging her up onto his horse before mounting. Gale didn't second another look at her, just kicked the horse on. He rode on for hours, inraged before finally pulling into the woods and dismounting. The man tied the horse to another tree before dumping Kayla to the ground and propping her near a tree, tieing her to it. Gale built a small flame before sitting near it, back facing her as his mind went through memories. He ate a small piece of bread he'd been rationing, growing slightly thin while keeping his lean build. The man gave none to his hostage, eventually letting the silence settle before walking over to Kayla and taking the gag off, staring at her in disgust and betrayal before glaring at her and going back to the fire. Gale waited until both were silent, the only sound the soft sniffs of the mare, the sound of his and her's breathing, and the crackle of fire. He swallowed, body tense as he let out a small breath and barely turned his head over his shoulder to look at her. "Why'd you leave me? Was I not enough for you? I thought we protected eachother, had eachother's backs, yet you stopped me from doing so. Why?" The man asked, voice raw and sounding as though it was coming from the bottom of the pit he'd dug in himself. "We had a life together, Kayla, yet you ran away from it?" Gale asked, turning his gaze back to the fire as his eyes watered. Never had he ever felt so betrayed, or left behind, or not enough. He made it seem as though he was rubbing his temples, yet he wiped the tears threatning to fall. Never did the man cry, unless his mind came to haunt him, or, if his light went out of his world. And never, had revenge sounded so good to him.

Kayla was silent, not speaking for a long moment. "I was just going to slow you down. I regretted it as soon as I heard your voice. I'm so sorry. If I hadn't been taken, I wouldn't have stopped trying to find you. I was punished everytime I said your name, even in sleep. They hit me if I so much as dressed the way I used to. I'm lucky to have gotten out in this." She said, gesturing with her head to her jeans and shirt. It was short-sleeve, showing all the scars she had and the permanant bruises around her wrists from hard hands and chains. "I don't know how to tell you how sorry I am....I sreamed for you for weeks until I was nearly beaten to death. The amount of times i've thought of killing the king....But then i'd be sent back to my home kingdom to be resold to another greedy prince. I would have left a long time ago if I had the chance, but I don't know how I snuck out tonight." She said in a rushed tone but she was scared-she'd never seen Gale so angry.

"I was going to protect you," He snapped, shaking his head lightly. "Did you not trust me to keep you safe or anything? After saving the both of us yet putting myself in more danger to keep you alive? And safe?" Gale asked, voice cold.

"I'm sorry" She said, her voice pleading. Her eyes didn't look at him, a tear rolling down her face. "Please."

"I don't want a fucking apology," He started, looking back at her, still betrayed. "I want a reason. The truth, of why you got to the ground and ran off. Secret lover? You secretly hate me? Huh? What's the truth? Because 'i'm sorry' isn't it." Gale hissed, voice becoming colder.
