Blaze and Millie galloped back to the cave. They saw Raptor standing outside watching the sun set. They ran up to where he was and Millie ran into the cave. Blaze slid to a stop near Raptor and stood there with him, her nostrils flaring and her head held high. She new there was danger, wolves she thought. A big threat to the herd. Especially the older mare. The whites of her eyes showed and she pawed the ground. "How far away?" She'd ask, concerned for the safety of the herd. Wolves had killed off most of her old herd.

He sniffed again, glancing at Blaze in surprise. "I thought you had left." He asked, then peered into the night. "I'm guessing about a mile, and closing fast. I scent three wolves, but there could be more or less, I don't really know." He fidgeted worriedly, sniffing again. They heard a howl, then another and another.. and they were close.

"We came back when I caught sent of the wolves." She looked to the mares in the cave. "We need to make sure they don't get the mares."

"They won't." He muttered, walking away from the cave. He could hear them now, running through the underbrush. Raptor stood, waiting. He glimpsed four shadows and took a breath "let's hope my shoulder healed... and I can show you how I fight." He smile crossed his face briefly before the wolves appeared in the clearing, snarling. Raptor stretched his hurt leg for a moment before shaking his head, rearing up high with a trumpeting blast that scared away one of the wolves. Wolf 4 ran whining into the underbrush.. not to be seen again. He came back down with a thump, pawing the ground and waiting.

"Trust me, I can fight" She smiled sinisterly. A wolf snarled at her. Blaze reared, clipping it in the head with her hoof when she landed. Blood ran down the wolf's face, only making it madder. She turned her hindquarters towards it and let out a powerful kick, sending the wolf flying, the impact of her kick and the ground killing it.

"Please, as your now stallion for at least the herd... never mind that sounded bad. Please, since you are on ky land you have to listen. Stay. Away." Raptor looked confused at his bad choice of words for a second before shaking it off, going to face the wolves again. Now there was three... apparently Wolf 4 decided to come back. Wolf 2 was dead... so he only had three to deal with. Good... that works. Wolf 1 launched itself at him, and Raptor performed his signature move. As the wolf was flying at him he body slammed it into the ground with enough force to kill it... but it only cracked a couple ribs. The wolf yelped in pain, laying there for a second. Wolf 3 ran at him, latching itself onto his hurt shoulder. He bellowed in pain, flinging the wolf off and rearing up, bringing his hooves down atop it and killing it immediately. Wolf 4 whimpered.. but feebly aimed an attack at his flank. He bodyslammed that wolf.. who did get killed on impact. Wolf 1 staggered back up, Howling with pain and careening away with its tail tucked between its legs. Raptor shook his pelt, letting out a breath of pent up air... and realizing how much his shoulder was screaming in agony.

"I don't take orders from others." She snapped, then turned and cantered off to the woods.

After the wolves were gone Raptor registered her words. They sunk in... and he realized what big of a mistake he made. "Idiot idiot idiot..." he muttered, trying to think clearly through the pain throbbing through his shoulder. First he should probably get back to the herd and tell them everything is fine. He limped back quickly, sticking his head in the cave. "Hey everyone. You can come out and graze to your hearts content now, nothing to worry about." He said quietly, coming back around and glancing around. What if Blaze got hurt in those woods? What if there were more wolves? What if she got in between a mother bear and her cubs? What if a cougar saw her and decided it wanted a snack? The what ifs were endless.. and all of them were triggering his worry which, in turn, made it all the more painful. He watched the woods intently, wishing with all his heart she would come out into his sight, safe and sound

Blaze broke into a gallop once she reached the forest. She sprinted through the trees. She could hear other animals around her, scattering when the thundered through. After a while, she slowed to a walk, then stopped. She looked around her and sighed before turning around and trotting back. - Millie came out of the cave once the stallion said it was okay. She looked around nervously. "Uhmm, where's my sister?" She asked, seeing hoof prints leading to the forest.

Raptor glanced at Millie, looking worried. "I fear I said the wrong thing to her.. and she ran off. I don't know if I should go after her in case she just runs away further because she is angry..." he said quietly with a pained look in his eyes, not from the wounds but from his stupid decision.
