Oh I didn’t even think about that. I’ve only heard from state schools so far and my state doesn’t really have a flagship or anything so I don’t think we have housing problems like some really big schools do.

Quiet Valley - that's the thing, since I applied EA to a school with housing issues and housing opens Feb 9, now I'm stuck.

Room and board is stupid expensive but you get the traditional student experience living on or near campus, which I really enjoyed. The school I work for now has zero housing, we don't even offer any housing support, and is fully commuter. You save a lot of money if family is still allowing you to live at home

Zrek, you still have a few months to decide, right? I’m also applying this cycle and most places don’t require a deposit until May 1

I'm trying to make sure I keep my options open and since I already applied to colleges I'm not sure if I should accept and then defer a semester to try trades or go straight into it in the summer, or what. The whole housing thing complicates it so much more and it's driving me nuts.

The downside was he had to travel out of state frequently for months at a time

My former stepfather was an orbital welder who did contract work and made absolute bank. The work was hard on him though. I don't know where he's at now, but he was still working into his 60s

Trades are in dire need of people I will say. I was a certified MAG welder for the company I worked for and it was fun and paid very well

Ven - see I visited a nicer trades x artisan school and liked it. It's just now I'm concerned that even if I did like physical work, that I'd be trapped in my field when I'm older and my body doesn't function as well.

I'm just concerned about wasting time - 2 years doing gen ed is a lot of wasted $$ and exploration time

As someone who works for a university, I also would not be upset about my own kid going to trade school instead. It's just so expensive and no guarantee of a job.

Ven - thing is I applied with the intention of going out of state. So do you think I could do that going to a Uni doing just gen eds and then declare later, or transfer to a different one?

Knock out gen ed credits at community college, then transition to a four-year school when you figure out your major

Anyone feel like sharing advice? - currently feeling super confused about what I'm even doing anymore; I applied to some colleges but am so lost and don't know if I'm making the right moves. I feel like every option is the wrong one and whatever I like won't make me financially stable or even if I go to college for financial stability I won't choose the right thing.
