She gulped, nodding her head a fraction. "I only know what the book said. I'm sure there's more to your story that they couldn't find out, that only you know." She paused, looking down at her hands. She just had to say it all. Otherwise she'd feel like she was lying. "Caden, I'm not mad at you. I'm confused and worried, but not angry. I don't want to get to know you by reading a stupid book, I want to hear you say it. So... Can we start over? Pretend I never opened it. I still like you, no matter what you've done in the past. Please trust me?" She looked at him, eyes pleading and worried.

Caden darted his gaze away, her words jumbling into a heap that flew right over his brain. All besides the 'can we start over' 'pretend i never opened it' 'i still like you' but most of all- 'Please trust me?'. Please . . . trust her? Heck, it was hard for him to trust anybody. He looked back up at her, eyes residing back to normal as he let out a sigh and pinched the bridge of his nose. "Fine, yeah, I trust you. I really do, what do you want to know?" Caden asked, though he wasn't too comfortable announcing anything though she was an exception.

(This RP is getting sooo good <3 I love your writing style!) . Iris waited anxiously for him to speak. When he finally did, she nodded in thanks and sat down on his bed. "Whatever you want to tell me. If it's nothing, that's okay too." The truth was, she was kind of scared to hear what he had to say. But she knew it would strengthen their bond and overall be the best thing. That didn't mean it was easy. For either of them. And she could already tell that just from looking at Caden's face. He'd had a hard life, nothing like hers. In fact, compared to his, her life was a cakewalk. Wait, when had she decided that she had enough experience to talk to someone with such a heavy burden? She wasn't qualified for this. Ack, but she had to be if she wanted to talk to him. Iris made herself focus and not let her mind go off into a tangent.

"Well then, we'll be here all day, if you're alright with that. 17 years of crappy living is hard to narrow down," He mused, sitting in his desk chair and starting from the beginning. The man spoke of how he lived the first few years of his life a cakewalk, help his mom any way possible, completely avoid his father. Only reason he called him 'father' and not 'dad' was because it was bashed into him as 'proper'. Talked about where a lot of his scars came from, obviously she knew the ones on his face though there was a funny story to the one marking itself across his lip. Others were cigarette burns, grooves from blades, a few divits which... he didn't say much about besides his father. He talked on and on about Carmen,of how the two's relationship was, and how the fight that ended everything was over a text from an unknown number. He also explained how his mom died only two years ago, marking his age as 18. Started talking about how he drowned everything out in his wealth half the time, along with telling her of his conditions such as ADD and ADHD which was why he was always up and moving to simingly calm it. Talked about how after she died his mind autopiloted him into a phase of depression, which---was normal for cases such as losing a parent. Caden also noted her of how it still lingered sometimes, especially when the weather was the exact same as the day it happened -- or in hospitals, but they really just gave him anxiety. "But yeah and now it just... creeps up sometimes, never know when it's going to.... leave." He murmured, now almost burned out after having talked for an hour or two.

She was honestly kind of surprised that Caden wanted to tell her about his life. That he actually trusted her. Iris listened quietly, watching his face as he spoke. She felt great shame that she had barely told him anything about herself and he was already opening up about the most personal matters. It really wasn't fair. But she had never been comfortable talking about herself. She half hoped he would ask her about herself and half hoped he would keep talking about himself. Finally, it seemed like Caden's story had come to an end. Iris had soaked in every detail, trying to remember it all. His last words hung in the air as she debated what to say. Should she apologize, or thank him? Maybe relate to what he said with a story of her own? But he probably didn't want to hear about her boring life. He was the one with a riveting tale, not her. Iris decided not to ask him anything else. He'd just told her his whole backstory after all, and probably didn't want to talk anymore. Instead of saying anything, Iris stood up and wrapped her arms around his neck, hugging him. It wasn't a tight hug, just warm and loving. She hoped it said everything she couldn't get her lips to say.

Caden watched her reaction, was she mortified? Disgusted? Hated him now that he said everything? He was surprised when she stayed silent and walked over to him, the man not being able to back any more since he was up against the desk. When her arms wrapped around his neck in a warm embrace, for once Caden didn't know what to do. He hesitated for a second before pulling her into his arms in a tight hold, not suffocating, though. The man let out a breath he didn't know he was holding, his shoulders slumping as he had nothing left to say. Her arms felt.... right around him. It didn't feel wrong or awkward just, right.

Iris was kind of standing on her tiptoes because of how tall he was, but Caden's arms around her kept her from being uncomfortable. In fact, it felt like she fit perfectly into him, as if she was meant to be there. After a long moment, she pulled away, half reluctantly. Everything about him, his comforting smell, his care, his warmth, made her want to stay there forever. She stepped back a little and looked down, a little embarassed. "Sorry," she muttered shuffling her feet.

Caden seemed to melt into her embrace, hands pressing into her shoulder blades lightly. When she pulled away he kept his hands lightly on her shoulders before realizing what he was doing and pulling away, face reddening a little before he swallowed the color back down. "Sorry," He murmured quickly, unable to pull his gaze away from her's. The man chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck. "I-I'm sorry, didn't know what I was doing."

(Sorry didn't know what to write lol) . Iris's eyes were drawn back up to his and she held his gaze, face still warm. She wasn't sure what to do, but the rapid beating of her heart and the butterflies in her stomach told her she had to do something. She couldn't make her feet or eyes move, however, so she just stood there, eyes locked onto his, hands fidgeting slightly.

Caden lost the words forming in his throat when she kept his gaze, his jaw working to say something else but nothing came. His gaze flicked to her lips for a nano second before feeling disgusting and looking back up. Kiss his best friend? Yeah, like that'd end well. Ruin everything they'd built in a split second. Great one, Caden. Real great.
