"come on." Sam grunted, heaving Ruin closer to the gate. "over here!" he called into the darkness to the vet. Ruin was repeately looking at his stomach and kicking it in agony. He wanted so badly to drop to his knees, but Sam and Ellie wouldnt let him do anything untill the vet came to tell them what to do.

Ellie wast really sure what to do when the vet finally to them, she handed the pony to the vet, who had told them they had done right by the pony, and that she would do what she could. She took a step back to call the yard owner, and the yard manager telling them that Ruin was colicing. She wasn't sure that the little pony would be okay, no matter what the vet said, mainly because the poor little pony was old and had started to become slightly more frail, and the speed and tone of her voice said just that. Once she put the phone down, she looked to Sam, biting her lip slightly as a coping mechanism, but it didn't seem to work. The manager was thinking about what he wanted to do with the horse, and what treatments he was going to go for but Ellie knew, that from the intensity of the ponies kicks that no matter what, this might not end the way everyone wanted.

Sam returned the worried glance to Ellie, and folded his arms together as the vet got to work. Sam remembered his mother owning a horse once. but that very horse had gotten colic and passed away in her arms. Sam could only hope the same wouldnt happen to Ruin.

After a while of the vet fighting for the small pony, she took a step back, waiting expectantly, but the pony didn't move one bit. Just shallow breaths rising up and down again. If they went for sugary, would the little guy make it though that? Would be be okay? The vet looked a little skeptical, and Ellie wasn't sure if the owner would pay for it. Ellie suddenly felt guilty, as if she had done something wrong. Had she gotten his feed wrong? To much sugar? Hay? She felt tears start to well in her eyes and vision become cloudy and blurred. She covered her eyes with her sleeve for a moment and tried to blink back tears successfully, but one or two managed to escape. She was still waiting for a call back, but the longer the manager took, the less chance the little pony had.

Sam sat down in the field near the people, watching silently. "there's only so much we can do." He said sadly to Ellie, seeing her eyes become wet with tears. So sam sat and observed the team fighting for the little guy's life. He hugged his knees and rocked back and forth, not quite wanting to know the outcome of this incident. "he's eaten a poisonous plant."the vat said. "he will need surgury to remove it." Sam and Ellie shared a worried glance.

"Sam, I don't know what to do," She whispered, not taking her eyes off of the little pony, who was still only just fighting. The vets needed an answer soon and she had still gotten no call back. If he didn't get surgery, then there's no chance for him, and if he does get it, there's only a little chance more. She eventually spoke up again, her heart racing, "Surgery, but only if it will help him," She said quickly, even without the owners permission.

"i know." Sam said softly. He got how much pain Ellie was..she had been riding that little pony since she was a child. Sam honestly didnt know how they could get the funds to get surgery for Ruin though. "we'll think of something for the money." he reassurred Ellie. Not for the life of him did he know what, but it was Ruin's only hope.

Ellie gave Sam a small nod and tried to let her muscles relax, but she remained tense and worried. The vet nodded at Ellies request and was about to prepare the pony, but suggested that they left encase anything got messy. Ellie instantly got up and left though her whole body was shaking slightly. She made her way towards the stable, were only a few horses were eating peacefully. She made herself up to the hay barn so that it was peaceful and quiet. Maybe she was just being over reactive because she was still tired, but she still wanted the quiet. She went to go and sit next to a few hay bales, with her head leaning against the top one.

Sam quietly followed Ellie into the yard, giving her some space as she went to the haybarn. He paced worriedly around before settling on a mounting block and resting his head against ruins empty stable door. He just hoped Ruin would be ok..he meant a lot to Ellie, he knew that. They just had to trust that the vet would do a good job and that ruin would be ok. how they were going to raise 6,000 dollars for the payment? he had not a clue.

The more Ellie sat, the worse she felt, and the harder she had to try and keep herself from crying. She hated crying, and she normally didn't do it, not for a long time now, so she felt very strange and a little pathetic. She hugged her knees to her chest and hid her face in her hands, waiting any news from the vet, she knew that might be a while yet.
