Kin watched as she came around the corner. Adjusting the saddlebags draped over his shoulder. Casually leaned up with one knee bent. His brows furrowed at her commanding tone. Like he was being scolded as a guilty child. He hesitated, awkwardly gesturing to the door.

"You have the key," he observed blankly, the expectant look shot right back at her. She seemed moody. More than usual. As soon as she came off the horses back she'd been tense. Skir did have an evil smell in the air. But that could also be the local cuisine. An acquired taste. One he had not yet acquired. He wasn't sure he wanted to either.

Eris gave him a slight glare, narrowing her eyes and cutting them to the door as she moved forward with the key. Her eyes flicked from him dismissively, as if he were once again beneath her notice. "Silly to try and open the door we were given a key for. One would infer it would be locked." She said flatly.

She opened the door and strode in without another word, tossing her bag down by the bed nearest the door, huffing out a soft breath and sitting down. Little One hopped right into her lap, and she set to stroking him idly as she stared disconcertingly at a wall.

Moody, indeed.

This entire town just had an odor that made her... uneasy. Snappish. Vaguely violent. Actually, vaguely violent might have been from the combination of hunger and a stomach full of cramps.

Kin rolled his eyes and pushed off the wall. "It was worth a try, you were taking foreeever." He whined childishly as he followed her in, lightly holding the door open as he entered.

He slipped the saddlebags off his shoulder and looked around the room, and thankfully two beds. She was extra mean and he really did not want to argue with ..that.

He peeked out the window, not a very good view. He shut the curtains anyway. "Do you want to take a nap before we go, grumpy?" He cocked an eyebrow, his teasing seemed to have gotten worse since they arrived. Perhaps there was a correlation, and he liked annoying her.

Eris let out a soft scoff at the whining, and even in her snappish mood, she would be lying if the action wasn't ever so slightly endearing.

She gave Kindred a healthy dose of side eye and growled. "I'm not grumpy. I just don't like this place." She folded herself up a little and glared at him as he moved around, scratching Little One behind the ears. "And I don't need a nap. We can go whenever you want." She huffed.

Crossing his arms, brows furrowing. "For not being grumpy you sure do look grumpy." He chimed, despite knowing exactly how she felt. He wasn't exactly jazzed to go where they were headed but it was a little bit detrimental to their quest.

"It's not dark yet, I don't think you'd like being out too late after dark." He assumed, still reminded of the poor treatment she received at the last town they visited. "Might wanna go sooner rather than later." He meandered back over to the door, his hand resting on the doorknob.

"Looks can be deceiving." Eris grumbled, shifting Little One closer into her body. She sat up as he continued, giving a slight nod. "I suppose." She shrugged, standing and setting the cat down on the bed. "Well then. Let's get on with it, I suppose." She huffed, waving her hand at the door.

Kin nodded and swung the door open. A slight pang of sympathy gave him pause, glancing back at her before he headed down the stairs again. He felt a little bad about having her go right back down the stairs. Faes healed fast, but it had only been 2 weeks.

He stepped out onto the streets and pivoted to the left with an expressive swing. His shoulders slumped a little, but his eyes moved a lot. He didn't like this place either, but he hoped to blend in.

they weaved through the town, he avoided alleys, til they began approaching a long building, with turquoise, mint and black painted like murals up it's walls

An elven guard stood in front of the only entrance in sight. He was heavy set with long brown hair and a few weapons attached to him. He was definitely not employed by the city like the guards by the stable.

Kin swagged right up and scuffed dirt on the elf's shoes, holding his hand out for a shake.

G "Is that you Soldier boy?" A voice thick with the elven tongue asked, accepting the hand, grabbing each other's wrist, and pulling him in for a short hug.

Eris slinked out right after Kindred, leaving the door open ajar behind her for the cat. Should he want to come or go.

She furrowed her brows at pause, narrowed eyes scanning his face to identify... what she thought was...pity? She didn't like it, whatever it was. She just short of baring her teeth at him, she leveled a glare in return and made it her mission to hobble to the staircase with as much dignity as possible.

She would not be pitied. She didn't like it, not at all. Yes, she was hurt. Yes, it was taking her twice as long to recover from this scratch as it should have. Yes, her stupid Fae healing was stupidly slowed since the stupid attack, and there were still soft, stupid yellow marks around her neck. But that didn't mean She needed, or wanted, his pity.

Eris watched him as he adjusted once he got to the street. She mirrored him as much as her upright Fae posture would allow, walking a little more like a normal person and less like someone who was about to speak over your head. She matched Kindred's stride pretty evenly, minus the falter in her steps because of her leg.

She simply watched the sudden elven interaction from- not quite behind Kindred, but apart and to the side. She observed them both, her ear flicking softly as she watched. They obviously knew each other.

She looked at the guard and gave a small nod, a little, greeting smile spreading across her lips. Perhaps one of the only smiles She had shown this Gods forsaken country. This person, she would be polite to, just because. Couldn't hurt to give it a try.

Kindred had decided she was more of a creature than a civilized creature, lovingly. Seeing as how she just bared her teeth at him, and then started to mimic him, his pace, posture and probably his expression but he hadn't looked to see.

"I sure am, how are you, Skull?" He asked the burlier, engaging in a brief catch-up of small talk. They did have places to be, but not that many.

S "I'm good brother. What are you doing in part of towm? Or in town no less." 'Skull' inquired, speeing that thick elven drawl, his shoulders moving as he picked a more comfortable way to stand.

"Well, myyy friend and I are looking for something I know Thallen has a bit of experience with." He explained cautiously.

The guard marrowed his eyes. S "I oughta know better than you let you in, trouble. Don't get lost Helly." He warned amd gestured for them to get in before he changed his mind or something.

"oh thank you big skull, love you bud." Kin celebrated quietly, gesturing to eris to go in first, he patted 'Skull's' bicep and slipped into the first level.

it had a wooden floor, coved in a lot of hay, nondescript boxes, crates and cages. It was loud from the staircase, but the few espensively clothed men didn't care.

Kin nudged her slightly toward the stairs. The basement was deep, dirt walls, windowless, lit by scones and torches places around. More than twice the size of the building up there now. The ground was covered in hay, tables, cabinets and cubBoards full if items. It was loud in there, it echoed despite those dirt walls.

Eris looked between the two elves with slight interest, trying to worm out the relation. Old friends, was all it seemed. She raised her eyebrows slightly, crossing her arms over her chest as the guard narrowed his eyes. What exactly were they looking for out here?

She would've commented on the "trouble" remark, but he was right, and the gut feeling in her abdomen told her as much. She uncrossed her arms as she was gestured forward, a dipped her head in acknowledgement to the guard as She walked in. She took in her surroundings first thing, noting the noise and the well dressed men. Despite the well dressed men, it seemed... dirty. Animalistic. Hay, crates, cages. Like a place people didn't want to be seen- at least, didn't want the wrong people seeing it.

Eris allowed the nudge only because she was getting used to this silly little elf, and it seemed to be his instinct to guide her around. She didn't like it, but she followed the direction without verbal complaint. She glanced around as they made their way down the stairs, and shifted slightly into his side when they reached the bottom. "What, exactly, is this place?" She asked softly, tilting her head so she was speaking into his ear. She didn't know if there was anyone to overhear, but she wasn't quite ready to risk it.
