Sage gave the doctor a sheepish, and exhausted, grin when the man went from mildly annoyed to shocked and probably a bit concerned. "I might have found a baby and decided in the moment that bringing it back here would be a good idea." He wrinkled his nose slightly, though a bit amused at the man's reaction. "If you're asking me whether or not I had a child with Anya the answer is no," he chuckled, his tired brain making his sense of humor a bit...odd maybe. "his mom's been dead at his side for at least a week ...I got him fed and bathed but I wanted you to make sure he's healthy enough." He collapsed in a chair tiredly and let out a huff of air. "And maybe help me find a family so he actually lives? Im not exactly cut out to care for a kid once I go back to the slums," he pointed out.

The man couldn't help his small chuckle at the boys little joke... that wasn't where he was going with that, and he definitely would have noticed if Anya had been pregnant when the two of them were ill. But it got a laugh out of the man all the same. "That's not what I was asking," he mused before beckoning the boy to give him the child so he could look him over. "I don't know anyone myself, but I can ask around and see if anyone can take the little man," he shrugged before grabbing a stethoscope and listening to his heart for about a minuet. He hummed to himself as he did so, just trying to keep the child asleep and gently rocking his knee. "How did Anya feel about this? Have you spoken to the queen yet about having him stay?" He asked curiously, his tome still a little... confused. He then took the boy's temperature and gave a shrug. "He seems alright - his temperature is a bit low, but nothing to worry about, I wouldn't think. He is a bit bloated, but that's just because he hasn't been eating. I could give you some supplements to add into his drinks, I suppose." The man shrugged before going through his drawers and handing Sage some sachets. "Just put a bit in and see how he goes. Bring him in again tomorrow and I can give him another check up," he noted with a smile before quickly grabbing his notebook and jotting something down... probably a reminder of sorts. "Whats his name again?"

Sage chuckled and shrugged, before nodding and handing the baby over to the doctor so he could look him over. He peered over anxiously as the doctor messed around doing whatever he needed to do. Goodness, why was this making him so nervous? He was acting like a kind of overbearing father already, and he'd only had the boy for a few hours. He made a mental note to bring the boy back the next morning, though he wrinkled his nose at the doctors question. "I don't know," he admitted. "I've gotta think of one. I've only had him for like three hours." He was thankful for the supplements though...it would be helpful, as little as he was eating. And the doctor would ask around for families....it was as good as he could ask for.

The man pursed his lips before scribbling down 'Sages child' on the sheet. Summed it up pretty well, he thought. He handed the child back to Sage, who seemed to be overly anxious about the whole thing. It would have been understandable if he was actually the boy's father. Well, he'd pretty much assumed that role already. "Ask Anya to find out some old clothes for him, there should be some in the nursery. And a crib, too." He noted before shooing the boy away again. He did have to admit it was a bit strange that he'd brought the child back... he could have just left it with some random family, or maybe just ignored it. And he wasn't sure if the queen would allow some random child to stay for too long, but if the boy had Anya behind him then he didn't think the queen would object too harshly.

Sage took the little bit back thankfully and nodded in response to the doctor's instructions. He hustled back to his room and set the baby in Anyas lap. "He likes listening to a heartbeat and likes being cuddled up tight, and uh...bottles are being kept warm in the bathroom," he yelled at her turned to leave again. "I'm getting a crib and cloths I'll be back," he called as he ran out the door and then turned around to stick his head back in the room. "He doesn't like being bounced because of the bloating stomach, but rocking helps," he added, then shook his head and took off again before he stayed and listed everything off to the girl like an overbearing father. Well, more than he already had. He ran down to the nursery and put some diapers and clothes and burp cloths in a crib before tugging it back to his room and setting everything up in the corner before grabbing the boy again and checking him over before sitting down and relaxing with an exhausted yawn.

Anya watched at the boy dumped the child with her before he rushed off again. She scrunched up her nose at the child before giving a gentle smile and sat up slightly. He was a little cute, she supposed, now that he wasn't all covered in mud or dirt. The girl gently played with his like tufts of hair and gently rocked the little boy back and forth to keep him happy until Sage stormed in again. She offered the boy a small, rather sweet simile. "Hey he's ac..." she trailed off when he came over and took the boy from her arms, looking over him almost anxiously. Her smile turned into a bit of a frown before flopping back on the bed, "Don't worry yourself, he's fine. He woke up once but settled down pretty quickly," she promised the boy, trying another weaker smile. "Got everything you need?" She asked quietly.

Sage looked over at Anya and nodded with a yawn. "I think so. At least, I have what I need for now." He forced himself up to set the sleeping baby in the crib, which he'd put right next to his own bed in case the boy needed him through the night. Which, he would need...sage knew that, and he knew well enough how to care for children based off of caring for Lizzie. He collapsed back on the bed after, not even having the energy to pull the covers up. He just kind of...lay there. He didn't want to just fall asleep on Anya, but that's kind of what was happening even though he did try to stay awake and talk to the girl.

Anya pursed her lips slightly when the boy collapsed back on the bed. He was exhausted, and she was too, really. She didn't want to be the one to force him awake, though, so she wriggled away after a little while before tucking him under the covers. "Just... get some sleep," she murmured quietly, trying another small smile before pecking him on the cheek. She really didn't want to be the one to keep him awake and talking while he needed rest, so she simply pressed a light kiss to his forehead before settling down ontop of the covers, laying on her back as she blew out a puff of air.

Sage hummed in response to the girl, already half asleep. He turned to face the girl and kind of cuddled up as best he could before letting his eyes close. He fell asleep pretty quickly, almost as soon as he closed his eyes. He knew he'd be getting woken up to feed the boy through the night, so he'd have to get sleep while he could. He wished he'd told Anya thanks for watching the boy, but didn't have the energy as he passed out. Hopefully, the girl would recognize that he was thankful but just exhausted.

Anya gave a small sigh when be pretty much just passed out, and she just pulled the other blanket up and over her. She didn't really want to leave, when they got back she was planning on just talking to the boy about everything and nothing but new he'd probably need whatever sleep he could get. She curled into a kind of ball with her back facing him, trying to find a way that her muscles didn't yell at her before trying to drift off to sleep herself. She didn't want much to do with the baby, not really, but she had to admit that she was a little disappointed when the boy came back looking so worried, especially when she had tried to be a bit more positive about it... even if she didn't like the whole thing, she loved Sage, so she'd help him with the child the best she could. But, she supposed he was just being a bit protective of the the child, almost the way any young parent would be.
