Sage groaned and whacked the girl playfully. "Fine, fine," he sighed. "So I'm actually a big dork, why don't you call me a big baby while you're at it," he complained, though in a joking fashion. Really, he was only this compliant when it came to Anya, mainly be ause he loved her so much. He sighed and nodded, pushing himself up into a sitting position. "I suppose we should get going," he admitted. He wished they could stay here like this forever, but unfortunately that was how life worked. They'd have to part ways eventually, and he dreaded the days where he'd no longer have Anya at his side to support him or wrap him up in a big bear hug when things got rough.

The girl grinned before wrinkling her nose teasingly. "I would call you a baby, but not only are you probably tired of hearing it, these last few hours have more than proved you're anything but a baby," she chuckled before pecking him in the nose as he sat up. She flashed him an almost shy looking smile before crawling out of the bed and chucking the boy his shirt before picking up her dress and stepping into it carefully. She then wandered over to the little mirror in the corner to fix her hair up a bit, so that she looked more... presentable. The streets would probably be pretty busy now, so if she walked out of this tavern with Sage and she looked like an mess, it would probably wouldn't go down well with the castle.

Sage chuckled and grabbed his shirt out of the air when the girl threw it his direction before sliding out of the covers to grab his trousers. He slid those on first, since he may as well. They were warmer anyway. He threw his shirt on after that and wandered over to Anya as he fiddled with the two ends of the shirt before buttoning it up. He looked over the girls shoulder and made a funny face in the mirror for his own entertainment and then chuckling and looking at the girl. "Ready?"

The girl grinned at his silly face before giving a nod. She looked st the two of them in the mirror for a moment before giving a softer smile. "Yeah, I suppose so," she hummed lightly before turning her head to peck him on the cheek. She finished off her hair before turning to face him and then beckoning him to follow along. They still had plenty of time, so they could go slow after handing the basket of food out. She wandered slowly down the stairs before reaching the bottom if the stairs and picking up the basket. She looked at the boy with a slightly cocked head for a moment before shaking her head and murmuring. "What are you doing about your neck? You cant go back like that without a valid story," she noted with a slight chuckle.

Sage followed the girl along happily, more than content to hand out food slowly. When the girl mentioned his neck, he blinked, having forgotten about that and then waved his hand in the air as if shooing the question away. "I'll just tell anyone who asks I work at the tavern. They probably won't ask anything else." He shrugged. "Besides, I'd really only be around you Luther and the doctor, and Charlotte. But Luther knows I work here, the doctor is fanboying over the two of us, and Charlotte's well ..seven and has no idea what these mean," he pointed out. He shrugged with his usual cocky grin. "I'll be fine, and it's more believable than making up some elaborate story anyway."

Anya gave the boy a soft chuckle at his plan before nodding and heading towards the door. "He does fanboy a bit, doesn't he?" She murmured before waiting at the door for Sage. There was no chance she was going out without him clearing the way first. "Well, in his little way. The man wouldn't let us do this unless he wasn't rooting for us just a bit," she added with a grin before following him out the door. They walked along the streets for a little bit and Anya kind of made sure to keep their shoulders and arms touching, more of a comfort thing for her. She didn't remember being so... careful about any of this before, but she had gotten a fright from the last time they'd been out. They turned a corner into the square, which just seemed so... buzzy. She looked around for a moment before her eyes settled on a couple of smallish children playing. "What about them?" The girl asked, cocking her head in their direction.

Sage chuckled and nodded before leading the way out the small tavern door. He leaf the way for a bit, sticking close to Anya...he didn't want anything to happen, and having food was a bit of a target. His eyes landed on the kids she was pointing at and he nodded before picking something up out of the basket to give to the kids. Once they'd done that, they continued on their way for a while until he heard a baby crying and he immediately headed to the spot. Just as he had imagined, the mother (well, what was left of her by now) was laying a few feet away. He pinched his lips together and crouched next to the baby. Normally, he'd kill it, but Anya was here....he pointed his finger at the child and looked over at Anya. "He won't last long before starving," he started gently. "It would be merciful to.." he trailed off when the little boy wrapped his hand around his finger. Crap. That was exactly what Liz had first done. He sucked in a breath and stared at the baby for a few seconds, eyes wide, before pinching his lips together and scooping him up."He's coming with me," he announced, starting back to the castle.

Anya stared at the boy for a moment as he scooped the baby up into his arms, a slight look of dead washing over her face. The sight... it was a ghastly one. The child was covered in all kinds of dirt, and whatever was left of its mother wasn't a particularly pleasant one. But, Sage was already marching off with the baby in his arms. Anya didn't follow... she couldn't really. "Sage," she whispered a clear note of concern in her tone. "You can't take that baby back to the castle..." she trailed off slightly, not really sure where she was going with it. But this was a whole child. He'd need feeding, and somewhere to sleep, and what would happen when Sage left the castle? Anya wouldn't exactly be able to look after it, and she didn't suspect Sage would want it in the slums. And she wasn't sure if they had the maids to deal with a child. Not properly, at least. And those were all things the boy would have to figure out after he got her mother's approval if he ever did. She sighed softly before chewing the inside of her lip. "Maybe he has a father or something we can leave him with." The girl murmured quietly before cocking her head.

Sage snorted but turned back to look at Anya. "She's been dead for at least a week. If he had a father he'd have gotten him by now." Maybe he was being a bit blunt, but he was trying to talk gently. He tightened his hold on the little boy in his arms and gave Anya a stubborn look. "I took care of Liz, I can take care of this little guy. I'm sure someone somewhere would like to take him in." He wasn't changing his mind on this...he couldn't kill the boy, not now, and he wasn't leaving him here to starve to death. Anya could argue all she wanted, but it wasn't going to change anything. He was caring for this child and he didn't care what anyone else said. He'd taken on the father role already....no one was taking this boy from him and he'd fight anyone who tried.

The girl could only stare at him for a while before sighing and shaking her head. She didn't want to argue with him, but she also wasn't going to have anything to do with this whole... thing. Anya wasn't heartless, but she also didn't want this to end... well, badly. "Fine, but Sage, he's not staying. You find someone to take him and then he's leaving," the girl warned before rolling her eyes and continuing down to the castle. Sage could face her mother and find someone to see to the child, along with fixing up the nursery if he so pleased. "Let's go," she noted firmly before looking back to him for a moment before continuing on her way.
