Sage let out a kind of chuckle when the girl wrapped her arms around him. He leaned into the girl and closed his eyes, shaking his head slightly. "I haven't let myself let it out in...a long time," he whispered. "Years, really. I think the last time was when dad killed mom..." he trailed off slightly, taking a shaky breath, feeling the tears threatening to well up and spill over again. Anya had said she wouldn't care....but he was just so unsure. He trusted that the girl wouldn't care if he did cry, but he just wasn't sure he could let himself go and then reign it in again. "I'm not very good with these kinds of emotions," he finally said, after a pause. "I'm terrified," he admitted, his voice breaking at the end of the word as he buried his face in Anya's shoulder, trying to seek some form of comfort from the girl's warmth, her scent...anything, really. But now that he'd admitted it, there wasn't any holding the tears back. He tried, of course, but they came anyway, so he just ended up with tears coursing down his face silently. He wasn't an ugly crier he supposed, wouldn't wail or sob noisily...but this was somehow worse. Sobbing but...just sitting there. Making no noise, the slight shaking of his shoulders and jerky breathing the only indication of anything happening.

Anya did almost look a little surprised when the boy turned his head into her, but she only tightened her grip around him. "I know," she murmured softly, pressing a light peck to the top of his head. She was a little bit stiff for a moment, unsure of what to do... she'd never seen him like this. She'd seen him in some pretty... bad situations, but this seemed somehow... worse. She didn't care about seeing him break a little, it was good for him to let it out, and she could handle that, but it didn't mean she particularly enjoyed seeing the boy like this. The girl gently ran her nails up and down his back and rested her chin on his shoulder lightly. This was good, and she was alright to sit there with him until he'd calmed down again... it might take a while, and she knew he was scared of that, but he'd wear himself out if he kept on going, so if he ended up passing out she was pretty much ready for that. "It's okay," she murmured in response to him being terrified. And it was okay... she'd seen him being so brave, for so long, and that was hard for anyone to do... and Sage had seen and been through then so much worse than just anyone.

Sage really just ended up curled into the girl crying for a while, until he felt like he couldn't cry anymore. It wasn't an incredibly long time....maybe ten, fifteen minutes, before he shifted so he could wipe the tears off his face and take a deep breath. It was a shaky one, but a deep one nonetheless. And he did feel better...it felt almost like a load off his shoulders. He was glad Anya had been here, with him, otherwise things could have been much worse. He sniffed slightly and shifted so he was resting against the girl but no longer pressed up against her. "Thanks," he muttered. Then he added an apology in there, too, since he could tell the girl had been a bit awkward

A small chuckle escaped the girl when he apologised... he really didn't need to. She'd been a bit awkward, but she just wasn't sure what to do to comfort the boy, but that didn't mean he needed to apologise about it. "Don't be sorry," she hummed softly before reaching forwards and placing a hand on his cheek, her thumb gently running along it. "You feel any better?" she asked quietly, though she wasn't expecting much... he probably felt a little sick after that, and he'd just finished crying... so he probably wasn't feeling amazing. She did offer him another drink, though. It seemed to have caught him off guard, so she gave him a different one this time, something else to focus on. She wasn't sure how long it'd been, but it definitely had been a little while... so he would probably need a moment or so to chill out. Edited at November 21, 2022 12:30 PM by Belle

Sage had figured that's what the girl would tell him, though really it just made him feel better if he apologized. He leaned into her hand slightly, but nodded in response to her question. He did feel better...he'd always be upset about losing Liz, of course he would, but having been able to let his frustration out (along with whatever other emotions were swirling around in his brain) did seem to have helped. His head hurt a bit, and he was still sniffing a bit as an after effect from crying for so long, but he felt better than he had in a long time. He took the drink the girl offered him gratefully...he did feel a bit thirsty now that he had a drink in his head. He sipped it at first, wondering at what it would taste like, before taking another, bigger drink, and setting the cup down next to him. They could stay, or they could leave, he didn't really care at this point. They'd visited Lizzie, and he felt pretty good about it all. Well, as good as he could be.

Anya gave a short smile to the boy when he took the drink, pleased that he was feeling a bit better. Crying, or feeling like crying, was truly the most awful feeling... especially when you could do nothing to stop it. But he should feel better now, and hopefully, it was a weight off his shoulders. She did wonder if he was hungry or not... if he'd rather leave, then she could pack up and share with Luther or someone when they got back, or if they went through the village they could maybe drop the basket off with some kids or something. People who would maybe need it more than them. "You hungry or do you want to go?" she asked softly before packing the cup back in the basket again. She didn't care either way... but it could be good to stay for a little while longer.

Sage looked over at Lizzie's grave for a moment and then back to the girl with a shrug. "we can eat I suppose," he mused. He supposed he was hungry, now that he'd calmed down a bit. "I do feel better," he admitted. He probably should have done this a long time ago .. probably crying the night she died would have helped. But oh well. It had helped now. And it would reassure Anya that he was alright if he ate something anyway. "What all do you even have in there," he asked, cocking his head curiously. It was a huge basket and only two of them.

She gave a light smile and pecked the boy on the nose before grabbing the basket and placing it a little closer. "I didn't know what you liked, so they just chucked a bit of everything in here." A slight grin had formed on the girl's face before pulling a few boxes out. "I haven't checked," she chuckled lightly. There was a small box of sandwiches and a couple of different picky plates like bits and bobs along with some cut of fruit and some more cupcakes. They'd packed everything up pretty well, and there were a few more boxes that she didn't care to look in... if Sage wanted to rummage around, then he could.

Sage shrugged and chuckled slightly. "I'll eat anything," he admitted. "I'm not incredibly picky I just don't eat much." He was used to starving or digging through trash, really...he'd eat anything. He rummaged around for a bit, looking at whatever was in there, just for curiosity sake. He settled on some apple slices, since he did like apples quite a bit. Well, he liked ripe ones that weren't mushy or anything anyway. He nibbles at them for a bit, relaxing more and more as he regained some energy. "We can leave whenever," he added, telling the girl. "I think I'll be alright now." He was fine with being here...if anything it was nice to visit Liz. He'd just....needed to let it all out first he supposed. He still felt like he could have saved her somehow, but he'd be fine, and he did feel so much better.

Anya smiled lightly when he picked up the apple slices... if he was eating, then he was relaxed enough to do so. That was a good thing, it was. And he hadn't tripped out, and nothing bad had happened... that meant he'd be able to visit his sister's grave without her, and Anya wouldn't be too worried about him hurting himself when he did. The girl settled on a sandwich before packing the rest up... there was still a bit left, and she had expected to eat a little more between the two of them. Once she finished up, the girl made sure everything was all away before cocking her head. "Do you want to drop this off to someone in the village? I don't want to waste all of this," she murmured before glancing up at him. She didn't really mind, but she didn't want to waste it all... not many people in the castle would want it before dinner, anyway.
