Jaden's alarm awoke him at 5:30am, the man silently slipping over to his room where he scrambled for his silks, eventually finding them and pulling them on, shotgunning a RedBull and grabbing another for later.

Charlotte still lay asleep, awaiting her alarm about to go off shortly at 6:30. She flipped over in her sleep.

Jaden was already at the barn, discussing game plans with his trainer.

Charlotte woke up alone and shot straight up to silence her alarm. She got dressed and drove out to the barn to meet Jaden and Loki. Charlotte's truck pulled in, and she hopped out, still putting her hair into a ponytail for the day as she prepped Loki for the derby semi-finals soon.

Jaden went and grabbed his other RedBull, downing it in a matter of minutes before heading to the restroom for the final time. He walked back out, clipping on his helmet and pulling his goggles down over his eyes as he mounted Loki, taking hold of his reins and walking to the track. He breezed the colt, keeping him at a steady canter as to not waste any energy.

Charlotte made her way through the stands, finding an open spot. She sat down and looked around before seeing Jaden's ex-girlfriend. She sighed and the crowd calmed down around her and she heard the woman's voice loud and clear. "Oh yeah, ya know Jaden Ortiz? He's my boyfriend. He even kissed me before he went to get ready. Although I'm nervous about that stable hand gal, she seems like she's trying to get him to cheat. But my Jaden won't." She laughed softly with her friends as Charlotte whipped her head around and stared at her unhappily, eventually making her shut up. Charlotte turned back around and sighed. Now the woman was spreading lies. Next thing you know, someone'd give Charlotte a heart attack had she not heard that.

The gates flew open and Loki took off, getting kicked to the back since he wasn't fast enough. Panic began to set in on Jaden, would he not make it to the finals? But he noticed something, just a small detail. The top five all had immediately pushed their horses to their max speeds. Doing so meant your horse ran out of go quicker, always hard to sprint then jog while trying to get your breath back without slowing. He continued to run Loki, the colt on the far lane and pulling towards the side of the group. "#14 Jaden Ortiz and RF Frozen Guard have seperated from the pack, taking the slow lane, only worstening their chances." He heard a reporter muse, the man knowing the track better. Once they got to the turn, Jaden turned Loki, pushing the horse over and cutting off over half of the pack, inserting themselves with only two horses infront of the pair. The final stretch came, Jaden spurring Loki on as he hit his crop against the horses flank, Loki stretching out as he sprinted off and towards the finish line, finishing in third place.

Charlotte for the first time lost track of time and watched him finish before scurrying back to the stables to take care of Loki and Jaden. When she got there, she couldn't find them for some reason.

Jaden made his way back to the stables, expecting to see Charlotte yet not. He hopped off and grabbed Loki's reins, walking around.

Charlotte eventually turned a corner and found them. She sped-walked up to him. "Sorry! Lost track of time and didn't come back early enough. I can take him." She grabbed Loki's reins and pulled him in a small circle to calm him down.
